    It is not uncommon to find the Lucas Burnley-designed Kwaiken hanging out in the pocket of your favorite Blade HQ employee. With it's tactical-gentleman aesthetic and clean lines, the Kwaiken is here to stay. We decided to take this esteemed knife to the next level, and have dubbed it the "Kwaiken Tuxedo", only available here at Blade HQ.
    There are a few obvious, as well as some not-so-obvious changes. First and foremost is the striking titanium bolster paired with it's partner in crime, carbon fiber. The fit and transition are smooth and reminiscent of a Burnley custom piece.
    Next up, we replaced the hefty stainless steel frame/liner lock with titanium. This lightened the knife to 3.6 ounces, nearly 1 ounce lighter than the carbon fiber version! We also added a titanium pocket clip and jimping on the flipper (YES, jimping!).
    The Kwaiken Tuxedo sports a beautiful satin finished VG-10 stainless blade and the IKBS pivot system allows for easy, quick opening.
    We are excited about the new Kwaiken Tuxedo and all the customization possibilities! This is a serial numbered run and is sure to go quick!

    Can we expect a restock of this knife in the 3.5 inch variant anytime soon?

    I love mine, got it a few days ago. It is the favorite of the 3 I own, the other two being a CF/blackwash one and an original OD green non-flipper. It is better refined for sure and the Carbon Fiber looks a lot nicer than my other, it is more of a mat finish.
    I only have 3 petty complaints, which are far from a deal breaker:
    1) It has atrocious lock stick the first few days of play, even with marking the tang with a pencil. (Edit: It broke in really well and has no more stick at all)
    2) The pocket clip has a smaller scoop at the end, so it is harder to clip with thicker pants.
    3) This really is petty, but, the inside edges of the Ti Liners where they cut the lock bar, is a little bit rough looking. You really have to look for it to see it, but nonetheless it is worth mentioning.

      I've only got a green non flipper, do the flippers seem any smoother or are they all the same?

    • @danmartin4552
      @danmartin4552 8 лет назад

      ***** Well my two flipper ones seem slightly smoother, but that maybe just because my Green one is older and in need of cleaning.
      I would say all of mine are very smooth relatively speaking. Although the flippers are tremendously easier to open and are just all around better for EDC.

      VG 10 is a great steel. Would be nice with S35vn or something but my spydercos with VG10 have been some of the best EDC blades I've used. But yes, if they're going to make such a cosmetically premium blade they should take it up a notch and add some classier steel. Maybe they realize it won't be much more than a letter opener for most people. For a comparable CF/titanium, the ZT 0452CF does the trick. Sex appeal is different but there for sure.

    Just ordered mine over the weekend, have they got the lock stick issues cleared up ??? Hoping it comes in with no problems !!

    • @danmartin4552
      @danmartin4552 8 лет назад

      I ordered mine as soon as they came out, so they may have changed it since. Mine came with atrocious lock stick, but after the first few days of just playing with it and drawling on the lock face with a pencil, the stick went away, now it is just as good as any steel lock up. It is not an issue if you put up with it for a few days and let it break in.

      No problem. Out of curiosity, when you get it, you mind saying what serial number you get? Mine is 0070, I am curious how far up they are now a few months later.

      Yea got the knife and hated it lol, done sent it back to blade hq the lock stick was so bad that at times too both of my thumbs to unlock it. It was terrible and I wasn't a huge fan of the carbon fiber either not that it looked cheap just not my style after getting it in hand and up close! O and it was number 006

    Is there a stainless steel insert for the titanium liner?

    • @danmartin4552
      @danmartin4552 8 лет назад

      No it is Ti to steel. Mine had atrocious lock stick for the first day or two, but it has broken in very nicely. Looking at how the tang is cut, I would not worry about wearing down the lock face, it looks like that would take many many years of daily use to wear the lock bar down enough for it to walk all the way over.

      Oh ok I was worried about titanium to steel. :)

    I got mine yesterday the lock is sticking so badly I'm sending it back for a refund.

    • @danmartin4552
      @danmartin4552 8 лет назад

      Yeah mine had very bad lock stick as well, but that is a not uncommon for Ti liner knives. All you need to do is break it in, mine did so in about 2 days of casually playing with it. In the mean time, before it breaks in, occasionally drawling on the lock face with a pencil will help with the stick.

      +danny c I sent mine back because it didn't stop sticking and I found it unacceptable.

    • @danmartin4552
      @danmartin4552 8 лет назад

      Ben_Long1018 I would have sent mine back if it continued to stick. But for me it stopped sticking after a few days of playing with it, and occasionally writing on the tang with pencil. That is how most Ti Liner locks are.

    The quality control on Boker knives is a joke, the only way to get a good one is to get lucky, or to complain and send it back so they hand pick one that isn't a piece of shit. Their Carbon Fiber Kwaiken was so bad it is sitting in the bottom of a drawer. Their customer service sucks too, they act as if you are inconveniencing them to expect a knife that does not have chipped finish, gunky buildup in the bearings and a pivot screw that has been lock-tited to rubbish so you can't even clean it.
