This series is actually scary. I've watched it in 3-4 days and it disturbed me a lot. It's so different from any other series I've seen... There are many violent films and series, but this... man... I don't know, it's different. It's more real, merciless. People get tortured and killed with no "epic scene" or "epic music". There's a web everyone is trapped into and nobody knows who the spider is. There are people out there, ready to tear your life apart with no remorse just to obtain one word from you. You can trust nobody, because you don't know who's with you or against you, the enemy is unclear, and even when it is, you don't know how big and powerful it is. There are people who'll try to fuck with your head just because they need it for minor purposes: your sanity is meaningless to them, sometimes even your life. You can be a woman, a man, an elder, a child... you're just an ant under the boot. That massacre at the school in the series... I seriously wasn't expecting that. They didn't show anything, the camera was fixed. But you could hear everything. And "everything" was just a few screams of teachers and children, a few gunshots and then silence. No music, no artistic camera angles. Nothing but cold death. I don't care what some people think about Utopia. It's a masterpiece. Period. It completely changed my way of seeing things. Today, I can't watch a film or read a book about conspiracies or secret agencies without feeling a shiver along the neck. Same with interrogation scenes and execution scenes. The feeling of danger is real.
HauntingGround4ever Man you damn right, that series reflect our total world's reality , the system, the government try to fuck us everyday, I loved that series and the message sended with, it made me cry it made me scary and it made me change
You nailed it. You see a lot of hollow depictions of torture and death in media, but this may be unrivalled in just how much it can force you into the shoes of the characters and make these things real and as terrifying as they should be. If you want to see and experience really how grim things could be, then you have to watch this show.
Your sanity is meaningless to them... even your life. I truly hope you never find out how completely and utterly right everything your saying is... apparently I actually had at least a little value to them and because of that they were even worse to me than the others. Honestly though, sanity and the reality you live in are just social constructs. Well more like a play at the theatre. Its live action so there are odd mistakes but ignore them. You might watch these shows and dream about lifting the curtains and meeting the wizard. I only got a peek. A glimpse so quick I couldnt make anything out... it isn't your sanity they destroy. It's your entire reality that becomes crumbled... everything you thought you knew. I'd say turned upside down but it's more that it was basically mostly all made up. All I'll say is the media is their best tool. Not even gonna go into cause even if there was one person who actually believed and decided to go down the rabbit hole, you'll never get out. It's not like the movies. Where you can pull some hail Mary and get out. You can trick them and escape.

The sound design for the British original is so much better than what Amazon has going on. Not because the Amazon version is bad, this is just that good.
I think what makes it great is that there's so little, it's like 4 sounds at the same time in the most intense part, but it's mostly 1 sound at a time. and the series is the same, it's a lot of not very much which actually makes it feel more raw and real
theres only one bad thing about that series..... that after I finished it nearly no show was able to fullfill the standards it set. ITS THAT DAMN GOOD in my opinion the cinematography, character building, each episode was its own movie and last but not least that twisted soundtrack
Glad Pyro's monster video essay has turned some people onto Utopia! I just got done watching that behemoth of the a video, I watched Utopia when it first aired and thought it was amazing, but nobody I knew seemed to be watching it and barely anyone I know now has heard of it. Certainly one of my favourite pieces of visual media, walking around the city in lockdown listening to the soundtrack during a flu-like pandemic was surreal to say the least.
Another point: Bloody IMDB coverage for this show is nearly shit! They don't even have the poster of the show. No synopsis, nothing. It's not fair because in terms of quality and level of addictiveness, Utopia deserves way much better.
I love this. There is just such a sense of malice with this song, while having exactly the same sense of alienation to it. Fantastic at giving those vibes
I have watched this show sober, drunk, sad, happy, with friends, alone and stoned. I have watched it repeatedly, trying to find some semblance of normality, or mediocrity in it. But in vain. I thought it had to have one frame, one moment, one plot device that's used in all other TV shows on the planet. Nope. I didn't really go to sleep for a while after I finished watching the two seasons for the first time. I don't consider Utopia a TV show. It is a message from a realm that's obviously not our own, meant for this world. I have dreams where every person who worked on this show dies in some mysterious way or another. Goddamn this show and everything about it.

An amazing series, so original in its style of filming.... so sinister, so atmospheric. Best thing I've seen on telly for a long time, nothing compares really.
I had just finished watching the last episode (the night it was airing) when I got a knock on the door. A lad I knew who lived on the same street as me had a pair of 2 week year old kittens in each pocket of his hoodie. Both white with grey tabby markings. He said "They will be left on the street tonight, if you don't take them in." So I did, and named the girl Jessica and the boy R.B. They have grown up to be a bit like their names sake. Jess is tiny for her age, slim, quick and fairly devious. She torrments the other cats in the neighborhood. R.B is huge, simple and will happily kill anything that walks in front of him.

As a TV show, I loved it!!! And my phone rings with the best part of this soundtrack since 2 days after I watched the first episode. I think I have a thing for the British TV series. Can anyone recommend me shows like this made by British producers?
I was watching the filming of part of this series last August in Liverpool city centre. It was fascinating, not least because the cast were all having a really good laugh off camera and it was such a contrast to watch the "finished product" in TV. I thought it was excellent.
Same. Then went on a mission (which mainly involved looking at the credits) It's all from this guy cristobal tapia de veer. The bit from 1.10 is so bloody good!
This show now only exists in the minds of a certain few 30 somethings, and they know TV peaked with this. And it was taken from us, and will never return. This level of surrealism/darkness in scriptwriting was quintessentially British, and it was pure modern horror. Likely never to be reached again. Shame on you Channel 4 for cancelling it. You proper twats.

Black mirror
Yeah, black mirror is really good
just so fucking insanely good ! one of the best tv series i have seen but this soundtrack is absolutely breathtaking !
Just watched the two series on tvs catch up.....what can I say cept...BEST EVER SHOW CHANNEL 4 EVER PUT OUT....excellent show,
still sends chills down my spine
I was watching the filming of part of this series last August in Liverpool city centre. It was fascinating, not least because the cast were all having a really good laugh off camera and it was such a contrast to watch the "finished product" in TV. I thought it was excellent.
Same. Then went on a mission (which mainly involved looking at the credits) It's all from this guy cristobal tapia de
veer.
The bit from 1.10 is so bloody good!
This was the best thriller I have ever seen. The music and the way it was filmed was all perfect!!
Coronavirus 2020
The end is happening
How didn't I know about this masterpiece before???
Okay but where is Jessica Hyde?
I’m convinced you can put this music over anything and make it dramatic
You legit can.
