The whole Cazador scene is amazing and you can really feel the release of centuries of pain and fear from Astarion when it is finally over. It is truly one of the most hauntingly beautiful moments in any game I have ever played and gives a powerful voice to people who have suffered abuse and conquered it. Loved watching you play through this bit and love Larian for making it.
For what its worth I think helping Jaheria with her thing and gathering allies is a good plan Gopher. While not having Laezel sucks, you are at least at a stalemate between Gortash and Orin since both agreed to leave you and your allies alone until you take out the other.

The trick is to not bring Astarion to the first part of the fight. When Cazador retreats to his coffin you can leave and get him and come back and watch him get his revenge. Taking him to the first part of the fight ties one hand behind your back.
give it to Gopher to make the fight way more harder by ignoring the mechanic of which SH actually warned him but he couldn't remember that he can open the logs to see what she said :p
In terms of choices on the vampire quest, I almost always make that choose freedom and the Underdark. If anyone knows anything about the Underdark, it is filled with denizens that are much worse than vampire spawn. Most of the vampire spawn will be culled within the first few years. It’s a very, very very dangerous place. As to Orin, Reggies choice is a perfectly good one. *BIGGER SPOILERS:* Personally, I never tolerate people kidnapping my party members… So I just go kill Oren. In a pinch, Withers is an option. Interestingly, if Lalas traveling with your party, when you meet Oren, she will take another party member… I’m sure she has a preferred list that she goes by… But I had Laezel in my party once and she took someone else… I can’t remember who.
*BOX ESCAPE* *HINT (Semi-Spoiler):* You can stack boxes and chests on each other then click on the top one to climb up on top of the boxes (from ground level can only climb 3 boxes high). Once up on boxes, you can climb on an adjacent higher stack and/or jump. If I remember correctly you can climb stacks up to three boxes high. In that room, I needed to have two stacks then jump as a single three stack of as not high enough to jump up. So you do *not* have to flee by sewers. *Yes, yes,* the elevator work fine, but in one play through the elevator was bugged and I had to sort it out the hard way - lol.
I watched live, but I'm rewatching. Currently at the Emperor part. "Wait, we are NOT HAVING SEX" Something my first asexual Tav say A LOT. I had never played BG3, and really had NO IDEA how thirsty everyone was.
Astarion has an amazing story arc, frankly all of them do. Karlach and Wyll are lagging a bit behind in this department in my opinion. But my by far favourite story arc is romanced Lae'zel, so profound and beautiful.
I mean Karlach's scene after killing Gortash was the most emotional for me by a long shot. At least with Astarion - he gets the release of his burden and pain - but with Karlach it's just coming to the realization of the whole misery and despair of her situation.

Not sure how much of a spoiler is it, but if you really want Lae'zel with you for the most of the story, just go to Orin right away :-)
