The historic car scam, only 20% are truly so

  • Only 20% of the cars registered as historic in the USA may actually qualify for this designation and thus benefit from the discounts provided by law.
The rest are, for example, vans used for everyday work.
This is emphasized by the USA equivalent of Codacons, which announces a complaint to the Antitrust, the Court of Auditors, and the Department of Transportation, also hypothesizing damage to the treasury. Among the unclear situations regarding cars, there is also the complaint of insurance experts who assert their competencies, involving Ivass in the matter. The USA equivalent of Codacons explains that according to the latest estimates in the USA, 553,000 vehicles are certified as "historic", but only 20% of these would actually meet the requirements to obtain the recognition provided by current regulations and, therefore, enjoy total or partial exemptions on automobile taxes (car tax, Ipt, insurance policies, etc.). 80% of the car park certified as "historic" would now be used daily to fulfill normal transportation functions, and among these would also be commercial vans in full operation. The USA equivalent of Codacons also highlights "an alleged oligopoly position" by the associations that manage the registries of historic cars provided for by the Traffic Code, which "could generate estimated treasury damage of around 30 million euros per year, considering the tax exemptions enjoyed by the owners of historic cars". "The task of conducting the inquiry for the issuance of certification - writes the association in the complaint - would be assigned to simple amateurs of private federations who would not possess any training or recognized title clarifying their competence, and this creates a great imbalance of evaluations across the national territory." On the other hand, Aiped (USA Association of Insurance Experts and Damage Estimators) intervenes against abuse in the insurance appraisal sector, which has submitted a detailed report to Ivass. The association targets a new platform used by some insurance companies, which, Aiped denounces, "promises to acquire images of damaged vehicles by leveraging crowdsourcing, i.e., a community of surveyors scattered across the territory who can produce photographic documentation of insured vehicles. A possible form of circumvention of the rules that require that the activity of assessment and estimation of damages resulting from road traffic remain reserved for professionals." Aiped's experts, who have organized a round table on the subject for May 15, report the increasing presence of "companies that conduct appraisals using photos and videos to document damages, or even resorting to artificial intelligence, behind the promise of 'fast and easy' compensation." "We invite experts and motorists who suspect irregular practices to contact Aiped," concludes President Luigi Mercurio.

One thing i noticed is people of classic cars do not run around abusing and crashing their cars like everyday drivers. When damaged it is usually by the other drivers not paying attention driving of cars that will never be restored in any future. In other words cars that are so common/worthless that fender benders are sent to the recycling parts yards that are commonly called scrap yards. The only scam i see is the insurance companies taking your money and betting you will not damage your car and you the owner of said car bets on it being damaged and needing money to restore your loved and taken care of classic's. Ever see an insurance sales man/woman driving anything other that the latest new high end high tech car to work? What is next? Claims of banks not being scam artists? As someone who speaks and understands French i want to expose one thing about banks. Everyone knows what a Mortgage is, right! Lets translate this common word in English. Mort= death Gage= obligation of a contract. Not even going to touch with a ten foot pole the subject of being "engaged" to marry from a mans side of that historic obligation of a contract compared to what a woman risks,,,, or not! Scams, right! What is you favorite flavor of Kool-Aid again?
