What a crazy 2nd addition to the podcast. I've always loved Ponysmasher so much. He's so inspiring and humble.
@Don't Read My Profile Picture ok
Awesome interview with David F Sandburg is really cool. He really likes the stuff he does and it really comes on in his art. He's pretty dope.
As a swede I am so proud of David ❤️
you make it sound like sweden is in desperate need of global recognition^^
@@S1nwar yeah well how many notable swedish directors (in hollywood) are there haha
@@S1nwar How so? We know we are quite prominent in many ways. And a bit we're proud of it.
@@S1nwar okeeey, well, it was actually meant more towards David (even if he never sees this comment).
My comment was meant to be a nod at south parks "canadian world bureau"
David is funny af and should make horror comedies
a comedy is hard, let a lone a comedy horror.
@@fscottfitzgerald115I mean he’s done a good job with it in the Shazam movies so far so I think her could pull it off
@@fscottfitzgerald115 He made Shazam and Lights out. He's a master of both. Why not.
Look at Peter Jacksons early stuff. Horror comedies, and also a self-trained director :-)
I honestly love David. He's a director I really look up to. Great podcast!
This is cool. 2 filmmakers who had their careers started because of RUclips come to talk about the film business and more. Loving this podcast Chris 👍🏽
I feel like it's a little premature to call Chris a filmmaker
@@Nova-fh2et Shelby Oaks has been filmed and is in post-production with a release later this year. Although it’s his debut, sounds like a filmmaker to me.
@@JordanNMovies thanks for letting me know. I must have missed Chris talking this thing up in every. single. video. I guess you could call him a filmmaker in the same sense that Tom Brady and my uncle Greg, who plays for his company's softball team every Tuesday night, are both athletes
@@Nova-fh2et this is funny to me 😂 but s/o Uncle Greg for being a athlete
Wonderful podcast, no joke, it's the only podcast that catches my attention beginning to end. It's interesting to know how nerve-wracking the making of Lights Out was, you could feel David's anxiety when he was talking about the process. Glad he overcame all that!
I love Anabelle Creation. Its utterly relentless
Agree that movie scared the sht out of me
Eventhough I didn't find Creation all that scary, I was pleasantly surprised how fun the movie was, it's way better than the first movie which is obviously just a cheap cash grab
It is the best, most sophisticated Annabelle movie by far.
These behind the scenes interviews are so good! Thanks for these Chris!
Chris thank you for everything youre doing for indie filmmakers. The way youre trying to help your audience is truly heroic.
Incredible collaboration, love both of you guys
Saw the title and immediately clicked, Chris is making moves 🙌
So glad to see this in my feed. I've been following pony smasher for forever I was so happy when they gave him Shazam. This is like a dream to see you guys talk.
I love how humble David is
This was great, Sandberg was a fantastic guest. Definitely brought back childhood memories with VHS and Mini-DVD!
Another fantastic episode with David! It's really awesome seeing people that worked their asses off getting the Hollywood success that they deserve. Never seen the LIGHTS OUT short. Going to see it now. Can't wait for the next guest, Chris!
Can't wait for the Jordan Peele episode!
This was great, David is so cool and so real. His videos and talks like this are the inspiration I need. So hyped for Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
David’s one of the best and humbling filmmakers out there. Love the man, and his work.
two of my biggest inspirations for filmmaking!! i look up to both of you so much. this is great
Never clicked so fast on anything in my life. Waiting for this to happen since the beginning of this podcast.
It's been said many times, I can imagine, but I'm really enjoying your podcast Chris! It's personal, it's funny, and it's incredibly interesting. I hope you'll be able to continue this series for a long time.
I love David...hes such an inspiration to me and I'm sure other people who are autistic as well.
I tried to watch "Lights Out" once. I was in a particularly squeamish mood that night. I couldn't get past the beginning. Now I have to go back. It scared the fertilizer out of me. Thank You both so much. This was very informative and insightful. Arigatou gozaimasu sensei Sanberg.
Loved this. Found Sandberg's youtube channel a couple of years back and regularly rewatch his behind the scenes videos. Seeing how he made Lights Out made me buy the blu ray, and watching it for the first time with behind the scenes knowledge was a great experience. Huge fan of you both so this was a superb listen. Thank you.
Yesss, absolutely love David and his channel with videos insight!
I can't believe Chris is making it happen. so happy for you. hopefully, your movie gets you more opportunities. this interview is very humbling
Love both of you guys. Can't wait for Shazam! Fury Of The Gods And Shelby Oaks.
Great interview. I've been following his RUclips channel since Lights Out and always take pleasure it seeing his success.
Chris, this podcast is so cool! These 2 episodes are really good so far! Keep up the great work!!
Great episode Chris this was fascinating. I really appreciate the sharing of the money figures because that’s something that we never get to hear about so that’s super cool to hear what he was paid for scale.
This is pure gold.
David is awesome!
This is amazing!, Really enjoying the podcast so far ⭐️
Thank you so much for this awesome conversation
I love this new format. And David is refreshingly "normal" (which again makes him extraordinary, that he stays so grounded) and seems to be such a cool guy! And super interesting questions Chris!!
I've looked up to David ever since Lights Out released and I've loved all of his work since
Dudes one of my fave working directors! Loved this discussion!!
Thank You for the Interview with David Sandberg and Video 😀
I love this! You gotta get David back. So much more to tell about his carreer.
What a extremely welcome surprise!
awesome as always, keep it up!
He seems like a really cool dude. I look forward to see what else he does in the future!
My fav episode of the podcast
These are great Chris, keep 'em coming!
Chris, thanks so much for bringing us such an amazing interview with my favorite movie director. ❤🎉
AWE! Movie Magic was such a great show!
As a kid, I wanted to work in animatronics. I didn't have an outlet to get into the industry, and CG gained popularity. So never pursued it. Realized later, had I studied, I could've had a career in cosplay and gotten into specialized fields in film making or even just engineering.... Shit.
Follow your dreams folks!
This is such a great video, I need to rewatch it and add time stamps
Awesome!! Thanks for that 🤩
Such an amazing interview !!
One of my fave directors today
2 directors that inspire me!
The photo of Chris looks like the guy that creepily turns around from the urinal when you walk into a public restroom
Good talk, really liked his movies as well.
Two of my favourite movie people together!
LOVED this!
Great episode, would genuinely love to see you have a conversation with Joel Haver, a very different kind of filmmaker than who you've had on so far, but your both so amazing
Great to see a swedish director!
Great episode!
This is actually dope
David is the awesomest dude
I love Shazam. It’s probably my favorite DC movie along with the dark knight. I also met Jack Dylan Grazer who plays Freddy. Really cool dude IRL
Really excited for the movie "Chris".. Amazing episode 👏, Have you seen "Knock at the cabin" ?
Oh sick
Hopefully you can get his support for Shelby Oaks
Great podcast!
Huge get! Love Shazam
This is huge Chris!!
Great interview
you know what? I don't enjoy podcasts at all, but this one might turn me around :)
Who else is waiting for that one legend to add time stamps for the rest of us😂
I love this podcast, looking forward to the next one. Especially how open you guys are about the things you don't know as a newcomer to the industry.
This was cool. I wish I was a bigger fan of his. Shazam is the only one I care for
Legend
I had no idea he was Swedish 😮
Ok... Chris if you're seeing this, I'm not getting this in my sub box. I had to click on your youtube page, and then see it (to my surprise). Btw, great conversation between two greats.
COOL!!!
DAVID F. SANDBERG?!?? so cool
Chris you filmmaker and youtuber, you can't manage video production of the podcast? Zoom/Skype call capture seems like easiest stuff
Autismo powers ftw! x D. Thanks David and Chris! Lights Out and that one Annabelle film were dope and the bomb tho!
Movie Magic on HBO in the 90s! Watched it in Argentina too like religion.
Whatever happened to that my Annabelle creation contest David?
Get RackaRacka once their film comes out!
Let’s go
This episode should’ve been a much bigger hit by now. The thumbnail is to blame for sure.
Can we drill deeper on this haunting “ticking clock” of doom feeling? Why do we insist on believing that after a certain age, if we haven’t gotten into the industry, we are done, just like athletes after a given age? How does this make any sense? It is, unfortunately, understandable when it comes to actors due to their image and the industry’s fixation on youth, but directors - or anyone behind the camera?! Why do we get so obsessed with following on the footsteps of Wells or Spielberg and others who broke in at a very young age?
I wouldn't say he's a temporary filmmaker, he's been doing it a while
bruh... chris said "contemporary" filmmaker
1:01:00 good to know that other creators feel the same 😅
What video game do you think should be a good movie?
It's now my head cannon that every time he kills Lotta in a movie, her characters last name in the script is named after that cameraman he fired.
When's the Review for 'Knock at the Cabin' dropping, huh?
"I grew up with David F Sandberg"
Really Chris?
👌👍
ponysmasher 😍
Chris Stuckmann interview one of the greatest director on his podcast. 🙌🏾
Please add time stamps 🙏
It's interesting about how the ending changed everything. I watched it on the DVD, and I also didn't like it as much. Just a year before Lights Out, Mama came out, and it's also based on a viral RUclips video. I rewatched it a while ago and I remembered it as a very mediocre movie, but I was surprised to see it was really good. I was wondering why I didn't like it the first time, but then I got to the ending, which is terrible, and suddenly I felt like the movie was really mediocre again. So yes, the ending is very important.
I thought we just had Christmas?
1:00:00
From the shorts Ive directed I can tell you its always been the camera operator who I dont get along with. Always the fucking camera operator. I think its because they just dont understand your vision. So all you're left with is to tell them to trust you. Just trust you and shut up.
Sam Raimi. Ryan coogler, Destin Daniel Kretton, Kevin Fiege, and Peyton Reed. All next. I hope happens next if possible.
Get Kyle Edward Ball on the pod
Who else wants to know who were Stucky's Hayden Christensens?
