Cha Bang Ang actully a Thai dessert. Which made from karamel, cincau , condensed mild, basil seed which been soak in water, which it looks like some. Flooting frog eggs…. 😅😂. and other stuff.

The east cost states like Kelantan, Terengganu and bordering towns of Pahang food taste are sweeter compared to west and southern states which are more spicier. Obviously, you can buy in smaller quantity. Malaysian are very hospitable to foreign tourists especially from UK being part of commenwealth countries. Enjoy your road tour. 🙏
Except in the fish and meat sections, one will notice that practically all vendors in this market (Pasar Siti Khadijah) are women. This is one unique aspect of the traditional markets in Kelantan.
Kelantan is known as the Real Cradle of Malay heritages due to many Malay cultures originated from Kelantan included Malay past times; traditional kites (Wau Bulan) which is also symbol for Malaysia Airlines, gasing (spinning top), wayang kulit (shadow puppet show), and crafts included Malay batik and Malay songket (handwoven fabric) and diverse of Malay foods and delicacies included nasi kerabu, Kelantanese laksa and laksam, and varieties of kuih/kueh with famous ones are Akok, Tepung Pelita, etc. Kelantan is one of Malaysian states predominantly Malays which minorities of Chinese Perananakan, Indians, Siamese (similar to Thai people) and Orang Asli (aborigines) but assimilated with Malay cultures and speak local Kelantanese dialect. It less developed compared to other states in Malaysia since it was ruled by the opposition political party from year 1990 until today, so for more than 3 decades (33 years) it was neglected by Federate government in Kuala Lumpur.
The sweet deserts you buy stuffed in a plastic pack, are all made of egg and sugar. The white one is made of egg white. The yellow one is made of egg yolk.
That ketupat stall is my mom's favourite. She'd make a point to stop by the market and buy heaps of them to bring back to KL. Put them in the freezer and they're good for a few month. Just re-steam them when you want to eat

32:31 That could be Malay beef floss... "Serunding Daging". You could buy a pack of "Serunding Daging" at the same place, and toss it into your bag for snacks later, or as add on to your rice. It last a long time. A pack of 1kg could set you back about RM50-RM80.
The orange balls yea, it's pure sugar.. Its sweet, too sweet for me, coming from the south.
During Ramadhan it was served as part of the Iftar meal, students from outside Kelantan dare not touch it... seriously too sweet for us. We'd just move it to our Kelantanese friends food tray, they can have it all.
Again thanks so much
Cha Bang Ang actully a Thai dessert. Which made from karamel, cincau , condensed mild, basil seed which been soak in water, which it looks like some. Flooting frog eggs…. 😅😂. and other stuff.
Ahhh cheers for explaining!
@@EllisWR wc ✌🏼
Minute 17.10 triangular stuff wrapped in leaf (banana I think ) arranged on skewers...you said looks like charcoal...it's called satar (not sate)...should try it. Good stuff.
Thanks we wanna try! Want to find fresh grilled though
*First* 🤭
_by the way, i'm from Pasir Mas_
_enjoy Kelantan !_
Amazing thanks for the support!
The triangular-shaped sticky rice is ketupat. Do try nasi tumpang, the cone-shaped dish at the side of akok at the first kuih stall that you went to
Stay tuned! 🙏🇲🇾
Hai welcome to msia friend, have a nice visit to kelantan
Thanks appreciate it!
Ok I'm done watching all your Malaysian videos everyday 😄 next please

Thanks so much 🙏🇲🇾
new subs...great one mate. keep it up
Thanks so much
Well if u meet slightly older/senior people, then they would easily mention Shearer, Tim Sherwood n Co.... Haha waiting for that moment capture in video. Or perhaps once we see each other😅
Ahah let's see!
Thanks my friend. We love it here
Except in the fish and meat sections, one will notice that practically all vendors in this market (Pasar Siti Khadijah) are women. This is one unique aspect of the traditional markets in Kelantan.
Yes very interesting
My favourite state probably aswell
The sweet deserts you buy stuffed in a plastic pack, are all made of egg and sugar. The white one is made of egg white. The yellow one is made of egg yolk.
Cheers for info
Beras is when it is still uncooked. When cooked, we called it rice.
Thanks 🙏
That ketupat stall is my mom's favourite. She'd make a point to stop by the market and buy heaps of them to bring back to KL. Put them in the freezer and they're good for a few month. Just re-steam them when you want to eat
Really as if
Malaysian love language is food 😊
That's why we love Malaysia 🇲🇾❤️
Hi. Really enjoy your video. Please come to Melaka next.
Maybe one day! What you recommend? :)
@@EllisWR in Melaka a lot of historical places and great food. Really like to meet you because you're from Blackburn. Old school football mate 94/95 epl champion.
@@fuadhassan490 Yes you know it! 🏴 Maybe one day we'll visit!
Thank you 🙏🏻 Love from Kelantanese ^_^ I'm from Kelantan
Love Kelantan have great day sir
Haven't seen the place from pandemic started on late 2018.. thanks for showing that place for me..really missed my birth place 🥰
Thanks for watching 🇲🇾❤️
BTW, if you try mangosteens, don't open them by breaking them between your palms. That's the wrong painful way of doing it.
Just push down on the stem thingy. That would open the fruit ☺
Thanks 🙏
Have you try laksam... Remember to eat with sambal belacan 😊
Thanks Fiza
Old timer like me will know blackburn by blackburn rovers fc..alan shearer of course..they had their golden days
Yes Zed! 🏴
Not to forget damien duff
Most malaysians who enjoy football would love to talk about EPL. Its one of the best ice breaking topics.
A good amount of Malaysians know my team Blackburn rovers also!
@@EllisWRHaish just who doesn’t.? It’s sad your team has become a fallen giant now. 😢
You should ask the local where you can find a place they make batek and songket. Or Maybe you should go to Terengganu where people there start the industry masing batik and songket
Good idea
12:50 Tenggiri (Spanish mackerels) is what is used in Nasi Dagang.
Thanks!
Randomly came across your channel 2 months ago.
I've been to Vietnam 4 times, Laos and Thailand.
I think yourself and Alicia are very similar to myself in the way you choose to experience the less travelled parts of countries you visit!
Love your work, keep it up!
P.S. Being an Aussie, I think you need to work on your Aussie accent when you talk to the animals. That might be why they don't understand you! 😉🤣
It's a bit weird for a northerner English to speak in Aussie accent to animals in Malaysia, don't you think? I think the animals in Malaysia don't even care if you speak English with them either it's Australian or North English accent 😊😊😊😅
Ahah worst part is I usually talk to them in a scouse accent for some reason. Appreciate the kind words.
Aussie accent deffo needs work
I'm a bit weird
@@EllisWR yeah I noticed the Scouse accent too!
Malaysia looks amazing! I wouldn't say it surprised me, but I think the hospitality from the Malay people is unmatched (even compared to the Thai people), and that's saying something! And then there's the food! ❤️
I think I need to put Malaysia on my list. If it wasn't for you and Alicia, I don't think I would've even thought twice about visiting.
@@stonerduke it's such a great part of the world You really should visit we had no expectations when we arrived and we had an incredible time we're already planning a second trip back. I'd say the people were some of the most hospitable we've come across and the best part is everyone is just genuine, genuine friendly interactions with no motive other than kindness. Then yeah the food is heaven the diversity of the food holy moly.
Pakcik tak try ke nasi zaiman sedap tuh dah bertahun tahun zaiman dekat nih juga tapi jauh sikit ade banyak banyak kedai pakcik cari tulisan zaiman nasi die memang sedap kalau orang makan pedas macam pakcik boleh try tuh 😊
Kuih Akok, to translate the taste to British taste, it is near to sweet egg pancake with a bit of smokiness to it.
It's pretty good stuff
Yet another top market vid
Malaysians like whiteman very much..they feel proud if they could get along with whiteman.but not with own ethnicity....they hve prejudice against social status of their own ethnicity. Whiteman considered high class and you can be celebrity for malayaians.I do not know if this kinda racism practised by malaysians.
We are not high class I promise you we're the same as you 🇲🇾🙏
I only remember tim sherwood as blackburn rovers captain and the team only became the league champ. 1 time, somewhere in the eighties.alan shearer is newcastle united captain
94-95 premier league winners 🏴
Before the pandemic i use to see lots of backpackers roaming around Kota Bharu
Really? We didn't see another foreigner pretty much our whole time on the east coast
@@EllisWR yeah i think now people don’t backpacking that much anymore
@@EllisWR also now is not the the school holidays yet
@@memew5784 I hate backpackers, always rude, ignorant and have no respect for local customs
@ 20:13 Lovely chap
Don't know why but I find your deadpan delivery to be just funny 😄
Ahah I'm glad you feel that way
2:50 hey you should try Malaysian mango it's called harum manis from perlis state..king of the mango ....like durian have king durian (musang king) we also have king of pineapple called MD2 Nenas

Gerai Kak Moh, the ownner used to be my neighbour 🤣
We Malaysia when we met someone.. we do not say.. Good morning.. Evening or Night...
We usually say Assalamualaikum no matter it is in morning.. evening or Night because we practice the ISLAMIC practice..
Yes and I'm neither Malaysian or Muslim so clearly don't know that lol
Say "saya mahu cuba' & "boleh beli sedikit" = I want to try & can I buy a few. It might help you to buy few from what normaly they sell.
Thanks my friend
Ellis, you can just ask to buy 2 pieces of kuih from the stall in a small town or any stall, just to try it out ,even they may tell you ringgit 5 or 10 for how many pieces, bcus you r tourist n they can understand n give you the privilege,of course you can’t ask that in a shopping outlets bcus the price is fix,No worries Malaysian r all very warm, kind n generous ,n willing to help✌️
Thanks Janet!
Main ingredients for 'kueh akok' are sugar, coconut milk, eggs and flour.
Cheers for explaining
Try the triangle sticky rice & eat with dry shredded rendang (beef/chicken)
Soon!
U have seen more of Kelantan than me... and I'm Malaysian hahaha
Cheers for supporting
