She's not rich, but her heart is pure gold. It's a bittersweet video, Chris. I wish you all the best on your new adventure. And I wish ba great health.
She's worked all her life and knows not much more then to take care of people as if they were her family, it's generosity of spirit that much more of the world needs to follow.
I got teary eyes when grandma said she cried so much because everyone of her family left her😢. God bless you, Chris, for being kind and gentle to grandma. Grandma loves and treats you like family because your kindness and warmth resonates with her. Grandma is a very strong and brave woman and you're simply amazing with your excellent command of spoken Vietnamese. I'm sad that you're leaving Vietnam for good but still hope that you'll visit grandma in future. A very emotional and meaningful video❤
She was very nice and professional, however the stores that offer a free exam often charge a higher price for the glasses to cover the price of the "free" service. Often it's better to go to a cheap place like this to learn your prescription(get them to write it down), then go elsewhere and shop around to buy the actual glasses, it can save a small fortune. That's what my grandfather and father always did, saved them hundreds every time(In Australia).
She doesn't realize we travel just to spend time with people like her... Next year Granny we’re coming back and Chris-I'll cover your meal too. When she shared that she’d cried so much over losing family that it affected her eyesight... really hit home.
I saw her this morning!! She is great, she talked with us instantly!! She is definitely hard to give money to, but I made it happen. She didn't let me leave without giving food to us to take home !! What a beautiful person she truly is !!! ❤❤❤
That’s great! Glad to hear! It’s definitely much harder for me as I’ve known her a long time, but you can see that even as a new customer she makes it difficult 😂 Thanks for supporting her!
this actually brought tears to my eyes man! Grandma is such an incredibly sweet and generous woman. Thank you Chris for taking her to her eye exam and getting her the glasses!
so sweet of the lady in the store playing along with the cheap price so grandma doesnt object haha. youre rlly kind for doing this. i hope grandma will let people help her more often
I moved in with my Grandmother so she could enjoy her final years being waited upon hand and foot! I couldn't imagine leaving someone so precious. She left us last October aged 96. It was an honour and a privilege to look after her.
Hey Chris, I'll stop by the restaurant when I go out there! See how she's doing. I know very little Vietnamese so hoping I can bring an interpreter lol! If she hasn't gotten her eyes checked I'd be more than happy to help out. I'll be out there in December this year.
I feel like it’s just a “grandma” thing , no matter how much you want to help them, they feel it’s their responsibility to spoil you with everything they have as their way of showing affection, bless her. I’d still find another way to maybe give her some money, like leaving it with one of her family members or employees she trusts Edit: oh man, so sweet of you to get her the glasses, can tell she really really appreciates you, the way she considers you her nephew aha
I love how you care for each other, like a grandma and grandson. As the writer Chingiz Aitmatov said, the most difficult thing for a person is to be human, and you both are truly genuine
Chris, i normally dont leave comments in your channel but this video really touches my heart by seeing how such caring person you are toward grandma. Sincerely hope everything goes well on her health and hopefully her family member can bring her for proper eyes check. Grandma is such a kind and generous person. How hard working she is to run this restaurant and works 7 days at her age 😢. God bless her and Chris. Hopefully grandma' restaurant is getting more and more business so she doesnt need to work too hard for her living. This grandma just made me remember of my family members. I started missing them....
If I was living there I go 2 or 3 times a week. But I am living in the state. The love of 2 different kinds of human , love and care for no colors . Gos bless grandma with strong hearts and healthy. Thank Chris and Max❤❤❤❤❤ .
More than your command of the language, it's your ability to navigate the care of our elders (who are stubborn and only want to help you but not take any help) with dignity, respect, and love that really makes you stand out. I've only just discovered your channel, but it's an instant follow for me. Thanks for sharing and best of luck on your new adventure.
Definitely the best video you have posted. I am Vietnamese and I know she truly adores you. Good souls always find one another. Take care and enjoy your new journey. 😊
On my depressed days, I found your channel, and your video in Vietnam absent mindedly made me feel heartwarming. You're such a nice, sweet, polite and gentle guy. Your Vietnamese is so impressive, incredible, better than any other foreigners, who speak Vietnamese, that I've ever known. Now you're leaving Vietnam, going back to the US. I just wanna wish you all the best in the world 'cause you deserve it. Thank you Chris for making this world a little better everyday 💜
I'm planning a Vietnam trip in 5 months and I can't wait to go give this absolute saint of a woman as much business as I can!! It's one of the things I'm looking forward to the most. Bless her heart.
I'll miss your Vietnam videos. That's how I originally found you. First video I ever saw, was when you were with Max I think. In an ice cream place I think or boba. I forgot, but Some lady was trying to talk shit about you guys and giving them COVID I think, and she got nervous when she realized you understood her lol. You can never say no to Grandma btw! Those are the rules for Grandmas everywhere! 🤣 Man, I remember the first time you guys found her too. I'll miss these Vietnam vids and her energy. 🙏🏽
Pal. I don’t get to watch many of your vids but when one pops up with grandma I’m straight on it..she is such a beautiful sole and she makes me laugh so much. You 3 are very lucky to have this relationship in your life. Sad that you are leaving but I know it won’t be long till you are back…if grandma sees this I’d like to say…you are an amazing woman…
Always loved seeing her. I wish I could go to Vietnam, I would love to see her in person. She's so selfless and just an amazing person. When she tells you not to worry about her, I just want to hold her hand and tell her that I do care about her - how she's been one of the best people we've met in Vietnam. (Heck, even the world.) I'm so glad she let down her guard a bit for you to do something nice for her. God bless her!
You’re the one traveler youtuber I follow. Love your honesty, how friendly you are with locals and not beeing negatives about what you see. I mean thats normal after 5 years but still. Thanks for the trip in true Vietnam, and I’m looking forward whats next for you
My husband and I were so excited to see you had a new video. It was quite emotional and I cried. All the best Chris, your videos with Max have become our favourite. Also was so happy to read above someone will check in on grandma for you
Good luck on your journey. I understand the feeling of getting old and wanting more peace and quiet. But instead of leaving for good, it may be good to come back once in a while, maybe in a few years.
Hey Chris, it's sad to see that you leave Vietnam because your Videos always bring joy to me, I started watching your Videos while I had Anxiety and it always made me stop thinking about the bad things that happened. It's nice that you help grandma like that and it's also nice to see how the younger people act in front of Grandma, like the Lady in the Shop for the Glasses and the Taxi guy! I wish u luck and joy on your new journey and I hope we will hear from u soon, again. Take care
I think youtube has only ever served me your grandma videos. They always manage to come at a time when I need them. I never got to know my grandmas so this is so sweet. I am glad you are helping her and if I ever find myself in Vietnam I will visit.
Hello Chris, I enjoyed your video so much. It warms my heart to see how you treat your grandma and other people. You have a wonderful soul. I was proud of myself to understand both languages but Im more impressed with your language and social skill as a vietnamese german. Please stay healthy and happy and don't change too much!
Just leave her an envelope with a few hundred dollars & a letter thanking her for all the unconditional love she has given you. Slide the envelope under her business door with "For Grandma"off early in the morning. She might get mad but she's gonna have no choice but to take it. Shoooott why don't you drop her info on how we can donate 💵
Came here to say this very thing! I would gladly help out Grandma; she feels like everyone's grandma at this point. However, I need to know that someone like Chris is involved in making it happen. I genuinely trust that he understands the situation and would ensure she receives the financial and personal support she needs, whatever it may be. If necessary, he'd find a way to discreetly slip the money under her door to make it happen.
You guys are the sweetest to her, reminds me of the grandma I never got to visit becuz she past away a few years ago. I love how you speak Vietnamese to her so respectful. ❤
Chris, Grandma, and Max are beautiful people. I'm so moved, and so are Vietnamese people! Thank you sincerely for what you do for Vietnamese people. I love you all, and best wishes for your future. Have a wonderful and safe trip back to the USA. God bless you all!
Chris, I've watched you for many years my friend all I can say is this world needs more people like you !! What you did for her is priceless she will love you always for the time and care you have given her. I will try to do my part and visit her next month when I return to Vietnam !!
This video is so sad. Very typical south vietnamese. She is so considerate that, she doesnt want to burden you with her sadness. Saying good bye with a smile and holding in her tears. Grandma is quite poor, brcause she has never ridden in a car before, doesnt have glasses her for degrading eyes but she would give you all the food that she has, even when shes not making much from the shop. That's vietnamese hospitality.
Please see more of Grandma, I know you like to travel around and that's great but I think this is some of your best content and would love to see more of you and Grandma
Chris I stumbled across your channel yesterday and was blown away by how much you look like my 26 year son.If you ever travel to Hobart Australia I would love to get a photo of my son and you together!! Super impressed by your command of the Vietnamese language and your relationship with the beautiful lady who you have called Grandma. Oh if only more people in this world where like you, with a willingness to adapt and learn the language and respect the culture the world would be a far kinder place. Asia gets into your blood and the more you visit the various countries the more times you return and then they begin to feel like a second home. I loved how you took Grandma to buy her glasses, even better when you and the sales assistant kept telling her it only cost 150k instead of the 450k you paid. You are a real blessing Chris to her and I loved your patience and kindness you gave her. God bless
Love this video, Chris. Good luck to you and Max back in the US. Very sweet of you to take grandma to get her eyes checked and get new glasses. This would definitely be such a memorable experience for you both.
Granda has a heart of pure gold. She reminds me of my grandmother, god rest her soul. She would serve me a plate of food .. then say here eat some more. I was tapping out at this point, my dad said , ‘ EAT IT ! ‘, she was his Mother in law.
This is such a heartwarming story. What a genuine person you are Chris, as is Grandma. Paying forward is the way to live ones life and you certainly did that here.
Wow, she got her glasses straight away. I had to wait two weeks for mine. Thank you for helping grandma. Its a blessing to have a loving grandma like her.
Sad to hear that both you and Max are leaving Vietnam! Love both of your RUclips channels especially you who could speak Vietnamese as well as a local with a northerner’s accent! Good luck!
Love this video, The loves between you and grandma is genuine and show that it has no barrier of skin colors or language. Just show the beautiful side of humanity ❤️❤️
Thank you for making this video. This is the first I’ve seen of yours and it’s so beautiful. I haven’t been to Vietnam yet, but I’ll make sure to add this to my bucket list ❤️
I think Vietnam 🇻🇳 welcomed you with open arms Chris. I admire your Vietnamese even your amazing accent in the Northern accent. You picked up the language better than most westerners I hear. You’re better than me and I am Vietnamese, born there but left to come to Australia 🇦🇺 when I was 5. Good luck with the change in your life. Most people only dream off he life you had/have. ❤️💛💚🙏. And bac/grandmother speaks about you both love her kids. Truly genuine love.
She reminds me so much of my grandmother. Sad to hear about you and Max leaving Vietnam. My favorite videos are of you guys driving around, eating, and talking with the locals. Thanks to you guys I find so many good food spots in Saigon
Chúc bà và gia đình luôn bình an.
Chris - you are one of the best travel Vloggers on RUclips - by far. I so enjoyed your videos from whatever country you traveled to, but particularly Vietnam. I hope that there will be more videos from you at some point in the future! All the best.
Very touched by your good deed! You're not only very kind to this grandma but also to other elderly people I 'd seen in your videos. You speak Vietnamese so well which impressed me right from the start when I began to follow your channel. Thank you for what You and your friend have done for these modest people throughout your stay in Viet Nam.
Thank you Chris. I started watching you a long while ago. I have wanted to visit Vietnam for an even longer time. I don't know why. It was like some magnetic pull. I got there this year and thank you for making sure I did because of your vlogs. I loved it of course but it was the people. Just lovely people. Thank you for your care and concern for Grandma. I would do the same for many people I met. I wish you well for the future. Live your best life.

Grandma is so kind!! You two are blessed to get to know her.
I love grandma! She’s so kind it melts my heart ❤
So sad when you leaving Vietnam. This country make me feel like second home! ❤
It did for me as well!
Good luck!
That’s a great thing you did for grandma to help her get her eyes checked. 🙏🏼👈🏼
Thank you, Chris, for the grandma !
Hope that you and your friend will come back to Vietnam soon.
Good trip to home !
Love this video, The loves between you and grandma is genuine and show that it has no barrier of skin colors or language. Just show the beautiful side of humanity ❤️❤️
You’re a good person Chris. Grandma will have such good memories with yours & Max interactions. This is such a great story. Thank you sir.
Sending blessings to Grandma. She is amazing and we all love her.
Thanks for getting grandma her glasses and vision and help paying for it ❤❤❤
It's soo good of you to help her out, like that. 😊
She reminds me so much of my grandmother. Sad to hear about you and Max leaving Vietnam. My favorite videos are of you guys driving around, eating, and talking with the locals. Thanks to you guys I find so many good food spots in Saigon
What a wonderful lady. I hope she gets her eyes better ❤
She is so cute! I wish all the best for you and her! ❤
Wow! What’s a beautiful relationship between you you and grandma! She’s very nice and warm lady! A grandma everyone wish to have!

This woman is like an angel in a little grandma like body. Your relationship with her is so lovely and pure thank you so much for sharing.
