    Just so you all know, I was rejected the first time I applied to Exeter. I applied for my lower (sophomore) year which has an even lower acceptance rate and got in. I kept trying, I wanted it. I had to make it happen. Things don't happen TO you, things happen FOR you. Remember this for the rest of your life and you'll continue to move forward.

    Great video! Thanks! Our son is fortunate to be at Exeter. He started last year as a Prep during an unusual COVID academic year and loves it so much that his kid sister wants to have the same opportunity. It's sad for us parents to let our children leave home so young but we are so happy to give them this amazing gift for life.

    I have a hard time fathoming that a child in middle school could even know of the existence and value of boarding schools. I didn’t even learn about them until I was midway through college. It really is shocking how people can live completely two different lifestyles and world views. I’d really like to study the difference in education, opportunity, achievement of the upper class and lower class from a sociocultural and socioeconomic perspective. I find it fascinating. Too bad I already received a business degree and do not think i am able to switch to psychology and sociology research so late. I guess that’s the effective difference between going to a school that pushes you to achieve and chase your dreams with risk and one that is just trying to get you to not become a homeless drug addict. It really does blow my mind. I cannot fathom being a young teenager with such an experience.

      I appreciate your thoughts. Though I believe a degree is just a piece of paper. It’s been 3 years since I graduated and I haven’t been to college, yet I work full time job creating commercials and doing what I want to. I say all this to say that it isn’t too late for you achieve your goal or to further your self fulfillment, you’re still here. You still have time. 1% step everyday will grow leaps and bounds as you know as a business major.

      Your proposal for research on such a topic is also something I’ve been interested in ever since leaving the boarding school bubble. If you make any headway, I’d love to hear about it. Exposure to such a school is important and that’s why I try to tell people any moment I get about the wonders of such an education.

      I was bored and was watching an anime where the kids attending a boarding school. I thought it was cool and my mom always threatened to send me to one when I acted up. Joke was on her when I found out they were the best education you could get in the states.

      Try! The worst thing is them denying you.
      And if they deny you, it will
      Motivate you to work harder and that will create the perfect Avenue for you to get into an amazingly college.
      So you’ll win either way!

    You know I am from Indonesia and ths US is like on the other side of the world but I actually want to try to go study there for high school, the problem is I just dont know if I can do it, sure I wanna try but I still have doubts whether it'd be on financials or leaving my family for 5 months at a time or academics, and right now the world is in a pandemic and testing centers are limited not to mention expensive plus I have never written a proper essay, I dont know what even includes as an essay, sure I write alot, get nice grades and ranks in school but I just don't know, can you give me your opinion on what I should do because the US and Indonesia are pretty far and if I actually take test and the toefl and stuff, I will sorta waste money and I am just to self concious about spending money especially at these times, and can the school actually cover travelling cost and if so how often??

      Hi:) I live in morocco and i feel exactly the same thing, on every single point. I always think of all those amazing people who get into boarding school and think that i have 100 reasons to be rejected, without counting my parents against the idea, the fact that I never wrote an essay or that I don't know a thing about the ssat or the sat. But life goes on, if we don't try we'll never know! I'm sure you have a lot of qualities, and if you need financial aid, you still have great chances to receive aid! The most important thing is what thrives us: passion for learning. I'm applying for 11th grade, but here's my email address : tazi_yasmine@hotmail.com , if you need anything or you want us to revise the toefl together, or just talk i'm always available:D

      @@navneetkunadi5095 Hi there, I can't really dig into all my details, but I will say attempt to relax. There's no reason to be stressed out over a 'yes' or a 'no'. If you are determined and meant to do what it is you're setting out to do, no school can give that to you. SO FIRST, STOP STRESSING OUT. This place isn't the end all be all, you will have 60+ years of life left after high school haha. So, just do what YOU feel you should do... As long as you know you're putting in all you can. that's all you can do. Don't try to be what Exeter is looking for (cause that's always changing), just be you.
      Good luck!
      Btw, I probably had the worst SSAT scores they saw that year lol, it's more than points man, it's about who you are and what you want to accomplish with this world.

    But that acceptance rate though...It's kinda sad, I really really really wanna go to Exeter, I went there during the summer, and it's awesome. But, I'm pretty much guaranteed not to get in because I live on Long Island, New York, there are like 50 people applying within a 50-mile radius of me. I went to one of the admissions briefing events and they said that they take into account where you live because they want a geographically diverse class, I even asked and they said where you live can potentially decrease your chances of getting in.

    • @orievans23
      @orievans23  4 года назад +12

      Are you going to allow this fact to discourage you from putting your best foot forward? All throughout life things will be stacked in your favor sometimes and other times they'll be stacked against you -- all you can control is how you react to these situations. So try your best, because that's all you can do. A school isnt going to make or break your life -- you're only capable of that. The fact that you're here doing the research shows you're already one step ahead of 99% of students out there. Dream big and never give up. Best of luck!
