Eli you have a good talent for interviewing, because you ask a question and then just keep quiet and let the person answer at their own pace. You say this or that to let them know you are listening, but you let them keep talking.
Wilma:Thank you for your testimony! You're not only very smart and beautiful, but facially speaking, you're almost a mirror image of my Sister-in-law! I think it's cool that certain people have somebody else that looks almost exactly like them!
Ms Wilma is a mighty pretty lady. I lived around a new order Amish and had no idea how strict the Amish people are. The Amish I lived around were younger like early 20's. Y'all have opened my eyes.
We had a 60 cow dairy barn with pipeline. My husband did the field work and I did the barn work. When we had a cow who kicked we had a hip clamp to use, but I would rather have the cow tailed. That is when someone stands behind the cow and hold the tail up in the air which doesn't allow the cow to kick.
I just can’t imagine Wilma’s parents don’t let her come in the house, let alone eat together, holidays, etc ......gee they are sure missing so very much & knowing & loving her children too 😕 All for what??

@@Gorilla_cookie So you would differentiate between mortal and venial sins with excommunication / disfellowship / shunning as the Roman Church does? If the Amish or conservative Mennonites have a local "brotherly agreement" or ordnung (ordered life or discipline), as they call them, and someone--maybe even a whole family--decides that they are not going to keep their word to abide by that agreement, does the Bible have anything to say about that (keeping one's word, submission to one another, obeying those who keep watch over your souls, etc.) or does that not matter compared to other categories of sin? The Old Testament compares rebellion to the sin of witchcraft, and Peter the Apostle wrote that Christians should submit themselves to every ordinance of man _for the Lord's sake_ (contextually referring to the laws of earthly nations that are not in conflict with the law of God). It seems that many Amish, like many Protestants and Catholics, routinely ignore that last one if they don't like the particular law.

@@Gorilla_cookie The Bible describes it as both discipline and to regain / restore, doesn't it? This is because it is not just protective for the person's soul but is also intended to protect the congregation. In a time when the mix of Jewish and Gentile Christians created a lot of conflict, listen to how Titus was told to handle it in Titus 3:9-11. It wasn't a lack of love or desired restoration, but things had to be made right or the person was gone after two warnings. Divisiveness and heresy are two serious sins you didn't mention which also fill modern churches. The man you mention in Corinth was involved in some extraordinary sin (not even named among pagans), yet following excommunication he apparently truly reversed course, and there had been great sorrow over his conduct by the congregation as well, so with this being thoroughly demonstrated by the time that the Apostle wrote again, he instructed that the man be restored and comforted in 2 Cor. 2 (also because "we are not unaware of Satan's schemes" of discouragement / disheartening). Whether religion is a trap depends on whether the Messiah and the Holy Spirit of God are at the center of it and ruling, or whether humans are just making up their own beliefs and practices (Col. 2:20-23). The problem is that supposedly non-religious, independent American Christianity is of no better "value against the indulgence of the flesh." Understanding, discipline, and accountability are all essential because the Holy Spirit doesn't just work through individuals independently. I think you might be surprised at how much underlying Amish thought and practice can readily be defended from the Scriptures, but some of them have grasped little more than ethnic traditions from their background and forgotten the faith, Scriptures, Spirit, and apostolic traditions that once informed them. At that point, they become little more than the husks of what they were, living in a self-imposed religiosity as Colossians describes, and that is a lifeless stumbling block. Remember that the Apostles themselves in the Spirit set down Kingdom culture and traditions in thinking and conduct that they instructed should be held to steadfastly (Acts 15:28-29 for Gentile believers, 2 Thess. 2:15, 1 Cor. 11:1, Jude 3-4, etc.). Jesus Himself was very clear that you cannot separate Him from His bride (the Church), and there _is_ religion which God accepts as pure and undefiled (James 1:26-27). When Paul began his sermon to the Greek sages and philosophers at the Areopagus, he told them that he had observed that in all things they were very religious. That wasn't stated as condemnation, but instead he used that as a point of common ground to then explain that their devotion was in ignorance and was never going to be enough until they came to know their "Unknown God."

I married a Lutheran so had to learn Lutheranism from the ground up. When I hear you reading the comments about 'Do you know so and so?' it sounds so Lutheran. The first question everyone asks if they don't recognise your family name is 'Who is your mother/father/grandparents?' It's so important to make that connection. Btw, I understand a lot of your Pennsylvania Dutch. It sounds very German to me. And that's only what I've learnt.

As a non Amish person driving down the road or seeing an Amish horse go by ,most marvel at the horses and their size, weight and look. We all assume they are treated like royalty and better than their families. I was so saddened to learn that not all of them are. It all sounds so sick. I am so sorry for all of you. We are moving to a very remote place. It is by choice. The Amish community is a cult. They appear to be so humble and kind and forgiving. We encountered a lot of Amish near Stevens point Wisconsin. I bought these baskets that were all hand made. They were signed by some Amish guy. I donated them years ago. Wilma, thank you for sharing your experience with us. Since I have seen so many horses who have been rescued from the Amish with many scars from poor treatment. Can you comment on this?
My Grandparents were poor farm kids in the 50s and they all bathed in the same water. Dad then Mom then each kid by age. (until they got running water) Once a week on Saturday
It's kinda funny hearing her accent and the differences between hers and yours Eli. Hers reminds me of my German American Lutheran relatives from Indiana. Yours sounds like folk I hear around central Ohio. Such a short distance and you can still detect little differnces

Several of the surnames that you have mentioned sound familiar to me, but they were surnames of "English." I wonder if they were descended from people who left Amish communities.
Hey Eli, I watch all your videos I come across and though this is a year old it just came across my feed and had to say you look very healthy and in shape here, it just anpa up you charisma even more. I dunno what's her doing but whatever it is, it looks good on ya and I just wanted to give credit where credit is due. Well done.
I started followed you on Tiktok. Ur stories are funny. I don't know much about Amish. I am glad i am not Amish lol. I wouldn't mind trying Amish food.
Thank you for sharing this. When I was growing up in the 60's I was around the Amish a lot on my fishing and auction trips with my grandparents. I moved to Utah in 1971 and didn't see any Amish until I moved to Kentucky in 1995. My brother -in-law has done a lot of tractor work for the Amish community in Jeffersonville, Ky. I just wonder if any of the Amish where you live hire people to drive them, and hire farmers to do the tractor work for them? I just found that odd that they weren't allowed to own a tractor or car, but they hire other people to drive and do the farm work for them.
It's amazing how certain amish can do no wrong, but others who do the same thing at the same time get by with it. In a community in Indiana I've seen it for myself.
Eli you have a good talent for interviewing, because you ask a question and then just keep quiet and let the person answer at their own pace. You say this or that to let them know you are listening, but you let them keep talking.

That look to the side eli did during the bath conversation was like damn ky family really did suck back then 🤣
So weird I grew up in Miami co Indiana and some of the sir names you are throwing out are ones I know. It’s a small world.
Our comunity has a choice about baptism
Hey Eli, I watch all your videos I come across and though this is a year old it just came across my feed and had to say you look very healthy and in shape here, it just anpa up you charisma even more. I dunno what's her doing but whatever it is, it looks good on ya and I just wanted to give credit where credit is due. Well done.
Prideful flashlights? I’ve heard it all now! Smh.🤦🏼♀️.
I started followed you on Tiktok. Ur stories are funny. I don't know much about Amish. I am glad i am not Amish lol. I wouldn't mind trying Amish food.
Thank you so much....
I have been to Wilmas familys house here in Orange County. I really liked her mother Barbara. Would love to talk to Wilma sometime.
She has a perfect smile😊
No you got Mormons in Utah , just as bad 😂
Very entertaining. Thank you for sharing. I'm very curious about what they taught in school when yall went.
I love Wilma's blouse!
She sure has that Amish accent
It's amazing how certain amish can do no wrong, but others who do the same thing at the same time get by with it. In a community in Indiana I've seen it for myself.
