AMAZING tutorial & item!!!! I LOVE IT!!!! I've always been afraid of zippers & just passed on anything that called for them..... This is my 1st zipper item!!!!!! I am super excited to do more of these!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH for this awesome item & tutorial!!!!!! :)
For a nice finish, I would cut a length of double fold bias tape long enough to go around the entire circumference of the bag. Once the final corners are clipped, use your sewing machine to stitch the bias tape over the unfinished edge to enclose it. That will make a very nice couture touch. A light gray solid would look great on this bag. If you don't have any bias tape or don't want to go to that trouble, I'd pink the final cut around to prevent fraying and create a cute interior finished edge.
I have not made this bag (yet), but as a quilter/sewist, here's my tips: After trimming to 1/4" seam, zigzag or serge the edges. Or... When the pieces are removed for trimming, cut 1/2" away from seam instead of the recommended 1/4". If you have a serger, you can then trim/finish the edges.
Great detailed video! Thanks for sharing. What type of machine is this? I have a brother se400 with a repo hoop and I'm afraid it won't turn out well like this.
Thanks, this is an informative tutorial. One question, what is the thread you uses, it has a great sheen. Also I'm glad to see you use a single needle embroidery machine.
Great video, the only thing I would recommend is a list of materials needed, i.e. 3 pieces of fabric, upper and lower thread, stabilizer, batting, etc. I didn't cut 3 pieces of fabric and used scrap and only had enough to do 2 of the 3 pieces. I improvised but a list of materials would have helped.
Hi. I wish you could show us how to do placement stitch on machine. Especially zipper stitch... Please do a tutorial how to program machine to do zipper.
Hi Kathy, while following your instructions for this ITH zippered bag, sometimes the carriage on my Brother 770 is left somewhat over the back, so when I try to put the hoop back, it often doesn't go. I found that the carriage needs to be more centrally located over the work area, but I haven't figured out how to do that in the middle of a project. Any ideas? Thanks. Val
when you go to the positioning screen (the one when the machine runs around the outside of your design to show you exactly where it is in the hoop), you can choose any of the eight cardinal points at which your project will start and stop.
I put a monogram on a usb and put into machine and place it where i need it . i create monograms and names in embriliance essentials but probably can use letters in machine just make center letter larger than other two.
Need a little more detail on length of zipper and how far the pull should be placed outside the sewing area. That wasn't very clear. Hope there are instructions in the actual file on this. I haven't bought it yet - wanted to see how to do it first.
It should be placed about an inch outside. I tried to place the zipper with the metal end stop right at the edge, but I had a lot of trouble with the zipper banging on my foot near there. You'll have to rely on the stitch and the fabric to be the end stop instead.
I purchased this from you but no size of fabric pieces needed or zipper plrase email these to me or place here so I can know what I need to make this??
I felt the same way. No fabric sizes provided. Basically for part one you just have to fit it in the hoop. Pick which size you want (there are two provided) figure out what hoop is required, and then you have to hoop the fabric that matches that. For part 2, it stitches out the outline and then you place things on top. So you can get a general sense of how much you need just by looking. It's nice to prepare everything beforehand, but this was kind of prepared as a "cut as you go" project i guess haha.
I found you, I’m ready to get started now. Pretty bag and fabric.
Great job on video! Made two for my granddaughters!
That was a wonderful video. Thank you!
Very excited to get started on some of the bags ! Thank you Kathy !

This zipper bag is just so cute I can't wait to get my new singer embroidered machine
love this especially that you have the whole front of bag to decorate yourself and personalize for gifts
Great tutorial, I watched this before I bought to make sure I could make it.
LOVE LOVE. Thank you.
Love the video- I thought I would give a couple of tips for those watching- make sure your zipper faces up toward you.
wonderful information for this bag. congratulations on the designing.
Excellent, well thought out teaching video!
Great tutorial! I can't wait to make one for myself.
Thank you -Thank you-Thank you for a fantastic video!!
You make it look so easy! Maybe I will be brave enough...
Love this tutorial! Thank you for showing on a single needle! Now....can you please do a hooded towel tutorial on a single needle?
AJCsmom I agree with AJCsmom, thanks for using a single needle machine!
Did you have a pattern to go by on this? Brilliant sewing a zipper on too!! Great work. Notice this is 9 years old and only just seen it.

I’ve made a number of these and each are so cute. I wonder though, if I can line the bag while in the hoop? Any thoughts?

Need to post the sizes of fabric for each bag and the size of the zipper too.
I think this is the only bag pattern I have purchased that doesn’t list the size for each piece of fabric needed. Would be helpful.
I have embrilliance essentials, If I were to merge my monogram in there would I just place that file after the stippling file?
How do you download the design? Well taught class. Thank you.
I cant access your website, does it go by another name other than applique corner? Also can you purchase the pattern for the bag?

Hi: What kink of tape is that pink that you use? Thanks
she said she used embroidery perfection tape. I don't remember the manufacturer though
How do I merge the monogram? I just purchased the Baby Lock Journey and I not sure how to go about that part...
I did purchased the bag pattern from your site.

Is she still in business? Have been trying to contact for a problem I've had for a couple of weeks with no respone.

What is the name of the monogram font you are using? How do I merge a monogram? Can it be done in Embrilliance Essentials?
You can also just change files that you embroider at the stage she suggests and then switch back to the color stop you ended with.
hmmm. the inside has unfinished edges?
Unfinished seams inside bag. Prefer ITH with seams enclosed inside lining.
Nice video. I just wished this bag had a professionally finished inside: no unfinished seams showing :(
would definitely be my favorite pattern...IF the inside seams were finished or hidden. As it is, I've made one and moved on to a different one. Sorry.
your picture is not showing just the sound
you mentioned more than 3 sizes, but I find the design listed only has 2 sizes...!!~!???
Rita Decook where can I purchase designwherecan I purchase pattern.
