At the time "Strip" was at position #61 on Billboard's Top 100 chart, the previous week it had peaked at #42 {for 1 week} and it spent thirteen weeks on the Top 100... It had just a little bit more success in his native United Kingdom were it reached #41... Between 1980 and 1995 the London native had twenty three records on the UK Singles charts, ten made the Top 10 with three* reaching #1, "Stand & Deliver" for five weeks in 1981, "Prince Charming" for four weeks in 1981, and "Goody Two Shoes" for two weeks in 1982... His first twelve charted records were under the name, 'Adam and the Ants'... Adam Ant, born Stuart Leslie Goddard, will celebrate his 65th birthday this coming November 3rd, 2019... * He just missed having two more #1 records when his "Antmusic" {1981} and "Kings of the Wild Frontier" {1981} both peaked at #2...

MTV early 80's, Adam Ant, Madonna, The Police, Cyndi Pauper, Twisted Sister, Whitney Houston, Wham, Rocko, Michael Jacksin and the list goes on. There wasn't very many African American artist being shown during that time. I was a very young African America little girl back then and I LIVED FOR MTV. Back then that was the music they played and I still love a lot of those groups to this day!!

Legend of UK Pop Music🇬🇧🎤👍🌇
On this day in 1984 {March 31st} a video of Adam Ant's "Strip" was aired on the ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'...
Man what a great era for music and pop culture. New Romantic/New Wave was rad.
Great song
Adam Ant was so gorgeous and I had such a big crush on him as a kid growing up in the 80’s. I loved his music and looking at him made me love him even more❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
♥️Same here!♥️
I was mad about him when I was 12-14 - I still own the albums since back then and I still LOVE Adam Ant (Stuart Goddard) ❤ Antpeople are the warriors - Ant music is our banner
I just love everything about Adam Ants delivery it's just outstanding and visually stunning 💖
Watching MTV when the controller was a brown box with buttons to switch between top and bottom. Yesss great times I wish I could go back but I was blessed to have experienced it.
Yes my grandma had one of those boxes...good times...

I saw adam ant in concert, he's even BETTER looking in person. OMG he such a beautiful man & this was in early eighties when I saw him. I think Johnny Depp mimicked adam for his jack sparrow character not all but take a closer look next time Pirates is on..

A glorious video from the best decade.
Adam Ant was Capt Jack Sparrow years before Johnny Depp
Jason Young Adam needs to be in them movies with Depp
Exactly! I bet Depp was a big Adam Ant fan back in the day.
