“CROWN COURT” THEME (1973)

The music theme to the TV series “Crown Court”, which was usually played at the end of each program. It’s title as composed is, “Distant Hills”, being the B-side of the 1973 UK number 1 hit by the Simon Park Orchestra, “Eye Level”, which was the theme tune to the Amsterdam-based detective series “Van der Valk”. “Crown Court” is a British television courtroom drama series. It ran from 1972 to 1984. There is currently talk of reviving the series on UK TV.

Yes, I think many people heard the theme via the 'B side', rather than through watching the TV prorgamme, since they were out of the house hard at work or merry making ... including me!

I remember being pleasantly surprised by the quality of this B side tune, although at the time the Crown Court association would have been lost on me as it was shown on morning telly I seem to recall...

Well, that is understandable since the record quoted the original composition name of "Distant Hills" (I don't think there was any reference to the "Crown Court" series). They used to play it at the end of each programme, which aired in the early afternoon weekday slot - when most people were all busy working ... Many are on YT now.
