For me, Onomichi will forever be remembered as the place we set out on our Shimanami Kaido cycle. But cycle or not, it's a beautiful town - though I've never plucked up the physical courage to climb that hill overlooking the town 😅
There's a ropeway that can take you to the top, above the cat alley. From there it's a lot easier to walk down for those with movement issues. We met Sonoyama-san too. Such a nice man!
I immediately knew this would be Onomichi when I saw the thumbnail. I absolutely LOVE Onomichi. 7 years ago I watched the original Journey Across Japan shimanami kaido episode with you and Chris and vowed to one day do it myself. In 2022 I did and got to explore Onomichi for a day as well and it's such a cozy little town. Love the hillside temples, the views, the ramen... Went back last November with two friend to do the cycle again and both of my friends loved Onomichi as well. Hiroshima prefecture is incredible and one of my favourites in Japan.
Cat Alley looks so quiet and cute. I love the old man caring for the cats! :D I wish I could travel but probably won't ever be able to so I appreciate this video. It's cool to experience everything vicariously. :)
This was such a nice town to visit and cat alley was a highlight. A day trip from Hiroshima that is totally worth doing. Thanks for the awesome memories!
Love when I see a new Sharla video pop up! Also love seeing Ushka in videos with you! Got a chance to meet her while staying at nekoneko inn and shes just as kind in person as she seems in the vlogs.
Just back from a three week trip to Japan. Stayed in Tokyo with my son (JET) but also travelled to Hiroshima. We ate in that amazing okonomiyaki building. Four wonderful ladies cooked our food and made us so welcome. Love your video; will put cat alley on the list for future visits. Listen to all those birds in the background! Thanks Sharla and Ushka. ❤
Holy crap. Hiroshima is so nostalgic now😂. I miss traveling with you! Something needs to happen soon 👀 Also wtf is that amazing looking sushi breakfast? Hnngghhh!!!
Good to see you looking so well Sharla. I had the thyroid thing too so occasional updates in that regard are welcome. I like to hear how other countries deal with the related issues. Your Brazil nut mention earlier was a help. My dr was not helpful, I’m in Ontario. Happy new year!❤
I’m adding Cat Alley to the itinerary for the next trip! We loved Hiroshima and can’t wait to spend more time there and surrounding areas. I tried both types of okonomiyaki (I even got a key chain 😂), but I prefer the Hiroshima version!! 😻😻😻
Oh, I've been here! Did the hike to the observeration platform at the top and did see loads of cats. Never realised it was actually named Cat Alley! Onomichi is definitely worth a day or 2, even if you don't do the Shimanami Kaido!
Just came to see if you had uploaded as I hadn't seen one in a while to find you have just uploaded this lovely video with the wonderful Uskha! Love seeing videos of the two of you on adventures around Japan!
1:57... that black and white cat is just like mine... same triangle on the head and almost same meow, tiny bit deeper but almost identical... so cute!!
Been to Okonomimura in 2011 when we did a classical trip (Tokyo-Kamakura-Okayama-Hiroshima-Miyajima-Nara-Kyoto) as our honeymoon-journey. It was such an experience and soooo delicious! ^^
I wish I had a stamp book already when I did most of my travelling in Japan (during my exchange year). I really like the Fukuoka stamp so I might have to revisit just to get the stamp 😂. I can use the Neko Neko post stamp book for my future trips !
This was such a cute and fun video. If i were to ever visit, I'd do nothing but pet the cats all day. My cat "Mama", passed away earlier this week so seeing the little cuties was a treat to see.
What a fun (and tasty) trip! I really loved cat alley and the okonomiyaki made me hungry; I've always said that okonomiyaki will be my first meal when I get to Japan. I've had it at a restaurant in town and it set me back $25! 😂
@ 😂yea yeaaaa you even followed me on twitter for trying Nattō beans which I still regret till this day haha anyways been with with you on your journey since congratulations on all your achievements!
These videos remind me that I have a lot of Japan left to explore. Also, are creamsicles not a thing outside of Canada?! If not, I must have never paid attention.
You should read 'Four Seasons in Japan' by Nick Bradley - i just realised this is exactly the same cat alley that is mentioned in it ❤ it's such a lovely book, partly set in Onomichi
I am so obsessed with your videos! I vicariously live through you going on your beautiful adventures! Is there any way to get a stamp book and have someone get the stamps for me? It would mean the world to me!!!!! Keep up with the AMAZING videos! Love from a little town in Montana 💕
Seeing this notification gave me motivation to get out of bed and watch (so I don’t wake my husband; haha!). I’ve LOVED creamsicles, ever since I was a kid (one of my first favourite flavours of ice cream was orange sherbet from Laura Secord at my local mall in Ontario. Always been more partial to popsicles, though, but creamsicles are the best of both worlds!😊) I’m partial to Osaka style Okonomiyaki myself, though I’ve only ever had it homemade by me.😅 It’s just looks like I would never be able to finish the Hiroshima one by myself, and my husband can’t eat gluten, so… yeah… I’d be alone on that one. Looks good, though! :P EDIT: Eeehhhhh!? There’s a takoyaki museum somewhere, too!? Gonna have to add that to my itinerary like the ramen museum! Lol
@ Oh, btw, did you ever ask your hair stylist about those products and how they would work on really textured curly/kinky hair? I know you’re SUPER busy so probably haven’t had a chance/forgot. No worries if so. Just thought I’d ask.🤗
Yes I play the Yakuza series, Ono Michio! BTW don't go diving in the bay it's filled with sharks and giant squids while also hiding one of japans biggest military secrets!
Is it considered rude to not finish a meal and to take the rest home? I know I could never have eaten all of it. Love Cat Alley so much fun. I am so happy that you started doing more videos. I missed you. Hugs and blessings.
Where did Ushka (I'm sorry if I didn't spell it correctly 🥺) get her cat phone cover 😮 I love it. Also, Ushka wanted Crepes that night you went for ramen 🫢 lol I love your videos, it makes me want to move to Japan more than I already do. Thank you

Totally worth the hike 🎉🎉
Just read this in your voice😂

1- the cats are adorable. 2- Ushka is adorable. 😆 Every time she’s smiling at the camera in the background it just makes me smile. 🤗
Anything related to cats in Japan always remind me of that documentary Chris made lol
He needs to do a follow up now that he doesn’t hate cats😂
@@sharlainjapan @AbroadinJapan cats bring clicks.😘😄
I see cats, I see sharla, I click!
🫶🏻🐈❤️
Being with your friend who loves cats eating ice cream near the cat Alley in Japan, what a dream ❤
The ultimate holiday 💕

Ahh love that! So glad you all got to explore Hiroshima, such a lovely area🥰✨
Cat Alley looks so quiet and cute. I love the old man caring for the cats! :D
I wish I could travel but probably won't ever be able to so I appreciate this video. It's cool to experience everything vicariously. :)
Yeah same i wont be able to travel here but least i can travel through her videos
For me too, it's so far from where i live, but my life's dream is to go to Japan!😢😢❤❤
At 0:11 that's just a perfect meow! Like surely that cat was a voice actor in a previous life, perfection! Okay, now to watch the rest of the video!
Fukuoka and Hiroshima are two of my favourite prefectures in Japan. They're so underrated.
Criminally underrated!!! So much to do in both of them 🫶🏻❤️
This was such a nice town to visit and cat alley was a highlight. A day trip from Hiroshima that is totally worth doing. Thanks for the awesome memories!
So glad you enjoyed it! 💖

She’s the best!!!!!
I love when Sharla uploads
I'm so hungry now. 😭 My search for Okonomiyaki in north Texas begins!
It’s super easy to make! Here’s a recipe: ruclips.net/video/t0yUWT_VF1Q/видео.htmlsi=bwWZq4ho5SUxIg-A

Love how beautifully shot and chill your vids are, Sharla. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Thank you so much! 💕
Sharla mentioned Yakuza! 🎉 Huge fan of the series. Onomichi is in Yakuza 6 and its such a great location in the game. Looks even better irl 😂
Ahhhh I feel spoilt, we get the two best ladies AND cats!!! 😻

It was nice to hang with you guys.. thanks for the fun adventure xoxo

That alley would be so fun to walk through cause I love cats!! The cats there look so adorable!!
Thank you for recommending the hotels, was awesome to get a different view of different accommodations.

Cats and Japanese bakeries and ramen! ~ 3 of my favourite things! 💜😻🥐🥯🍩🍡🍜

These kind of videos are amazing. You show more Japan than anyone. I love Tokyo but want to know about more city in Japan as well as countrysides

I never anticipated yelling "pet the cat" while watching one of your videos. Please tell me the friendly cat on the stairs was pet a bunch.
He got lots of pets and snacks, but we had to cut that part cuz they didn’t want to encourage lots of people to come feed them snacks😅
The hotel buffets looked so good!!
They’re so impressive!!!! I love how they’re all very different and use the local ingredients :)
Chris needs to do a video on the Dogs of Japan since we get all of the cat information from your channel!
Great video mate! Really enjoyed it 😊
This makes me miss Fukuoka again. I used to live in Yamaguchi prefecture and would visit both Fukuoka and Hiroshima often.

Next time!
Hope you get a chance to visit again!! 🥰

The ink on those stamps ... such a crisp transfer 💆

Definitely adding this to my itinerary 😻😻
Gotta show my brother this video, another idea for our upcoming trip.
Love your nails sharla nice to see you back on ❤❤
Lovely to see you both. Those breakfasts looked amazing. 😮❤ xx
That's probably the cutest alley ever!!
It’s so charming 🥰✨
Finally going to Japan this year after getting influenced by your pizza video many many years ago lol! Thanks for bringing us along on this video!
Haha not the pizza video 😂
@ 😂yea yeaaaa you even followed me on twitter for trying Nattō beans which I still regret till this day haha anyways been with with you on your journey since congratulations on all your achievements!
Funny, I just learned about orange creamsicles for the first time yesterday! They do sound good 😊. Cat alley looks lovely!
You need to find one! Best ice cream! 😍🍊🍦
@@sharlainjapanHell yes! It’s like orange sherbet on a stick!
Loved this vlog 😄
Thank you!! 😁
17:37 here in USA we pay $15 for one bowl 🍜!
Yeah I couldn’t believe how affordable it was! 😍
Visited Onomichi last year. Would definitely recommend.
14:36 That's one hell of a cute umbrella stand! 😸
(Assuming that's what it is, what else could it be?)
Sometimes you learn things like creamsicles don't exist everywhere and your whole childhood worldview is rocked.
Ikr?!!! Shocked.
I'm debating coming to Japan soon for an Atarashi Naginata seminar in July, and travelling for a while afterwards. I would love to visit here!
Oh my god!!! Yess
Thank you! Now I want a creamsicle!

I bet Chris would have loved those Pringles. Only if they're well refrigerated, of course.
I feel like I’m missing an inside joke here😂
The cabbage, other vegetables and egg dish cooked on griddle looked delicious.
I was going to ask if you ate it all?
Very generous portions.
We did, barely😂
Is this what heaven is like? Being surrounded by cats? Because yes please
a view from the toilet? sold

What did Maro and Tuna think of your betrayal? 🥲

Amazing what they do with that egg. I wonder if you can do that in an ordinary frying pan
Impressive isn’t it! I don’t see why it couldn’t work in a fry pan! 🍳
10:18 the struggle the loss lmao
広島にようこそ。
Please explain what is all in in the food yall had ❤❤
My second home 😭. Okonomimura is great, but often seen as a tourist attraction. There are better places I've forgotten 😢
I love you mom
Is it considered rude to not finish a meal and to take the rest home? I know I could never have eaten all of it. Love Cat Alley so much fun. I am so happy that you started doing more videos. I missed you. Hugs and blessings.
Nope you could try to bring it home! Lots of places let you now after Covid made take-out food more popular in Japan.
I see cats, i sneeze. Then I see Sharla and ushka. 😅
Sense when did yall score a nice room like that??
Where did Ushka (I'm sorry if I didn't spell it correctly 🥺) get her cat phone cover 😮 I love it.

I love your videos, it makes me want to move to Japan more than I already do. Thank you
I'll have to ask her where she got it and let you know! 🫶🏻🐈
She says it’s just from Amazon!
Where did you go for the Hiroshima style okonomiyaki? We went to a similar place in Hiroshima but I don’t think it was this exact one x
Roku was the name of the restaurant!
@ Thankyou ❤️ really enjoyed the video x
