    Welcome to Passo del Brocon! Narrow road, lots of bumps, and even some play mates appearing this time! Sounds just right for my Little Honda!!

    my windshield: amzn.to/2k3q3Yu
    Does the windshield work/help?
    It does. Takes a lot of wind pressure from your upper body. But in my case it throws most of the wind to the top part of my helmet. Which means there is less pressure but more wind noise while riding. I mainly use the shield to keep insects away from my GoPro anyway. It also works quite well for that.

    Totaly agree with you. Cant understand the road blockers. Personaly i dont like if someone is behind me so i let them overtake.

    • @Schaaf
      @Schaaf  7 лет назад +32

      that's the thing. I immediately feel "under pressure" when it happens. It's also why I immediately make way

    • @bajo76

      I feel the same as you do, but since I don't ride even close to that, I'm mostly letting other people overtake me. What I find impressive, is that you manage to cool down rather quickly afterwards. Nice video, as always.

    • @Kwakboy
      @Kwakboy 7 лет назад +2

      Yups, I feel the same way.
      Although I must admit not to be tempted to return the favor breathing in their necks for some hot corners too. ;)
      Not always a safe thing to do, I know...
      But just to check how good (they think) they really are and before I can behave myself again.

    • @Boa74

      Same here. When one is faster (and if he appears in the mirrors it's obvious that has a faster pace) I let him go. And maybe I can be a little faster following a rider better than me

    Bravo Schaaf - great ride as ever. Not polite not letting you through, but your honest words are truly refreshing - that's what distinguishes a great biker from a good one in my eyes. Keep your honesty and keep us entertained with your twisties, and remain an example for all of us who are not grown up enough to admit our mistakes :)

    Schaaf, while this reply is 4 years after the video was made, I think it is important to say this. Keep the content that you felt you could have cut out. Your bad behavior is a wonderful, teachable moment for anyone watching. It is one thing to be told not to do something. But seeing wrong and then being told; "Don't do this", has a far greater impact for teaching and understanding. There are far to many videos out there that show the wrong things, but do not admit it was wrong. Any new rider seeing said wrong things could and would get the wrong impression and think such actions are ok. You, did wrong, then admitted you did wrong and explained why. That has so much power when teaching new, up and coming and experienced riders. One does not know what is wrong until they see and are told it was wrong. Thank you sir.

    • @Schaaf
      @Schaaf  2 года назад

      Thanks a lot mate. I agree with you. But fortunately my riding these days became so reasonable that I'm not even presented with the question of showing or not showing something. If I film it there'll be a video ;)

    Again Schaaf shows you don't need the latest supersports to have alot of fun.
    Just some common sense the right road and weather.
    It's refreshing to see a machine being ridden towards it's max capabilities rather than a guy on a super sports/naked using a third of its performance.
    Okay you got impatient and once passed those guys continued for a short while at a fair old speed. But I wouldn't lose much sleep Schaaf, the danger levels were not crazy high. You all got home unharmed.
    As regards why didnt they back off and let you pass? They probably felt they were riding at a good pace and if you wanted to pass you would of. Remember although it's polite to let you by, they don't have to. At the end of the day if there's a slow rider in front just pass, but if you can't check yourself for the reasons why not rather than them. Cheers

    good riding, and we all get it. at the track we call it "the red mist". when that ego gets the better of you making you do things you typically dont in order to get around someone. its a hard thing to tame but it seems like you already have an understanding of it. keep up the awesome videos. always enjoy watching

    Man, that moment when you overtook all 4. I love it. And I agree to the fact which even I observe, it is always good to let a faster one arriving go ahead. And I can imagine that frustration of someone in the front not going fast or not letting us pass. At some point they must see our treatment ;) . Hail the CB500.

    Shaaf I wouldn't worry about leaving your mistakes in, its definitely a good thing! I might not have even realized that i'm blocking a biker, although I'm usually pretty polite and let faster vehicles pass me, but I know this video will come to mind when I'm in a situation like that.
    I've actually been in a weird position where I was riding home with a friend on the back and two bikers stopped next to me at the lights and said hello, I waved them past when the light was green knowing the road ahead is super fun and I've got a passenger, one went ahead but the other didn't overtake. I took it as them egging me on a little, which I definitely took to and had a fun little chase. However the road is not the kindest one and we ended up coming off the road ( luckily I realized and just took us onto the grass instead of a tree and we didn't come off) but I think it just proves that when your on the road you don't always make the best decisions, but I certainly learned from that experience and I think sharing things like that will help others stay safe too.

    Rick and Morty reference in the thumbnail and the room reference with Marc, and that sequence of riding behind him, awsum additions on top of the usual Schaaf production values.
    I'm guessing those dudes didn't move over because of dick compensation reasons and I feel for your cornerblockedness at those points but FUCK, that sequence when you finally passed them might have been irrisponsible but it looked amazing; it would be my screensaver if I had one

    With regard to them 'cornerblocking' I could see and understand your frustration. I've been riding about 11 months myself and when I first started, I was slow and not confident. If anyone came up behind me, I'll pull over and let them pass, as I didn't want the pressure of having them behind me and affecting my cornering lines...

    I'm a recent subscriber and have just spotted this one - You were really pinning it my friend, I'm pretty sure I heard the CB500 begging for mercy at one point ! - I don't have the talent to ride like you Schaaf but I also get frustrated because I don't like having anything in front of me, just an open road.. Trouble is, here in the UK the traffic is so thick that if I want to achieve this I have to set off at 'stupid o'clock' in the morning !..

    Yeah I agree with you on the corner blockers, I think some of it is down to ego and some to simply not realising the fact that if you have arrived behind them and you weren't there when they set off... you are riding faster than they are! It happens here in the UK all the time, people on brand new litre bikes don't like letting a 17 year old 600 through!

    schön gefahren, aber was ich nicht verstehe, ist genau das gleiche wie du beschrieben hast: Warum blockiert man jemanden, der doch offensichtlich schneller unterwegs ist als man selbst?
    Permanent auf der linken Seite fahren um den anderen nicht vorbei zu lassen ist doch mal echtes Arschloch-Verhalten.
    Klingt zwar gemein, aber hier ist es definitiv angebracht, ich würde mich auch aufregen wenn man mir das Fahren verwähren wurde, was ich anstrebe.

      in Italy it definitely is a good idea to use the horn. In Austria it's usually considered rather rude hence why I'm not used to using it

    Man, this was awesome! I'm italian by the way, and i can tell you that the last one of the group (the all white one) was just an ignorant rider that didn't want you to pass him, that's it! Be patient my friend ;)

    Love your vids, just shows what a blast you can have on a smaller bike if you have the skill.(I wish I had.)
    Some noses must have been put out of joint when you binned those other guys, they where not exactly helping. Always remember, as Mr Honda once said, "to finish first, first you must finish" , so keep riding inside your limits, which I must say are quite phenomenal. Go fast but stay safe my friend.

    You are right. You were acting a fool on this video. You are also right that slower riders should give way to faster riders. I always tell myself if i experienced those kind of riders that there is always a tomorrow. No need for risks

  • @WozzasSportsCruiserRides

    The rider at the rear was blocking you. Groups everywhere like that whether there right or wrong. It wasn't long before you decided to administer justice on these slower, road blocking, big bike riders. It makes for good footage even if they were Sunday riders. The least they could have done is go faster and block you.

    Another great video. Your riding is great and I can't believe how you wring the neck of the CB500. I'm going to subscribe. As far as the passing, few get the feeling.....true riders will. It is that feeling of pushing your limits, pushing the edge. One can't really feel alive, without dancing on the limits of death. I have been there....used to be there all the time. Then I had kids and had to slow down. But that feeling.....it is better than anything else sometimes. Ride on, ride safe.

    My god that road looks amazing! We have nothing like that here in Houston. The closest "Twisty" road is about an hour away from where i'm at, and is only like 2 miles long and about 15 turns lol Nothing but straight lines here, which can be fun with my zx10r and some friends, but nowhere near as fun as a good twisty road. Amazing riding, love the videos

    First of all nice riding and it takes some balls - to admit a mistake for riding on the limit.
    Nice description and i totally agree with you. If someone is faster or even not and he is behind I try to let him overtake me. But the remark from Matzen Toni is also true. They wanted to show that they rule their home road. Happend a couple of time to me in Austria when some guys see my slovenian number plate. Of course they don't know that i ride these roads now for more than 10 years very often and I know them really good.

    Hats off to you chap. I would have been frustrated too! Of course I probably wouldn't be quite as quick as you in the first place! I blame big bones. But solid for leaving the bit's you'Re not proud of in there. I'm trying to do the same and present an honest account of this thing we do! In my opinion, I didn't see the rear guy turn his head once. I think he was mostly unaware, or simply ignoring you. If I'd had you behind me like that, my spidey senses would have been going CRAZY! ALWAYS let the faster guys in front. When they're out ahead, they can hurt themselves, but not you! Let everybody have his own ride I say!

    as to your comment on 11:10 they are riding with track mentality, ie, whatever is behind you doesn't matter-- your responsibility to pass them if you can. At least, that's how I interpret it. Maybe it's their ego too, but if they try to accommodate someone behind them, maybe they will get distracted from what's in front.

    • @Schaaf
      @Schaaf  6 лет назад

      I'm always 100% focused on what's in front of me when I ride spirited. But still I would immediately spot someone approaching from behind in my mirrors in the corner of my eyes :)

    Good video with nice road and cool riding.. Well done for not cutting that scene. If the guy in front new you were there then he should have made way for you as most bikers i know would. Just because he had more power for the straights doesn't matter, he should have made way. I like your honesty. As Always Ride And Speed Safe.

      Der Frust war schon groß denke ich, du bist auch etwas schneller als normal Blind reingefahren, was du sonst nicht so machst. Eigentlich darf man sich da nicht so reinsteigern, dass macht sonst die Laune und den Spaß kaputt am fahren. Aber es ist halt echt schwer sich zu beherrschen. Bist eben auch nur ein Mensch, schätze deine Ehrlichkeit, dass du es wenigstens zugibst.

    Ein absoluter Adrenalinkick! Ich fahre da nicht so ganz dieses Tempo :-), bin aber auch heftigst genervt, wenn man in Kurven von Geradeausgasaufreißern gebremst wird. Ich bin auf der Suche nach Pässen in den Dolomiten/Trentino, die nicht alle Touristen fahren, wo aber die Straße auch nicht nur 1m breit ist. Den Brocon nehme ich auf jeden Fall mit.
