Love to see how far you have come as a film maker over the years Ronny. These older ones are still good but you can still notice the difference to the new stuff you put out.
Epic video again boys, i tackled the holland in my old 13 cruiser ute in winter of 2014 and its was over bonnet mud/water most of the first section from hyden in and i lost alternator also. I removed it and rebuilt it on the first night.. Worked a treat
Awesome video once again, those aerial shots are spectacular. Did both these tracks earlier in the year with a few mates over 3 days, we had an absolute blast (Lucky for us we had no dramas with our rigs whatsoever). Seeing cave hill was definitely the highlight for me - amazing views from up there
I really enjoyed seeing the old hilux. My truck is pretty similar (just older, and a 4runner) so it was fun to see what a similar drivetrain and suspension set up could accomplish.
another great adventure, put that on my list to do. Great photography, love the time lapse & drone work. Keep & coming. Can I join you on a trip? Ha ha.
I can really tell the improvements in the drone photography and of the overall positioning and angles of the production. The movement and shots now show a great deal of diversity and made the videos that much better. Wish i could join you guys from the usa but anyway awesome improvements and keep up the great work.
Great work Ronny. Love your drone and time lapse footage. I've done the Holland track twice with mates on a dirt bike with 4x4 support vehicles. They were both epic adventures and your video brought back many wonderful memories. Thanks.
Another great adventure in the outback. I appreciate the time and effort you take in capturing and editing these videos. Im a landscape photographer myself so I understand, and you do a great job. Wish I could bring my Toyota Tacoma over from Oregon USA and ride the trails with you guys. Cheers.
great videos , one suggestion is to add a map pic in the video from time to time to show where u are , where you have come from and where is next . keep up the good work
Great video footage and quality. Really impressed. The time lapse camp footage with cloud movement was quite spectacular. I'll be checking out some more vids.
Great fuel economy on that Jeep :) Would love a video of your camera set up and how you go about storing all your memory cards and fragile equipment. Great work. The quality of your content is better than most paid outdoor productions.
I did this run 4 weeks ago and recommend it to everyone, although it would be a very different track after a bit of heavy rain. Also saw you guys parked up at the pub on my way back from Brunswick on Sat, good looking rigs
unreal videos ronny you really capture the right moments good on you mate , ive got the bug and cant wait to get out and see our great country more often , that alternator catching mud is a worry
So it seems this epic trip of yours has inspired me to carry a spare alternator and starter motor in my 89' Hilux, since I have the Ecotec in it I should not encounter as much of an issue with flooding the alternator, but for $100 bucks a spare one is easily a good investment and being an auto I definitely need the spare starter.
+Nathan Barford The alternator and starter will die sooner or later. They usually die while driving, so if you don't carry a spare one, it's guaranteed that you will get stuck and will need to call for help, sooner or later.
I love watching your videos. I live on the East Coast of the US so your terrain is greatly different from ours. If you ever make it to the States and visit the Smokey Mtns look me up...
I love your trip videos. It would be great if you could set up cheap older rigs and review them then take them out on trips like how top gear used to a long time ago. but keep your videos coming!
Andrew Thompson thanks mate, don't forget to check out or website as well which has even more how to and tips on 4x4ing: www.4-wheeling-in-western-australia.com/
thanks, already checked it out. went up to julimar on the weekend following the waypoints on the site. ended up sinking my hilux in to a bog hole haha. i can see why yall swap out carpet for vinyl now.. cheers
Great Vid, I would , did, take the chicken tracks, I look for the line of lest resistance. Next late August I plan on taking MP4 of the Carson River Track, I hope to make a small vid of this adventure, it may take a while, Stuart
Hey that last spot your at at the end of video i have camped there. Top spot the breakaways on the road norseman to hyden. Another top video and a track i want to do. Well done Ronny
We did this after a 70mm rainfall, it was a hell of a lot more muddy than that... P.s One of our 200 series cruisers also had a dodgy alternator from the mud.
Ronny, A little trick with Chrysler/Mppar starters is you can knock on them with a hammer lightly and the solenoid might kick out and start the vehicle. Done it many times at the drag strip.
You could compression start older automatics... (like a manual). Simply get the car rolling in neutral with the key in the on position, then drop it into drive. Though I suppose newer trucks may not be able to do this... glad the towing worked!
Hi Guys I have had a sealed water cooled alternator fitted to my 70 series troopy so won't be suffering the same alternator problems you had on the Holland Track". It was $2400 but well worth it in my view!!!
+Michael FitzGerald Since the Holland track I put a water cooled one in as well and so far so good. Worth the money too as it makes the 70 series 100% reliable for the most part.
+Ronny Dahl (4 Wheeling in W.A.) Hi Ronny, where did you find one of those alternators? I'm interested in putting one on the Lux but I can't find any source for them.
+Jack Hayes .Hi Jack, to my knowledge SS autos in Wangara supply and fit those alternators as well as they stock and fit pillar pods and gauges for all models
Another cracking video mate!!! As always the alternator lets the mighty 70 series down, such a shame Toyota were to lazy to design it better. Looking forward to the next video.
Great video! Those vehicle issues would have put you guys in pretty serious circumstances if you weren't able to rely on each other Very cool to watch for someone like me with limited mechanical knowledge
Love your videos Ronny! I'm very jealous we don't have the opportunities for trips like this here in Ireland... but at least we have lots of Defenders here so I guess that makes it even! :D
I'm going to Shark Bay and surrounds for Xmas, and said to the better half I need to do the Holland Track when we gat back. It has to be on WA's most iconic Tracks. This has done nothing but inspire me to head out that way. Great editing, and especially love the Drone Footage (what is it ??) I will take my AEE AP10 along and do something similar. Would be good if you posted your track in .GPX/KML as it would be a great guide for others. Just a thought as I know some people are interested in that stuff. I just notice the HEMA is all. Keep up the great 4x4 videos mate.
Hi Ronny, i know this was a while ago but i do believe that with some automatics if you put them in drive and leave ignition on when you get to around 40km/h rotation from drive line via sprag clutches in the auto/box, will spin fluid through torque converter and turn engine....not sure if this works for all autos but the old borgWarners used to work and the Zf6hp's. Maybe something to enquire into with your mechanic? Save towing if it ever happens again....maybe...👍
good to finally see a landrover
Yup so much for the TLC's
I am from India . I own a Renault I love this channel . truly inspiring. u guys rock
I tell ya, that drone thingy makes an awesome supplement to the rest of the footage, Really enjoyable to watch.
Beautiful presentation and the aerial photography just makes this a great show for all to see!!
Love to see how far you have come as a film maker over the years Ronny. These older ones are still good but you can still notice the difference to the new stuff you put out.
As an American I am extremely jealous of the the Toyotas Yall have down there. Especially the 79 series Land Cruisers with factory diesels. Good vid.
The video would not be completed without another jeep fails. LOL.
Inspirational stuff. Showcases the places you can go with the right vehicle setup. Truly enjoyable videos!
Cheers mate, thanks for watching
wow 7:35 seconds I had to go back and watch it over 3 times. What a view unreal!!!.
Did the Hollands track and loved it. Amazing country
great footage on this ep - the drone convoy shots along with the long exposure camp scenes were fantastic. Really polished
Another fantastic clip. I must say, the shot from the drone, is just amazing, such such stunning landscape...
Great Clip Ronny !!!
Great motivation to get my rigs up and going when I break them.
Epic video again boys, i tackled the holland in my old 13 cruiser ute in winter of 2014 and its was over bonnet mud/water most of the first section from hyden in and i lost alternator also. I removed it and rebuilt it on the first night.. Worked a treat
Thanks Mitchell Perks have you had issues with your alternator since then?
Slowly building my Tacoma into an overland rig like yours! Your landscape in Australia is insane, as are your video/photography skills!
Ya gotta love the outback. Australia is the best.
Love all your videos. Keep them coming.
Awesome video once again, those aerial shots are spectacular. Did both these tracks earlier in the year with a few mates over 3 days, we had an absolute blast (Lucky for us we had no dramas with our rigs whatsoever). Seeing cave hill was definitely the highlight for me - amazing views from up there
Great Video. I've done this track a couple of times and love the country out there.. Keep 'em coming!
been doing this a long time. still learn from your videos. thanks for taking the time to make them--love the UAV aerial views !!
g'day from America!
Great track, great people, great vehicles, and great cinematography. Good stuff, Ronny. Would love to join a trip someday when I come to Australia.

Holland track is one of the best tracks around
thanks for another great adventure Ronny.
Slow Boat no worries mate
I really enjoyed seeing the old hilux. My truck is pretty similar (just older, and a 4runner) so it was fun to see what a similar drivetrain and suspension set up could accomplish.
Love the new truck intro
another great adventure, put that on my list to do. Great photography, love the time lapse & drone work. Keep & coming. Can I join you on a trip? Ha ha.
great work guys, proper envious of you while I'm here in uk
+Jpr esquire Same, land cruisers cost an arm and a leg over here and it seems there is no where to explore
I can really tell the improvements in the drone photography and of the overall positioning and angles of the production. The movement and shots now show a great deal of diversity and made the videos that much better. Wish i could join you guys from the usa but anyway awesome improvements and keep up the great work.
looks like a great trip and is absolutely on my list of WA tracks for 2019
I furrally enjoyed this video
Great vid as always. Always enjoy watching your adventures.
Dirk Westerhout thanks
Enjoyed the ride, thanks
Great work Ronny. Love your drone and time lapse footage. I've done the Holland track twice with mates on a dirt bike with 4x4 support vehicles. They were both epic adventures and your video brought back many wonderful memories. Thanks.
no worries Peter Lee thanks for the feedback.
Great adventure Ronny keep up the great work! Loved the drone footage, unreal.
Gotta love the jeeps alternator design for that reason.
Another great adventure in the outback. I appreciate the time and effort you take in capturing and editing these videos. Im a landscape photographer myself so I understand, and you do a great job. Wish I could bring my Toyota Tacoma over from Oregon USA and ride the trails with you guys. Cheers.
Thanks Andrew Kumler it means a lot to hear that from a fellow photographer. A lot of effort for sure but its not too bad when you love what you do :)
about time U Guys all got Water/mud proof Alternators
great videos , one suggestion is to add a map pic in the video from time to time to show where u are , where you have come from and where is next . keep up the good work
Really great video a lot cool history out there.
Jason
Great video footage and quality. Really impressed. The time lapse camp footage with cloud movement was quite spectacular. I'll be checking out some more vids.

i love offroad adventure really enjoyed your videos !
Great fuel economy on that Jeep :) Would love a video of your camera set up and how you go about storing all your memory cards and fragile equipment. Great work. The quality of your content is better than most paid outdoor productions.
I love my old bj 40, no alternator,no problem, just don't turn it off!
whitewarmaker and a lot easier to fix on the track...
The best filming!
I did this run 4 weeks ago and recommend it to everyone, although it would be a very different track after a bit of heavy rain.
Also saw you guys parked up at the pub on my way back from Brunswick on Sat, good looking rigs
Thanks mate, yeah we were at brunswick Friday and then stopped at the pub for a counter meal on the way back from Wellington NP Saturday.
unreal videos ronny you really capture the right moments good on you mate , ive got the bug and cant wait to get out and see our great country more often , that alternator catching mud is a worry

Brett Kuhnold yeah those breakaways are awesome, keen to go there and camp.

Ronny, A little trick with Chrysler/Mppar starters is you can knock on them with a hammer lightly and the solenoid might kick out and start the vehicle. Done it many times at the drag strip.

Thank you very much for this information! If I need an alternator again (just fitted my 4th one) I'll go and see them.
I have a spare one in the shed when you kill your next one ... ;-)
The more watch your trips the more I see the Jeep performing better than the others in regards to its equipment !
And just when I comment... The Jeep gets towed XD
great drone work
Great video's.
P.S. You can bump start an auto after you get to about 30 MPH. Pull in neutral & at 30, drop it in drive.
Good video.Thanks.
very very nice video. congratz, man!
Great Video Ronny
i wanna go with you once on a trip, beautifull places nice offroad rigs.
Another cracking video mate!!! As always the alternator lets the mighty 70 series down, such a shame Toyota were to lazy to design it better. Looking forward to the next video.
BrettB cheers mate and yep the two problems off-road with these rigs: Alternators and the dragging of the rear leaf pack.
Good stuff and good camera work
nice trip my friend, very very nice
so you're allowed to have some freedom in Australia that's pretty cool
Yes some...
Love your answer, Some :-)
Great video!
Those vehicle issues would have put you guys in pretty serious circumstances if you weren't able to rely on each other
Very cool to watch for someone like me with limited mechanical knowledge

another great Video guys, the fuel economy on the jeep would have been excellent.

Great video.
Love how you say only go through mud if you have too.... then do it anyway noting was a way around....
