Yes, I would love that! I'm also a bit sad because I wanted to ask you that if you had a chance, what kind of end would've you write for Dean? I know, he is generally a disliked character, and I understand why, I even agree with it... but I think he deserved more than just driveing of, never to be mentioned again. Even a passing line about him moving back to Chicago would have worked, but we got nothing. Sure, later in the new series we got to know that his second marriage with Jenny is great, he has a bunch of kids, and seems to be a laid of, successful guy, and I love that for him. But still, I would like to know your ideal ending for him.
Also, if you do a PLL one I would like to ask, who is your favourite character and ship, and why? And who would have been your ideal A? :) Thank you❤

This show has a special place in my heart, not just because I watched the whole thing as a child/preteen, but also because of my aunt’s experience. She currently has Alzheimer’s and sometimes can’t remember the difference between a spoon and a napkin, but if someone puts on this show in front of her she’ll smile and laugh and even recognize the characters. So as problematic as this show could be at times, I think at the end of the day it did make a positive impact and gave a lot of people joy, and I’ll always appreciate it for that.

I remember a few episodes when the show aired when I was about 13. Even then, a lot of references were older. I think the writers were in their 30’s & 40’s and it showed in a lot of the pop culture references.
I'm the same age as Rory. In 2002, I told my Grandma I wanted to find a Dean.

0:22 I would include Paris in the list of people that had a good influence on Rory, the both were very ambitious, but Paris got much more, maybe not confidence, but bite. Especially in the early seasons, Rory was pretty shy and I think Paris really got her out of her comfort zone
7:34 Lol, I first watched the show kind of out of order whenever I would just catch reruns (more often then not in the middle of the night, so I probably was to tiered to pay close attention) and I legit thought Lanes dad was dead
9:39 I think she would have a talent for project management, everybody liked her as a editor for the Yale Daily News and she manged to save an entire party in just on week (which was also probably the happiest she was in quite a while)
10:44 I said it before I'm team Zack (even if I'm the only on in that team) yes Dave dose a lot and is more or less perfect, but that's kind of my problem. Everything he did, he did seemingly effortless and barely ever complaining, for Zack it just seemed more like he was actually putting work into dealing with her family and overall making the relationship function (also they just like their awkward chemistry)
20:03 I actually think Madelin and Louise are underrated, I mean they aren't my favorite characters or anything, but like when I first saw them I just thought they would be your classic mean girls, but they are actually not mean at all and probably one of Paris' best and truest friends. Besides a bit of friendly banter they never say a mean word about her and totally support and accept her and all her eccentricities. That's just not something you would expect that you would expect from a character like that, especially in a show from the early 2000s

I was a young teenager when GG started and even then, I didn't get all their pop culture references because a lot of them were from a decade or two before when Lorelai would have been growing up lol.

Exactly. It was the only show my mom and I ever watched together and she would tell me what the references meant, lol.
I didn't like a lot about the revival but the Wild scene with Lorelai made it worth watching. I had a very complicated relationship with my dad and he passed away shortly before the revival came out. The portions of the show that were about grief hit me SO hard. Gilmore Girls is a show that will always be my comfort watch. I don't love all the choices that the writers made but what they're able to show in so many small ways is how simultaneously beautiful, heartbreaking, and complicated our relationships are with the people that we love.

I actually think a child might help Rory to grow up. She'd finally understand she needs to get her shit together. She'd panic at first and be very overwhelmed but it would help her grow. Not the ideal situation but yeah. She'd be a good mom .

Tristin and Logan are both handsome, blonde, rich and cocky, and they both have small eyes, so Logan is a sort of second Tristin to me. To me, they could have merged them into the same character! Rory and Tristin could have met again in Yale (with Tristin being the son of a Mitchum-like dad) and they could have started a relationship similar to the one that she had with Logan
For me, I would have wanted the following for the revival (which I still love tbh) : Lorelai and Luke already being married because it didn't make sense why they waited all these years since the OG series ended. Also, their communication and development was terrible given how a decade has passed and nothing has changed. Lane deserved SO MUCH better. She should have been a famous musician of some sorts. I also wanted so much more of Lane, A LOT MORE of Paris and of course a LOT more of Sookie. Rory had the most realistic arc in the revival in my opinion. I actually loved that she 'failed' in journalism cause this felt more realistic and relatable at that age, than the always perfect Rory always getting whatever she wanted.

I think my favorite Logan moment was when he dropped everything to be there for Rory when Richard has his heart attack. That’s love ❤️. It was also such a contrast with Christopher not being there for Lorelei. 😢

Haha! With regard to the culture references you are not alone. I am a reasonably intelligent middle-aged woman and I had to google a *lot* of references in this show! Example: “Oh, my God, Garrison Keillor, what is your point?”

I remember when I watched Will&Grace for the first time and there was so many pop culture references! I had to google them everytime something new came. Then I watched Golden Girls, and there's even more pop culture references there and this show is from the 80's!! I gave up the googling, and just went with it. if the audience was laughing long enough, I would google it. Some of the stuff isn't on google which makes it even harder to get the joke.
anyway, really good video and you gave me a little more perspective on the show.
In Golden Girls they removed a lot of the topical humor in reruns, they should have left it alone. If you know, you know 😉
I have a different take on who were Rory's top influences - like yes, Laine and Luke were good ROLE MODELS, actual influences seem to have been Emily, Logan, and Lorelei (both positive and negative, in her wanting a career and independence but also commitment issues).. 😄
You need to watch The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel next! The last season just started. Another Amy Sherman Palladino masterpiece 👌
Talking about Christopher and she says he was just so useless overall😂 truer words have never been spoken. Nice wit and chemistry in the earlier seasons but yeah poor Christopher got stale as a character

Mrs Kim is my favorite parent only because she grew and changed over the seasons,she had the best character development in my opinion.
I think with Jess, a lot of people probably have an experience like that from the party in their own life that they've justified in some way, so they justify it for Jess too. First time I watched the show was when it was on tv and I was Rory's age with a ex-bf like Jess so I was completely in love with him and Dean was so whiny and annoying. I re-watched this show so many times now at this point, but I remember the second time I re-watched it, Jess didn't win me over and I had completely forgotten about that scene. His character is amazing though and I totally wanted Rory to run away with him, lol. Or get back together later on when he was the voice of reason and she could have followed his lead and actually made something of herself. He would have been a really good influence for her when she had completely screwed her life up. I just imagine they have their own publishing house or something bonding over books :)

I disagree, if Rory was a boy, Lorelai would have been equally afraid if he would be irresponsible with sex and end up impregnating his gf. I think their relationship would still be different in the way that they wouldn't be best friends after he hits puberty cause I just can't imagine that

One thing that always rubs me the wrong way is when people say Luke practically raised Rory. Luke did not raise Rory. He might have been an integral and important influence on her life, but raised.. Reaching there too much. You are giving way too much credit there when he did not raise her. Rory always seemed very awkward around him when she was younger, even when he hugged her when they told him she got into those colleges, it felt awkward. Just cause someone might have baby sat you or taken care of you a few times when you were young does not mean that person raised them. A nanny helps raise someone's kids, someone who is there all the time and is helping reinforce the rules and boundaries and limits of the parents. There is so much inconsistentcy with how well Lorelei even knew Luke in those early years. She didnt know about Rachel or about Anna both of which would have been around when Lorelei was in stars hollow so how much interaction did they have when Rory was a kid that you can claim Luke helped raise Rory?
I absolutely loved Emily. It was shown numerous times that she desperately wanted to have the same kind of relationship with Lorelai as Lorelai has with Rory. It would be great if we could keep following the story with Rory's child or something similar and see what eventually happens with Lorelai & Luke, Emily & Lorelai's relationship etc.
The part people don't understand that the Life In a Year is what season 7 was supposed to be. Amy wanted it to be Rory saw her dad in Logan because he didn't grow at all. So when she finds out she's pregnant she makes the same decision her mom.
The whole time watching Ginny and Georgia I was like "they stole that from Gilmore girls!"

Christopher was the most repugnant character on the show...hands down. I seriously doubt Lorelai would have been able to make it work with Max. She didn't love him no matter how much she wanted to and I don't think that would have ever changed.
I started Ginny & Georgia because someone said it was like gilmore girls. And I find the moms background and story interesting. But the writing is soooo cringey
