Geniale Toccata. Der monothematische Charakter ist nur in der noch genialeren F-Dur Toccata genialer ausgearbeitet worden. Tolle Tempowahl, Dankeschön :)
I am a huge fan of Bernhard Schneider and his St. Aegidien performances/recordings. I'm an organist myself, and I learn a lot from him! This is one of the very few recordings that doesn't really work for me. It's no fault of the performer. This toccata is best suited to organs with a Rückpositiv, for manual differentiation. Without it, the contrast is often just not there. Every other aspect, tempo, phrasing, articulation, is fantastic!
Good tempo. I agree with the (baroque) staccato phrasing. Curiously, the legato is also used for some parts, the phrasing is very elaborate, thought. Interesting.
Impressive how the manual and pedal parts flow seamlessly into each other. Not saying Bach is ever lacking in this regard, but this composition really stands out that way. And it looks like you have to play some combination of pretty impressive hand stretches and creative spanning of hands across staves in spots.
Diese Registrierung ist näher zu der ursprünglichen in Bachs Zeit, sie benutzten damals keine romantischen Abwechslungen. Was ist aber meiner Meinung nach total schlecht, ist, dass dieser Organist wie eine Maschine spielt, er benutzt wirklich keine Agogik.

Probably just called dorian because it's in D minor
There's a lot of old works in G major called mixolydian.
