i feel fairly safe in saying i think i speak for the majority of the people here when i say we really appreciate the work and effort you put into these videos. the 'drive by' shots, 'leaving' shots, and of coarse the 'BTS' shots at the end take your videos to a higher level compared to many other 'campers'. and the fact that you know when to let the natural sound be the soundtrack instead of always adding music like so many others do. your videos come across as a friend showing us what you did last weekend. thank you for the entertainment.
Wow. Looks great for a 25 yr old truck. Garaged most likely. $150 bucks to fill with regular. Classic Toyota V8. You see contractors driving all over the place with this model.
A tip for repairing your waders. Turn them inside out and fill one leg with water. Locate the leak and mark it with a sharpie. Do the same with the other leg but only one at a time. Once you locate the leak. dry the waders and then apply a sealant like Aqua Seal or Silicone. When winter fly fishing, try using 2 nymphs and no dry fly. In the Fall and Winter, most of the feeding is happening on the bottom of the river. Add weight to get the fly on the bottom.
Good video. Nice camping spot. Just some little simple tarp setup for your Tundra bed would be perfect; I’m sure you enjoyed the open air, but you gotta stay dry. Thanks for sharing, and good luck with the truck repairs
I love your videos my friend. I know all of us who are subscribed appreciate what you do and the content you put out. Thank you for your positivity in today’s world.
In order to always have what you need to camp with, in a 5 gallon bucket and you won't forget anything. You can buy a two part lid. The inner lid screws into the outer lid which is basically a snap-on ring that is threaded for the inner lid. One is called Leaktite. I bought one from Lowe's. Home Depot has them but all I can find is a price for a pallet of the lids.
I love that you are exploring more fishing. I also enjoy your cookups. Sponsored videos are fine...you need to make money. Your sense of humour keeps things ticking along. Thanks for including us on your treks! Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Jonathan, thanks for the Anker plug, no pun intended. We were considering another name brand for some time and decided to buy something since there are so many sales at the moment. After watching your video, we browsed the Anker website and bought the Anker C1000. It should arrive in a few days! It's specs and features are better than the competition, and the unit had many 5 star reviews. I made sure to click the link you provided, so hopefully that helps you and the channel. Safe travels!
Try keeping the fly hooked on the 2nd or 3rd line guide instead of the little keeper ring, and wrap the fly line around the back of the reel. This way you always keep some fly line out of the rod tip and when you get to where you want to fish you don’t need to fiddle with the line to get it out.
This adventure was really "roughing it" compared to your camper. While the weather seemed a bit on the chilly side, it did look like you were having fun. That meal was also a winner. Take care and good luck getting your camper fixed and ready for the road.
Dude! You were doing great fly fishing! You had a great set up on and a decent part of the river. Sometimes they just don’t bit. Don’t give up! I joined your channel from your Sierra Nevada fishing episode and been a fan ever since! I’m also relatively new to fly fishing and it’s about getting out there a lot (All self taught on RUclips). Took me 3 or 4 trips till I got my first fish. Then they started rolling in! You’re soooo close to your first fish on the fly rod! Keep it up!!
Love the Tundra! Another good option for it would be a truck bed tent. Like a Kodiak truck tent! Would at least give protection from the rain when not using the camper. 👌
I used to have that exact model tundra, but mine was a v6 and it also got horrible gas mileage. I sold it with 349,000 miles on it, those trucks are bulletproof.
Ever the optimist. That will take you a long way. I love your intro shots, your music, and the editing. These videos are good. Your videos have always been good, but they are definitely getting better. Keep it up!
In the spirit asked, "who needs a truck camper?" ANYONE who doesn't want to get fried from the sun, soaked in the rain, and freeze in the snow!! However, having camped in nature many a time growing up, I know it can be done without a camper, or even a tent. It's only as we grow older that we WANT and need the comfort and saftey that shelter of some sort gives us while camping. But I'm sure you know this already, and only meant the question metaphorically or rhetorically. 😅😅😅
Hey! Really enjoyed tagging along on your latest adventure. The unexpected twists, from Ford repairs to the chilly river fishing, kept things exciting. Your positive vibe, even when the fish slipped away, is contagious! The camping spot was a hidden gem, and that campfire meal - mouthwatering! Looking forward to the Ford's comeback and hoping for some snowy escapades. Keep these awesome journeys coming - you've got a knack for turning the unexpected into pure fun!
I'm actually happy that you are driving the old truck due to safety reasons!🤗 The green in the scenic views look so amazing!!🌄And your food always looks like it's delicious, even if there's a messed up looking avocado present!🍲🥑See ya soon on more great adventures, and have a great Thanksgiving!🦃☕
Hello Jonathan it was nice to see you again. I loved it. And by the way my husband and I have the exact same Tundra just not as many miles as yours it drives like a tank. I actually left my husband watch your fly fishing experience we have been fly fishing for many years we like to go out West. Until the next video. Stay safe
Hello Jonathan, This was a good little adventure and Beautiful country, and that meal you prepared looked Super Yummy, it made me write down the idea for a future meal camping or not, Good Video, Thanks from John & Argie
Beautiful views from the camping spot. 😮 Keep up the positivity, and kudos for not letting obstacles discourage you from continuing to camp and create content. We’re rooting for you! #SafeTravels #HappyCamping #ThanksForSharing 🏕️
i always double hook set when i get one on. Then for slower deep water you can always use a streamer, throw a big mend to get it down. the fish on the d can be very spooky. i try to cast behind brush and a little further. good luck and tight lines!
Wow, that seems to be one of the most awesome camp adventures ever, good food, good fire, warm sleep, fresh air! Your video was excellent , I actually felt as if I were there! Thanks for taking us along Jonathan, I hope your week is wonderful! 🥰😀👋👋👍👍
Nice little spot John , loved the used Tundra you picked up. Looks like she still runs great with 240k 👍 better luck next time 🎣 fishing. Loved the big horn sheep on the mountain. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
trout lay around rocks where the food comes to them, they don't travel but a few feet once in a hole. they adjust activity according to quantity of food coming to them.
You should consider doing more cooking videos in between your camping adventures. You have good recipes and access to great food markets in Oregon 🤷♂️
Johnathan, really consider a Kodiak canvas 2 person tent for your Tundra! That way when the the camper is on the blitz, you can still go camping and make videos!!!!❤
That Kodiak looks really sweet. I have the Napier Backroadz for my first gen tundra and it works great and is a fraction of the cost. But the Kodiak looks super nice.
Tundra is darn good truck, just broken in. Ford, one side worn other is too. Tie rod ends, ball joints shocks need looked at steering link. I have '90 model F250 with 323k on it. Bought new so I know it. Need you an affordable topper cap. At least in the dry.
Grilled Chicken burrito bowl. Yum. Glad you are not spooked. Kinda creepy out there in the dark, but I guess the bears are asleep and the coyotes are too small.
Sometimes smaller rivers (or sections of rivers) are easier to fish because they provide more options and you won't feel so overwhelmed. Fish don't really hang out and feed in wide open clear portions of water. Why? That's not where their food is, that's not safe for them and they would have to expend too much energy to maintain position in open current. You were right to acknowledge that you probably weren't in the best spot on the river but I would focus on finding smaller sections that have lots of rock/logs/features for fish to hide around and look for seams on the water where foam and other floating debris is.
Loved the video , seeing the goats was cool. Where is that campsite , what river. Who knows I might actually get to go there one day ? Hopefully so ! Love your little Tundra ! Have a great Thanksgiving !
On light freshwater fly fishing tackle, the reel is for storage, not retrieval. Get your fish in by stripping the line back. Heavier saltwater fishing you use the reel and drag.
My bro made a meal straight out of chipotle 😂 also you’ve become the king of the tundras…. Hey man, I feel the love. I have a 18 tundra… 😂 love the snow peak grill. I have the small one. Love my exped as well 🤘🏾👊🏾👍🏾
Hi Jonathan I just ran into your channel about a week ago and now binge watching all of your numerous past content. Excellent and very interesting style of Vloging. Good to see your new episode 😊👍 In one of your recent videos, it mentions that you "made a mistake" Maybe it's me, but what was the mistake that was made? 🤔 Keep up the great content! 😊👍
Welcome back to the Toyota family, get a softopper for it, they’re cheap (compared to a regular camper) they’re suprisingly way more water proof than a regular camper and the best part is it’s super light weight and you can take it and and off under a minute
✨ Early on in the video I was trying to figure out where you were... I was guessing Canada ! 😄 Oregon is such an amazing state ! You can even find gold on the ground I've seen in other videos ! Maybe you can look into that sometime, $$$ You never know ! Whatch out for that gold bug ! It's addicting Johnathan ! 😄
Sup mane? I knew something was up in your other vid when you went crabbin'. I was like who's truck he got lol? Love ur vids bro. You are truly appreciated.
Rough water is better for fly fishing... they cant see the line as well and they tend to be more aggressive.... Great sear on the chicken .... I bet it was awesome... I wish I had smellavision....
That wheel bearing has been going out for a long time now. You should really check the whole front suspension and steering at this point. If one side goes the other is not far behind it. You're probably looking at a $4,000.00 repair, depending on your ability to do some of the work.
Perhaps "store" your camper shell - if you still have it - on the red Tundra, while keeping your camper on the other truck. That way you'd be ready to roll regardless of conditions and vehicle repair issues|?
Love your vids man, but not everyone needs a daily driver. Living in Seattle makes it easy for my g/f and I to share a car, and we only use it for out of town trips. Daily "driving" is what bikes and buses are for! But keep up the good work and I look fwd to the day you make a vid about not needing a daily driver in PDX.

The leaving shots crack me up. Like oh I’m driving away and leaving. Jk I have to come back and get my camera.
@@JoeMNPT I bet there are hundreds of GoPros lost out there in the wilderness 🥴
I love, love the scenic shots with the music soundtrack! Thank you so much for taking us with you peaceably on your camping adventures 😊
8:48 🕺🤣👏💕👍 and then the lil Toyota Commercial at 0:59 love it! 😆👍 fellow 1st gen tundra owner
Wow. Looks great for a 25 yr old truck. Garaged most likely. $150 bucks to fill with regular. Classic Toyota V8. You see contractors driving all over the place with this model.
You should always keep a tarp/canopy when camping out like that. Even in summer to help with the sun!

The positive attitude he has is what initially hooked me

The Tundra vids are back🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 Gives a sense of reliability and warmth to the videos IMO
Keep the content droppin man!
Love this video ...
.I love all the different ways you like to camp.... this is very nice😊

That’s a great idea for the Tundra! They aren’t too expensive either! Go for it Johnathan!
Great idea! I have one for my first gen tundra, got it on Amazon for under $200 and it works great.
Just put a canopy on it.
For times like this you should get a truck bed tent, it would provide shelter against the elements. I know, one more thing to buy
😉
I used to have that exact model tundra, but mine was a v6 and it also got horrible gas mileage. I sold it with 349,000 miles on it, those trucks are bulletproof.
Terrible gas mileage but they run forever for sure!
But wouldn’t it get better gas mileage as compared to the v8?
Ever the optimist. That will take you a long way. I love your intro shots, your music, and the editing. These videos are good. Your videos have always been good, but they are definitely getting better. Keep it up!
Seeing this was a nice change of pace. I love love, love your truck camper but this was unexpected and easy going.

You should construct a light weight pvc frame for a tarp canopy over the bed
Love the 1st gen tundra! I just got one!
What a great looking Tundra! I would much rather have one like that than the ones they sell now.
Hello Jonathan it was nice to see you again. I loved it. And by the way my husband and I have the exact same Tundra just not as many miles as yours it drives like a tank. I actually left my husband watch your fly fishing experience we have been fly fishing for many years we like to go out West. Until the next video. Stay safe
Regardless of how you choose to camp, I love your cooking segments! Everything you prepare looks to yummy I can almost taste it!
Loved those mountain goats!
Hello Jonathan, This was a good little adventure and Beautiful country, and that meal you prepared looked Super Yummy, it made me write down the idea for a future meal camping or not, Good Video, Thanks from John & Argie

When it comes to river fishing, fish right below the changes. A narrow, curve, inlet, dam, etc.
Wow, that seems to be one of the most awesome camp adventures ever, good food, good fire, warm sleep, fresh air! Your video was excellent , I actually felt as if I were there! Thanks for taking us along Jonathan, I hope your week is wonderful! 🥰😀👋👋👍👍

Fine until gulf ball size hail or heavy rains bears 😊

Thanks for bringing us along❤
If it is deep then fish it with Rapala gold/black or silver/black 3” sinking minnow or Mepps in-line spinners with pink and/or black on it.
Awesome campsite looks like near Prineville Or.Beautiful area.
Invest in a truck bed tent. Easy setup and storage options
Yah! Simplicity you always say. Good video
In video ads don’t bother me at all. If I’m not interested I can skip right past them. Get those sponsorship 💰.
hard to fish and line floating toward you. always keep tension on the line and rod tip up. so adjust location to do so.
1st gen Tundras will run forever!
is there gold in them thar hills?
that meal looks insane. and on a campsite.
Been watching your channel since 2020 now. I always look forward to your uploads man. I hope I can do what you do someday and escape the rat race !
As much as I want a proper camper I use this and a soft topper every time I go on a fishing trip in my tundra 😂
Tundra is darn good truck, just broken in. Ford, one side worn other is too. Tie rod ends, ball joints shocks need looked at steering link. I have '90 model F250 with 323k on it. Bought new so I know it. Need you an affordable topper cap. At least in the dry.
Dry a double nymph setup with a indicator on top. Works better when its colder in the seasons.
Use a spinner setup if it's legal. Some Mepp's 1/4 oz or less lures. white/silver blades gold too. cold water fish slow.
Grilled Chicken burrito bowl. Yum. Glad you are not spooked. Kinda creepy out there in the dark, but I guess the bears are asleep and the coyotes are too small.
Why’d you get rid of your two other white tundras?? 😥
That things so clean for the mileage!!

No cash, write a check. Then you have proof if cash is "lost".
You got you one bowl of goodness! Yum yum❤
Always a pleasure to watch your videos.
Loved the video , seeing the goats was cool. Where is that campsite , what river. Who knows I might actually get to go there one day ? Hopefully so ! Love your little Tundra ! Have a great Thanksgiving !
wow very nice experience friend
Good to see you.
Great video! I love that camp spot. One of my favorites. Tight lines!
Poor guy. It’s always something.
That’s life my friend.
On light freshwater fly fishing tackle, the reel is for storage, not retrieval. Get your fish in by stripping the line back. Heavier saltwater fishing you use the reel and drag.

Opening screens looked like Scotland 😮.. quietly beautiful
Would have been really nice to identify the river and the area where you camped.
you are brave. I would of been scared as Heck sleeping outside in the open.

What beautiful scenery!
Yay!!!🎉🎉🎉 Always look forward to a vid from you 👍🍂 gorgeous
Great video jonathan! Those were some great views! And that chicken looks so good 😂
I don't have my ear plugs so I don't truly know the content of your video. Love the Toyota,
Welcome back to the Toyota family, get a softopper for it, they’re cheap (compared to a regular camper) they’re suprisingly way more water proof than a regular camper and the best part is it’s super light weight and you can take it and and off under a minute
Nice relaxing and fun video. I won’t do a snow dance but I will hope for you to catch a big trout.

enjoyed the video dude! you got me with the new truck. thought you already replaced the disiel. LOL Keep adventuring Nomad!
Rough water is better for fly fishing... they cant see the line as well and they tend to be more aggressive.... Great sear on the chicken .... I bet it was awesome... I wish I had smellavision....
You’re in the Pacific Northwest in November, i thought rain was the norm 🤔
How do you get those colors?!?! Love it!
I believe it is Lithium Ion not Lithium Iron? 😊
That meal looks amazing. ❤
Waiting for a video with the Toyota wagon!!

Food fusion at its best...A little Asian, a little Mexican, a bit of "camp"... a delicious meal!
What brand of mattress are you using, great video
