Tip for the oven, buy a square pizza stone and put it on the lower "rack" (the solid sheet of metal, not the main rack) it helps disperse the heat a little better and I noticed things cooked more evenly.
It helps to moderate the heat cycle of the oven... Makes sense to me...
Yeah, we just leave it in the oven all the time
Love your grandparents house. Should have shown more of it. Love older homes. They have character. The newer ones all look the same.
There's wisdom in knowing when to move on. Sometimes we don't resonate with a place, or it with us. There's no shame in this recognition.
The pizza looks good
Don't be so hard on yourself, you don't owe me an explanation. I'm glad that you got to see the colors of fall on the trees. And I look forward to seeing your next adventures.
Totally agree.. who knows what issues affected Jonathan? His business, we are along for the ride!🎉😊
Awesome that you were able to get to Acadia National Park (one of our fav spots), and if I'm mistaken, you ate in Bar Harbor at Mainly Meat restaurant. Great beers and food. We love your videos Jonathan.
When I was a little kid, I kept asking my dad, “are we there yet?” He would tell me to sit back and enjoy the ride. Driving is in my blood, and your videos are so fun to watch no matter the destination. I’m sitting here in my kitchen enjoying the ride! Ty! 🚗💨💨
great video! and remember you deserve a private life & privacy for things you want to keep to yourself even if you are a content creator. Have a great day!
Love your editing and music. You blend it well with recipes, talking heads, and scenery.
You have to do what is best for YOU. Don’t feel like you have to do just for others. Take care of yourself.
For the fuel mileage check the following : As tires wear, rolling friction increases. It does with low pressure too, so check that. Clean the exhaust back pressure sensor and tube. Check fuel pressure is still in the 50-60ish range. Low fuel pressure means accelerating more to do the same work as before. Try some Seafoam, PS Diesel Kleen or Hot Shot Secret to clean the injectors. If you end up dropping the tank to check the fuel sending unit for accuracy, be sure and clean or replace the mixing chamber screens. . Hope you go to Florida next - warm weather and great scenery
I love your truck camper and enjoy your adventures.I hope we see more of Tessa too, she seems like such a nice person.
3000 miles to turn around maine is beautiful this time of year
This channel is an emotional roller coaster. Much like real life I suppose. Lots of trial & error with dashes of disappointment.
Agree, use a pizza stone for all baking. Used one in RV for years with great success..Also great for frozen foods & reheating left-overs. Stone distributes even heat.
Welcome to Colorado! We are having snow currently, so don't know if you are still here. Enjoy it all, whatever the day may bring Jonathan. I think your ability to just let things flow will help you to have a wonderful life. Thanks for sharing this video and for taking us along. I am 66 now, and I wonder what my life would have been like to have even half of the experiences you have had so far. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy everything Jonathan! 😀👋👋👍👍❤
So glad I moved out of Colorado and California. The dry air is so bad for your lungs.
when we were in bar harbor, gateway lunts closed, in fact the employees were having a get together just after closing at the beacon
This video was a major drag dude,
I love your videos. Being away from people is tough, loneliness can cause problems. I hope you feel better now.
You are smart and strong.😊
Another great ride! Hanging and cooking with you in the camper is always fun! Anker power station ! Wow! Gotta get one!
The change in driving East to West can have a noticeable effect on gas mileage because of prevailing wind direction.
Being in the east, it always amazes me to see vids of all the dispersed camping opportunities out west! One day I’ll make it out there! 😊
Great to see you again this week ! Heading home is always exciting too ! Your grandparents home was absolutely beautiful. Great memories I am sure.
Put the rack in the middle of the oven otherwise it burns the bottom fast if it's right above it. We live in a fifth wheel right now. Also have a small pan upside right above where the fire is for another barrier to not burn food while baking. Another tip is get an oven temp monitor. Ones that hang off the rack for a accurate reading.
Check your tire pressure and air filter. Works for me every time. Also might want to check the brakes. If one’s hanging up it’ll cause drag. Good luck.
Happy travels Jonathan. Yeah you need like 3 months to really do a cross country trip and enjoy it fully. Thanks for taking us along 💕🤙
I'm proud of you for choosing to take care of yourself first. Videos can always wait. Love your channel, bro!
I think you have a prevailing wind that accounts for the mileage difference. A west to east wind is pretty common, and you rig is like a big sail, so you could have been getting a 1 mpg assist traveling east, and now have a 1 mpg headwind impact heading back. Might we worth confirming that before you spend too much time on the fuel filter. Sorry if you cover that later on in the video.
Some of our best adventures are the ones that don’t go as expected. Happy trails Jonathan ❤
You should do a video testing out that power station, Jonathan and see what appliances can run on it
OBSERVATION bummer we didn't get to see Maine as i was so waiting to see Maine and Nova Scotia in your filming and exploring style, bc weve seen the west in every video. Good luck
Thank you for sharing your trip, things happen so don’t beat yourself up,I’m sure you will be glad to get home, drive safe
Love to see you wrenching on your rig brotha! Don’t worry about people seeing you work on your truck. Most people don’t even know how to change a tire. Keep up the exploration, good or bad it’s too relatable. Love it! Be safe my dude.
We don't know what we don't know. Don't be hard on yourself. Drive safe.
To me, it's incredible all the things you do, traveling , camping, fixing things by yourself !! Don't bear yourself up if plans have to change, it's no big deal. Happens to everyone 😊. Great video, keep safe !!
❤❤❤❤ Snow camping! Can't wait!! Be safe out there.☺️
lower tire pressure or driving into a head wind vs tailwind can easily affect ~2mpg change. good luck on the trip!
With the recent tragedy in Maine… maybe your bad luck was actually good luck that made you leave. Hang in there, love the pics.
I was thinking the same 😮
I was also worried when I heard the location of the tragedy.
I live here in Maine...can't get any more to the East...and there are PLENTY of places to camp. Especially with your camper dude. I wish you hadn't of had your problem or whatever is going on. And I also hope that you get it fixed pretty quickly. Have fun dude...stop in and say HI the next time you get to Maine.
Live and learn. You didn’t make any mistakes you just learned a lot. You are doing great!
That’s our favorite frozen pizza! :)
no way my aunt, uncle, and cousins used to live in Poland, OH! I would go up there every christmas
When you were driving over that bridge from Iowa to Omaha NE and showed the train up on the hill, that’s where I live.
PS- the recent switch to Winter Gas blend was probably what you experienced with lower mpg, that and the prevailing winds heading back West
Hey have fun in Denver, enjoy the rest of your adventure 😊❤️
The point? You did it and made a great adventure.
Hopefully Anker gives you good ratings on your ad videos. Incredible presentation
You were staying about a half mile away from me in Iowa City! I hope you enjoyed your time here!
Thank you for the videos ,very enjoyable. I just got back from a cross country road trip too was gone for 2 months. There is just so much to see in this great place we live. There is never enough time. Just enjoy what you can. 🎉
Amazing Adventure Love your Childhood Home ❤ The Trees ❤️ 🍕🍕 Thank you
There is tons of dispersed camping in the north east maybe a little better planning next time especially in maine sorry u turned back sometimes u just need to push through u can do anything u put ur mind to
95% of Maine is in private hands. Tons of dispersed sights, I doubt it.
U should ck before u doubt look up north Maine woods it’s a few million acres of forest available for recreation
I commented before to you that you don’t owe us subscribers no explanation about what you do or don’t do. It was a learning experience and nothing else. Grow from it and continue doing what you do best. Your old og subscriber from Sparks NV. Thank you👍👍😅
Love your videos Jonathan, something about it really different from other channels! Hope you’re feeling better today mentally & physically ❤
Love the sound of that 7.3l dude! 🤙
Hey Jonathan, most places have switched over to winter diesel now, you'll get less MPG with winter diesel. I bet that's all that is different now.
Regarding your gas mileage, have you been checking your tire air pressure? That makes a huge difference, and the air in the tires expands and contracts with the temperature.
You also are driving back in a head wind and that rig is an aero brick wall. Try the Stealth Module on your diesel, it is plug and play. Makes a world of difference. You tube stealth module. Great video and glad you were transparent and no worries on needing some time for you outside the camera!
I was thinking it right as you said it and that's we all need to stop and rest and recalibrate nothing wrong with that actually that's fairly intelligent shows a lot of wisdom. Godspeed.
Bad time of the year to come out here to New England. Most camping/ tourist stuff starts to close around 10/15. Come back next time in the spring !!
You win some, you lose some. I ran into a similar situation when made a trip out west from my home in NC. I am sure you learned some lessons as I did. Great video!
Sorry to see your trip come to an end. You might consider coming to the southeast in the spring. Definitely need to go to the Smoky Mountains, Blue Ridge Parkway, NC Outer Banks.
Bummer that the fall colors you were hoping to see didn't put on a show this year.
Hello can’t believe I haven’t watch one of your videos for five months I wasn’t getting any notifications so glad I found your channel again love the beautiful scenery thank you for taking us with you 🙏🤎🧡
MPG loss normally occurs going from warm weather to cold because of decreased tire pressure. Good luck.
Long road trips can be hard. Glad to see you are heading back. Sure you enjoyed Denver, great city and a lot to do.😀
For the 7.3, it helps to cycle the glow plugs a few times before cranking. Also when you can, plug it in.
If I’m being completely honest I wanna know the story! But as long as your ok and in a good place mentally that’s all that really matters! I really enjoy your content, I watch every video and I just wanna say keep up the great work and Im sure we’re all pulling for you! Life is hard to figure out sometimes! Anyway take care be safe and BEAT THE STATUS QUO!
Thats what happen when you travel alone. Mental issue surface. And no one consolide you. Travel with partner will be more fun
I'm curious, too. I hope all is well.
@@jules1sd ya I think when we connect with people we follow on youtube we develop a certain amount of caring for that person! For now we’re just going to have to be happy that he’s in a better state of mind for now!
Time to winterize and get ready for colder weather. Hope you continue with winter camping.
I hope you are someday brave enough to drive the alcan up to Alaska. Put Sitka, Kenai and Homer on your list. Get a Milepost to help plan the trip.
Hey Jonathan! Great video. I'm sorry things didn't work out for the final portion of your trip. Life happens and you roll with it. I am glad you made it to Acadia. I hope you got to enjoy it. Your pictures look great. It is an amazing place. Hopefully, you can return another time when you can enjoy the experience more.
Good luck on the return trip. I hope you get to do some winter camping - even if it isn't winter just yet. Despite having to return before you planned, it feels like an epic adventure and I appreciate you taking us along!
Too bad you had to leave the East Coast after a bad experience. You should have circled down South on your way home 😊 You know what they say about Southern hospitality! Safe travels on the rest of your journey home.
Nice vanilla sky reference
I recently bought a coffee maker thingy like yours, except it’s stainless steel. It also doesn’t require a paper liner. It was pretty inexpensive at my local kitchen shop, so I’m sure you could find one . I have enjoyed using it, I think it’s from Germany. I thought about it when you showed yours breaking, and thought I’d mention it to you. Im sorry about the trip. It’s hard to find campsites on east coast is an understatement. The amount, vs,. The demand is a problem. Im enjoying your channel.
7.3’s have filters in the tank that are prone to gunking up. Also your driving with winter blend fuel now which will give you less mpg.
I really enjoyed your going home videos ! Not a complete loss 😊
You can also camp at Cracker Barrel. They just ask that you go in and tell them first. They may ask that you park at a certain spot in the lot. They would also like for you to eat a meal with them.
Love Singlespeed!! Hope you liked it
Gas mileage updates are always appreciated.
Poland…damn dude…I live really close to Poland, OH. I know what you mean about that small town feel there! Poland is an awesome little town. I am over that way at least once a week shopping and getting gas in Boardman. I live just across the OH/PA border…gas is so much cheaper in OH!!!
Next time you visit Poland, give me shout…breakfast, lunch or dinner is on me bro!
BTW-I second the idea of getting a pizza stone to disperse the heat in your oven. Also, next time you’re in Walmart pick up a cheap oven thermometer as your oven dial, like most in an oven, isn’t 100% accurate.
As always, stay safe out there….
Dinner looked great
Jonathan, The trip may not have been what you had in mind but each state has it's seasons and to me, spending time in your grandparents home was goid for your soul and sabity.
I think your hindsight will be 20/20. This trip was for a reason only you know. I just like you and your content. It's real and not all jazzed up to be something it's not.
I love tour honesty and toyr heart and your strengh to handle your life with that level head if yours. No worries Jonathan. Loved yiu video. See you next time. Keep safe in the road.❤.
Despite the bumps along the way, I hope you had a good journey and it definitely gives you stories to tell for the rest of your life. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us. May also wanna invest in a pizza tray. 😉
Look at your owners manual on How about to BROIL in you oven. So you can brown the top of your pizza.
winter mix fuel is probably the culprit for the mileage issue
Duck tape was the first thing my brother gave me when I left home, he said no one should be without it, and you just proved it. Definitely change your (Air Filter asap) check the spark plugs and the air in your tires, these things will cause a noticeable drop in your gas mileage
Try putting seafoam in the actual crankcase. This will clean up them sticky injectors and improve fuel economy.
There’s two filters on those powersmokes. My dumptruck main high pressure filter is under the driver side. That one is a bitch but doable in a ‘park’.
Also I don’t know If someone else stated but for diesel there is a winter blend and a summer blend that the refinery use depending on the part of the country your in. As a truck driver who is all over the country I have noticed my fuel mileage change depending on where I get fuel
Glad you're going to try again, probably earlier in the year. This was certainly a fun series even though not all your plans went the way you wanted. Clearly the actual mistake mentioned in the caption was the pizza on the middle rack, amirite? :) p.s. When you get home, stay away from that sledgehammer!
The east coast does that to a guy! Welcome back to the west ⛺️🇺🇸
Jono, rethink this. Rather than thinking of this as a mistake, think of it more as a reconnaissance mission. I doubt there would be any one of your followers that at some stage have gone on an adventure either at the wrong time or a little under planned and then had a disappointing outcome, it happens and while it's cost a few bucks in gas, you have added some vids to your channel and shown us some new ground. As a result of the "recci" you can now better plan to be there for the autumn colors and availability of camp sites when your time and/or budget allows. Looking forward to the next one!
Yeah buy a round or square pizza stone that fits in the oven it spreads the heat evenly in the oven. I like the char!
Parking lots, streets and Walmarts are my kind of camping. Nothing wrong with that.
Stay safe on those mountain passes in the snow storms.
I'm surprised you didn't stay at the Iowa 80 truck stop! that place is amazing! i highly recommend visiting there!
I worked at a gas station when I was young and the refinery had different mixtures for Summer and Winter. One of them gave worse gas mileage but I don't remember which one.
Maybe in the spring when camp sites open up you can try again. 🌳🌳🌳
Maybe put your truck in the shop.
You might have a dirty injector.
Get it running good and put a pint of cheap O'Reilly ATF in the fuel.
tank. But only if it's pre 2006. Then fuel it full.
Jonathan,
You changed the secondary fuel filter. There is another one under the truck midships driver side in the frame channel. you need a allen wrench to first drain the housing then a 24mm soccet to mremove the filter
The hell with other, YOU B U !! I enjoy you’er Vlogs ! No matter what you’re doing, going home or travel ❤
It seemed like you were on that trip for 2 weeks @ most. The high cost of fuel is one of the reasons that I don't feel the urge to travel these days. Another reason is at my age I don't have the patience for many of the idiots on the roadway. Glad that you were able to get away & blow the stink off. Have a great day & thanks for the videos.
