Thank you so much. All my husband's symptoms were overlooked until he had a Right Cerebellar Stroke on his hospital bed. After going back and forth from doctor to specialists and multiple tests and blood work ups. Now he has to undertake physio therapy. So tye focus now is getting him back to as normal as possibly🙏

I am so lucky to have, not one but two, neuropsychologists on my team. The diagnosing one and the therapeutic one (who happens to be his wife!). Tomorrow is my DBS surgery and I’m so glad I have both on my team, I know that Dr. Young will be there to assist me in processing any emotional side effects of the DBS procedure. I am so happy to have her on my team!
I have essential tremors and my Neuro has suggested DBS. I'm actually quite scared of this. What gave you the strength to go through with it? I would rather use the DBS as a last resort.
@@PalmettoMoon I can actually report that, post DBS, it was fantastic! One of the best surgical experiences I’ve ever had! It’s not the amount of strength but the desire to let ET effect me as little as possible! My neuro said that during the test phase of the surgery I was doing things that I haven’t been able to do in years! What’s not to love about that!
@@inthekitchenwithbubby7724 That's such a great testimony. How long did you have to go before the doc said, let's do DBS?
It was actually pretty quick because I had a total intolerance to the meds. I guess about 4-5 months. But remember, COVID interrupted the whole time line so from the time they suggested DBS and I had completed the testing, covid hit and everything stopped for about 4-6 months! I felt like my life was literally hanging in the balance! Longest wait of my life! The nurse that took me to my car was telling me he had ET and was on propanalol and doing well! No so for me! I actually have ET on both sides and I’ve noticed my left side getting worse. I will not hesitate to get the left (right side of the brain) side done!
@@inthekitchenwithbubby7724 Ok, my Neuro (which I'm not fond of) told me DBS start to finish would take nine months to a year process. He also told me that with DBS that you couldn't do both sides??? My tremors are worse on my left side. He suggested the non evasive surgery where they use (I guess) some type of laser treatment. Btw, I've been on the gambit of meds and nothing has worked. I finally gave up on the ET meds.
With right oribital lobe deficit I already said things with an abrupt mannerism now it is just magnified!
I have recently gotten the diagnosis of dementia and your lecture has made me aware of other possibilities for causes of various symptoms in atrophy in the brain MRI. Thank you I am going to be my own advocate and question my doctor.
My mom just got the diagnosis for dementia. She also has a large tumor pressing on her cerebellum. It’s being removed asap. Both found at the same time. I can’t help but wonder if the tumor is causing the “early” dementia symptoms.

Can the cerebellum issues be fixed with nueroplasity?
My husband and I are at the beginning of understanding and healing functionally from some type of cerebellum/pons atrophy. I say atrophy cuz we still have no input of what the degeneration is. My husband had very remarkable wide gait and increasing symptoms but mild for years. No one would listen or pursue it until we chose to go to Cleveland Clinic and pay out of our pocket for a $800 evaluation. Sad thing that was the first time my husband had a full clinical neuro exam... and here we are today.
What about a tumor on the cerebellum?
My husband is having a lots of healt issus . Tremor in hands and legs, witch are.getting worse. Pain in his hips witch are not really explained by the x rays. Difficulty walking. Lost of interest in many matters. Lost of weight and more.
It would be very helpful for us.
His neurologist is thinking of a possible surgery but we are waiting for an appointment in the spring to talk about it. So far we had a phone appointment letting us know that his cyst got bigger since the couple last years.

Check into possible lyme in that area of the brain. Lyme causes problems wherever it settles in the body. Different areas for different people. Ignex testing necessary.
BC with brain Mmets to cerebellum, parietal and occipital lobes. This really helps me to understand.

do not know if it will help, but why not try a trial run of keto. It helps with epilepsy.

It would be great if you could address how we can get Drs to believe us, and do something without instantly summing you up as a nut job or wanting to put you on tons of drugs. Also, Cerebellar strokes and the senses. What about its effects on our hearing? I lost 50% hearing when I went into the Ent's office. One week later, I had already lost another 8%! I hear my pulse and feel it in my head and ears constantly. My ICA on the Right literally grew into my inner ear...I DO hear my pulse! But now, I am constantly feeling as if I am underwater! Rushing water sounds in my ears, and severe dizziness. Could you address that? Also, any good neurologists in the Portland Or area?

Can exercise, medication, or supplements help in any way to help faster recovery?
Check into the role of low potassium and high calcium. Do an ari hair analysis.. bc its of the "natural" nature, people do not place any value in it. I had the hair analysis and she warned me that i was gonna have a stroke if I didn't correct my levels. Last week I had a stroke in my cerebellum. Be your own researcher!

-I am Epileptic (taking Lamotrigine 75mg daily) loosing memory, and have Cerebellum Atrophy (not develop/no symptoms).
My neurologist told me it only involves coordination, we don't touch it/do nothing.

I read that Lamotrigine meds affects coordination, then should l be quitting this antiseizure med???

The problem l see today with most Drs is that they only prescribe meds but do not prevent future developing diseases.
(I was on Keto diet and fasting but quit everything on December'2023. 🤷♀️)

How do I know what part/issue I might have with my brain? I had a spontaneous SAH many years ago. I was hospitalized for 4 days and had a full recovery. Now within the last year I have been diagnosed with Parkinson's/Lewy Body or Posterior Cortical Atrophy (we are waiting for further diagnosis as symptoms develop over the years). Could this be due to cerebellar damage from the SAH? Thank you!

I have a balance problem which nobody seems able to diagnose. Perhaps ot is a cerebellum problem. I've had a brain mri and nothing was said about the cerebellum involvement. Is this connection possible or probable?
Had a cerbellar stroke about three months ago I couldn't even sit up without falling down on the bed , currently I have bad balance walking and trembling during fine motor skills. Would like to know what your prrevious and current status is if you don't mind and what you did to overcome it.Any tips?

Everything I have seen or heard says the cerebellum is just like the brain, it controls the opposite side of the body. You say it is the same side, but out of everything else I have seen, you are the only one who says that.
Regarding same side/opposite side - maybe double check that you aren't confusing cerebrum and cerebellum?
Does Dr. Sullivan actually address / answer questions posted here?
