There's tons of games who's ost demolish the winner...
Or game of the year.
For me that'd have to go to Hollow Knight, but Celeste is a very close second.
This may change when I get the chance to actually play the game though - I have it but when I try to run it my computer freezes and I have to restart it 😬 probably because I'm trying to run it through my data drive. . . who knows.
Once I got past the first two sections of 7C I was like "ok this ain't too bad, what's next?" And when I used the telescope nothing but pain awaited my eyes
All hoped drained from my eyes when I saw it for the first time and died at the start so many times. By the end of it I think the level broke me....
The sheer feeling of giddiness when I finally cleared that screen was godlike.
My friend told me B-Sides were for fun, so I did the summit one first. : D I want to die

@@tsumugisnenpi3057 Yes I have. It's been about a month since I last played Celeste, I pretty much beat it 100% (Except the Golden Strawbs)
b-side of reflection is pretty much the hardest level in the entire level on controller. Seriously it's almost impossible to control precisely that feather on gamepad. Took me 1000 deaths just to beat that one level.

I really love how the normal chapter 7's music is praising you and cheering for your success ,while the B and C sides music is more highlighting how intense and hard the level is ,almost praising for the level's certain victory
for me A-music is "You can do this!" and B-music is "you can do this. you might not, but you can try"
that is an amazing way to say it
Unpopular oppinion: Celeste isn't really that hard, neither are the B and C Sides. The progession in difficulty is designed so none of them should take one very long.
@@butchcassidy887 It doesn't mean the game isn't hard, it means that the difficulty is fair. A game which requires precision to get through is a difficult game.

When one single screen takes more of your time than 2-3 chapters of the game combined.
*yup, sounds like 7C*
Edit: 3 years later and I've collected the golden berry on 7B. This song helped me tremendously with staying focused.
7c takes me 3x longer than clearing the full game

The C-Side of this level broke me. Almost literally too. After two hours of trying, dashing in different directions in rapid succession I couldn't properly move my hand at work anymore. And I'm not even done yet. Once it's fully functional again I have to keep on. I feel like this is harder than Chapter 9, which has my current highest death count with over 5k and cost over 22 hours total level time
ch.9 took me 23h and 13k deaths, 10h were spent on one exact screen, 7C is Waaaaaaaaay easier in my opinion
@@miutonata5052 the final screen in 7C is probably harder than every individual screen in 9 although there are screens in 9 that take longer
@@IschmarVI Personally I think the final screen of Chapter 9 is the single most difficult screen in the game, but 7C's final screen is definitely a close second.
chapter 9 is way harder, its barely comparable
to be more specific:
7c just takes learning, its only 3 screens, and its not that long, heck the golden berry doesnt change the difficulty that much, cus once you complete 7c once, the first two screens get consistent, and the last one has a different kind of consistency.
for chapter 9, dear god
there are like a bajillion different rooms, several different paths, a golden berry thats the hardest achievement in the game, and a hidden moon berry, ontop of all of that, its by far the longest chapter, 9 whole subchapters in total
they really arent comparable in the slightest
Never.... never give up. Celeste is a healing mountain. Fighting this demon, will let you move on. Good luck my friends. NO MORE RUNNING.

Seriously, the whole time in the C-side I kept laughing seeing the only platform you could land on were just some disappearing clouds
This music perfectly captures a point between terrified anxiety, and raw determination. It's magical.
The moment where you go higher with the help of Badeline and the music play the melodies all u have to do is vibes, well at least is this what i did
Summit A side: A nice and joyful music which makes you feel like you have overcame your hindrances and ready to accomplish anything, no one can stop you at this point. Every level (forsaken city, old site etc.) feel a lot more shorter and easier to complete, with the help of Badeline you can just pass through all the parkour that you had to go through before. With each 500 meters, the music keeps changing to give you the feeling that you are progressing at an incredible rate, yet it remains the same in terms of the melody, which , at heart, is the sound of success. Even though the levels and their music changes as you go higher, the ''you'' who makes progress never changes. Reaching the summit of celeste had never been easier before.
Summit B and C sides: On the other hand, ''No More Running'' is, extremely different from A side music. Levels are harder, you are not in control of the situation anymore. Badeline helps you less, you don't get to skip parkours with badeline much. Levels are cruel... it is like they are made to make you give up, quit the game, make you think that it is impossible. While you are in the middle of the B side somewhere you've been stuck with quite some time, you look for something because you think something is missing...the music. The goose bumps of ''Reaching the Summit'' are no where to be found. All you have is a progressive, oddly serious jam which gives an atmosphere of severity. You don't feel like progressing anymore because the song is not changing everytime you reach a new 500 meter. All these aspects easily gives you the thought that you are playing a hard level. And you feel like the game actually wants to give you this message. However, this level is hard and cruel for a reason of course. The moment you complete the level, Badeline and Madeline speaks to each other. They talk about they are unstoppable, they talk about they accomplished such a thing... isn't it weird? because, those were exactly what I was thinking of myself when I completed the level. And I think most of us thought the same way at that moment. I felt like no other challenge in this game can confront me.
All in all, dear friends, this game speaks to you. It knows how you are feeling, and acts accordingly to that. It knows that you feel like you are finally coming to an end while playing the summit, so it gives you a song which makes you lose yourself in the atmosphere. And same for the B and C sides of the level. Just when you think you are done, another challenge pops up, out of no where, almost three or four times harder than all the levels you have completed so far. Therefore teaches you a lesson, always expect harder obstacles in life, not everything is going to be easy. Never lose your hope on your dreams, keep climbing the mountain, REACH FOR THE SUMMIT, but never lower your guard against life, because once you start this journey there is NO MORE RUNNING and you have to face the hardest obstacles life has to offer to you.
And then the C-side shows up like "lol die 600 times idiot"
seriously tho that was a good read lol
I'm currently playing Summit d-side and I mean yeah I get very close to giving up usually. I'm only at 2000m and well I still have a long way to go. For context this map is significantly harder than the b-side and well no more running really does work well with this map... the amount of times you die is absurd. I really like your analysis though.
Amazing
summit c side is just "fuck you"
My headcanon after reading this is that why you cant skip sections easier is because badeline still doesn’t fully trust and/or like Madeline. She still realizes her mistakes yes, but she still has a sense of doubt. Anyways this is just a dumb theory, so uh goodbye.

don't you hate it when you know how to do a move, but you can't do it no matter what you do?
@@MafuyusZoloft ikr
@@plexquared1877 Here is the theory of neutral jumps and whatever those wall dashes are called.
Neutral Jumping: Hanging on a wall, let go, jump without holding any directions. Then go to the wall you just jumped off of. Don't grab onto wall. Repeat for infinite height.
Wall dashing: Be below a wall, but such that you can dash up to it and grab on. Dash up to it, then jump off of it, without grabbing on.
It's perplexing how motivational Celeste's songs are in a way that makes me want to keep trying, no matter how many times I die. :)
..I'm certain that's the actual feeling being expressed. Lena has fucking lived.
This song on a timed repeat has helped me concentrate not only through Summits but also with schoolwork, which is amazing
It is has a very repetitive backing, makes it good for that.
I love how, just like the regular Reach for the Summit, this starts simple and gets more and less tense progressively. Even without all the sections of the original, it's still really great. Especially the part that replaces 3000m's role at 3:43. If you're struggling when that comes on, which probably everyone would be, it's a huge motivator.
This is no doubt the song in the OST I've listened to the most.

HEY! DO YOU LIKE CHALLENGING PLATFORMING THAT REQUIRES SPEED, PRECISION, AND CLEVER USE OF THE GAME'S MECHANICS?!
YOU DO!?
FUCK YOU HERE ARE SOME SPINNING BLACK GLOBS THAT YOU HAVE WAIT AROUND FOR SO THAT YOU CAN LAND ON A PLATFORM!
The rest of the Celeste was amazing, but the Hotel and its sides were reserved for last because timing challenges suck.
Maybe you should learn to time things better, and if you dont like the hotel you definitley wont like the core
I'm not a fan of having to wait around for some spinning obstacle to get out of the way. The Hotel is one of the only places where you're required to slow down and wait so that you can time a jump while the REST OF THE GAME (excluding some rooms in the core) is just fast, precise, and clever platforming challenges. The Hotel's main gimmick isn't even original (look at the fire bars from Mario) and doesn't even incorporate the dash or wall climb/cling in any way. The other chapters have blue orbs that refill your DASH, red orbs that send you flying infinitely and refill your DASH, space blocks that you can DASH through, a flying feather you can DASH out of, a bumper that knocks you away and refills your DASH, charging blocks that you activate by DASHING into them, blocks that move to a set location when you DASH, almost everything in the rest of the game uses the dash in a way that allows you to keep moving which results in fluid, fast, and fun movement. That brings us back to the Hotel where optimal movement consists of go-wait-go-wait-go-wait-etc and the dash is only used to dash past obstacles (the thing that you use it for the entire game) and to stomp some buttons to clean up a part of the level. The dash can be used to fix the timing of a mistimed jump IF the dash wasn't required to make the jump. Overall, the timing challenges of the Hotel aren't exactly difficult, they're tedious and annoying since it creates a choppy flow of gameplay of constant stopping and starting.
TL:DR: Hotel: Slow and annoying. Rest of Celeste: Fast and Fun
I don't think I would like this game nearly as much if it weren't for the amazing soundtrack. The music and the gameplay come together in an amazing way that produces such a wonderful experience.
this level was actually evil

After much reflection over the years those are my requires and if met I will try infinity hard...
I dont believe in giving 150% or whatever in the typical sense. I believe we can only give 100% safely.... So the answer to trying harder is giving up parts of yourself for better performance.
You can give up your eyes by not blinking, you can give up your hands by not stopping even if hurt, you can give up your emotions as they will only slow you down, you can give up your sanity by becoming obsessed.
This song help me reach beyond my 100% and now years later when I listen to it I faintly remember when I briefly gave up sanity to win.
Words cannot describe how underrated this song is. There are better songs, sure, there are even better B-side songs, but this is among my favorite tracks in the game, and for one reason.
Theming.
With the sole exceptions of the Farewell soundtrack and Say Goodbye, this is the last track you hear in the game during a typical playthrough. It plays on 7C, one of the most difficult levels in the entire game. It’s the final piece of music for your final challenge. And it fits. OH it fits.
It’s like it’s trying to tell you “It’s finally over… but you’re not done yet.”
coming here after beating the C side. 3 hours of this song and it's still a bop
This B-side was without a doubt the most painful out of them all and then near the end of it, it suddenly throws a new mechanic in your face, and then i collapsed and died.
What I love more about this one than the a side is that it has more of a calm Mello tune
If you beat summit C you truly are a legend and can achieve anything.
Chapter 9:
._.xd
I may have beat 7C, but I ain't going for chapter 9's golden strawberry.
Eh, it's really not that hard after you beat it once. Same goes for farewell.
This song, it's like the essence of Celeste. Arpeggios constantly rising, but never settling. A steady beat keeping you moving forward. Here and there the main theme kicks in to remind you of what your purpose here is. Every accomplishment worth celebrating but there's always a bigger mountain to climb. A steeper slope. A higher summit.
I've been playing Celeste for over 2 years now. Be it with intermittent breaks, but fairly consistently over the last year at least.
I've accomplished things not many have done in this game. I've conquered all 202 strawberries, including Farewell golden. I've earned a spot on the Hard List by completing one of the hardest Celeste maps.
Yet the summit is still not in sight. There's so many maps I haven't played. Grandmaster maps take me ages. I've not bothered with modded goldens or silvers. There's skillsets and gimmicks I'm not well versed in. And just because I've beaten the easiest of the hardest maps doesn't mean that the rest are a cakewalk by any standard.
But I keep pushing. Up and up and up and swimming against the current of skill decay, burnout, or just simply the thought of settling down or giving up.
I hope to reach the summit one day. It might take me another couple years, it might never happen as the top players get removed so far from the runners up, but I hope to one day stand at the edge of Celeste skill itself and look back and be able to say I did this. For myself. Because I can. Because this game is fucking awesome.
And if you're up for the challenge, I hope to see you there. Good luck, never stop climbing.

А трек,тоже один из моих любимых
Reaching and completing the B side of Summit was as amazing as completing the A side of Summit for the first time. This song is so freaking awesome, feels like it doubts that i'll make it. Completing the level while this is playing, is simply incredible.
i rlly like the slow build up
like reach for the sum-
wait... nvm
its just a different remix each time you hit a new height.
I climbed Scafell today, and you better believe this is what I listened to
what the fuck is scafell
edit; nvm i googled it
Real life is B Side. While games is Just Normal mode
Scafell Pike? That’s awesome! I personally wished I could climb that beast?
climb celeste next time
@@RichConnerGMN it’s a real place, Celeste Mountain, but it’s around 2km
its been months since I played this level but the music still makes me anxious
I have no clue how but I managed to ram my head so hard into this B-Side that i beat it before i beat 3B.
Omg literally same
This hits different after hearing Starfruit Supernova (PIllars of Creation Mix) from the Celeste Strawberry Jam mod
took me over 6 hours and nearly 2000 deaths to beat the C-Side. This music really made it enjoyable the whole way through :D
That's the big sad. But more time to listen to the music right?
onu question:how?
cant agree more, only it took me 3 days :0
I love the moods this song gives. On one hand, it feels desperate and melancholy, with a thin cord of hipe underlying it.
On the other, you get the feeling that the song is telling you "oh really? You thought THAT was hard?"
Finally it also gives the mood of DANCE DANCE BABY
I just realized that this is the same person that made pigstep and other Minecraft music
This Kuraine sure is great composer
Lena raine and kuraine should collab
This song will forever be associated with agony. It’s wonderfully done, both the soundtrack and the gameplay but holy crap.
This kept me sane during the last part of c-side... :D
I started to just use muscle memory and enjoy the background, after 20 minutes I remembered what I was doing and I didn't advance even once
it really wasn't that hard, sure you got sore fingers from all the attempts but it's not mentally debilitating
@AssherThom it is when you die so many times on one section over and over again
This music is the only thing keeping me sane doing the Summit D-Side.
Summit...D...Side ??!!! You are a mad man... I had 1k deaths on the B-side, and I'll try the C-side, sure, but I know I won't be able to do it.
You sure have a lot of dedication, congrats !
did you do it yet
Vaseline hopefully by now
yeah i completed 7d like a year ago lmao
there... is... a... D... side..?
Screw the last screen of this C-Side. 300 or more deaths on that.
Chris9392 700+ for me 💧
I was actually close to beating this room in like 50 tries but I accidentally dashed up instead of right at the last gap.
6 hours to beat, with 5 sesions.
7A: What you imagine climbing a mountain will be like.
7B: What it's actually like.
7C: what climbing mount everest is like
Finishing this was the proudest moment of my gaming career
Edit: I just finished the core b side and now that’s the proudest moment
Edit 2: I finished farewell, every c side, gotten every berry, got the golden berries for chapter 1 and 2, AND got the winged berry in chapter 1, I still don’t know which one is the best. But the best has to be the real proudest moment of my gaming career
Every time I hear this song, I feel determination filling my soul. Chapter 7 C-side... You are part of me now😤😌
Good luck. This is a hard one.
I couldn't remember what Summit B-side sounded like, but after clicking on this video, bad memories are resurfacing...
Weekend's here - let's f***ing go, Lena. Amazing tunes. Incredible game.
"Funny how we get attached to the struggle." NO TF I DON'T
I’m on summit c side right now
Pain
This track is what kept me going thru the wall dash bullshit... omg...
Definetely the tensest song in the game
Original Summit: Daniel
No More Running Remix: The cooler Daniel
Original is better IMO. This one is kinda repetitive, though it definetely fits well as a B-side track
@@TheDuckyDino It goes for a certain meditative mood rather than trying to cram in tons of other melodic/harmonic material and styles. The original was an incredibly ambitious track, rushing toward the end of the game and covering all the previous area tracks at the same time. But the B-side is a challenge that you take on because you want to, so this feels to me like the more quiet, steady determination and persistence of pushing past each room and checkpoint.
@@Nat_the_Chicken I guess that could explain why I like this so much.
@@djroscurro9859 I might like the A-side more as a track, but mostly because I like complexity in my music and I'm specifically interested in dynamic music. In terms of fitting their parts of the game, both do an incredible job.
