- This Incredible Strawberry Shortcake Poke Cake made from a boxed cake mix is a favorite! It will take you back to the 80s with its tye dye red and white color. It's incredibly delicious and easy to make! Go buy yourself some jello, boxed cake mix, and a few strawberries, and get cooking!
What You Need:
Boxed Cake Mix - I use a white cake mix
jello any flavor
Cool Whip
Strawberries

i was so happy to see this recipe pop up. my mom used to make this for us, back in the late 70's, early 80's. this was a 'treat' in our house, and my 2 sisters and i loved, loved, loved this. nostalgia on steroids here! ty.

I absolutely love "poke cakes" one of the many very good memories from my childhood. Vicky did you know you can also use pudding in place of the jello ? You would have to make your holes bigger my mom always used the handle of a wooden spoon then you mix up the pudding according to the directions on the box and pour it over the cake before it sets up. Then ice the cake with cool whip. It's also good & deliciously scrumptious !! Thank you once again for sharing this childhood memory and reminding me about it. I just made one Tuesday morning. It's my mom's favorite. We use a straw to make the holes. We've always just called it Jello cake.
