I was 3 or 4 when this came out, and it made me become obsessed with her! When I was about 5 my dad took me to her concert and put me on his shoulders in the front row, and I was singing all the words, and she shook my hand and said, "Hi, baby," into her microphone. I will NEVER forget that!

My dad was madly in love with her back then. We seen her in concert in 1991 at the county fair, the day she was there was the same day the music video "He hurt me bad, in a real good way" came out, she signed autographs after the show, when we got to her she had to leave to do another show, so we never got her autograph, dad was heartbroken, but my mom was happy. Lol!! She was jealous of Patty Loveless. Lol!!
Hers is one of those exceptionally rare voices that has improved with throat cancer and age. Compare the vocals on her earliest records with those on the later ones and the improvement is massive.

Saw Patty and her band at a small club in Myrtle Beach, SC back in the 90's. She IS a real nice woman and this is what country music is all about. She (and Dolly Parton) and a few others form this part of the good ole U.S.A. (mid South) really do a great show and make our world a little better place! And the show she put on was absolutely amazing! Especially the woman from WV who played the violin...Excellent!

Oh my goodness!! I had a toxic relationship in the early 90's and this song was on the radio waves. It became my anthem! After 7 years of on again off again misery, I finally put him down the road for the final time. Thank you ma'am, I'm still listening and loving this song in 2023.
