Sad part is many Konkani speaking families in Mumbai and other parts have resorted to adopting local language and future generations will not know about Konkani
I don't agree with you. What's wrong to adopt the local language ? Even after migrating to Mumbai from Mangalore, where besides Mangalore Fertilizer and Mangalore Rifinery there is nothing to earn a decent living. It's okay for you to still speak Tullu among yourself in Mumbai, a borrowed Dialect from the Hindus and Muslims ? Have you ever heard a Hindu or Muslim speak Konkani at home? They will speak only Tullu or Kannada a official state language, but you Christians shamelessly speak Tullu.
Thanks for Excellent information. Konkani is one of the languages on the 500 rupee note. Konkani has no script of its own often written using Kannada script or Devanagari script.
Though some of the information given towards the end is misleading and incorrect, I must congratulate you for this beautiful video in kudubi dialect. Melvyn Rodrigues

My Parents migrated to Mumbai in 1947 from Mangalore. I'm a second generation Mumbai Born Mangalorean. We do speak Konkani at home. There is nothing wrong if those who migrated to Mumbai to earn a living and made it a second Home and adopted the local language. But, Can anyone explain to me, why Christians in Mangalore still speak Tullu among themselves at home particularly when they have visitors from either Bombay or Goa ? It's understandable to converse with your non Christian neighbors in Tullu a Dialect or in the Market place. When the Hindus and Muslims in Mangalore speak Tullu among themselves at home , they don't even speak in Konkani to their Christians Neighbors. So, why do Christians in Mangalore speak shamelessly this Dialect at Home ? In Goa, they all speak a common language/ Dialect known as Konkani, acsent may differ, but the bottom line is, they all speak Konkani. Unlike my relatives in Mangalore who utter Tullu among themselves at home. When we grew up, we, made it sure our Parents do not utter Tullu at home even among our visiting Uncles or Aunts. It was okay if they spoke to our Shetty neighbors. We used to try to teach them to speak a few words in Konkani, but, they never tried or wanted. They put their foot down and spoke only Tullu. We sternly told our parents to get lost in Mangalore if, they want to speak tullu or force it upon us ! So, Can anyone Christians in Mangalore explain, why this trend ?
@@urbandsouza7279 For your kind information. Konkani is not a language. It is a Dialect like Tullu and doesn't have it's own script, hence it uses Kannada script as a means of communication. Moreover Tullu is spoken by all locals in Mangalore till the outskirts of Udupi irrespective of caste or creed as a means of communication besides Kannada the official State language.
