I didn't realize Dale Simmons had passed until I saw dedication...thanks Stephen. Dale I am sure had a super collection of Jabos and other factory marbles of that area.
Hi Donald , I hope all is well. We did document some of his Jabos and Champions before he passed. He had an outrageous collection of them ! I need to get that stuff edited and shared.
I was hoping to see a pic of my favorite Jackson. I did... The same marble and the only one in the whole video. It can be seen at the 5:05 mark. You are pointing out the black and white swirls and off to the right side sits a transparent green, red, and orange marble. I see it about 5 or 6 times during the video. I have this marble. I have to say it, while hard to describe, is the most interesting marble I've ever seen. The blobs of color are very distinct with very little color blending, but no hard lines of separation between colors. The colors look like little blobs of ink floating in the... I think an amber base? It is simply marbleous. Another rare Jackson I own has a transparent teal base with white ribbons touched with a little bit of the purple color. I did not see one of these. Teal with white is a common color combination among manufacturers, but the touch of purple makes the marble's color combo unique. I've seen one picture of this marble type, and it was IDed as a Jackson. It might have been the WV marble club's website... I'm not sure.
Ah yep I remember looking at the 5:05 marbles, very amoeba like. I’m not familiar with the teal one but it sounds awesome, I’m sure there were other random ones we left out. Thanks for the descriptions.
I think I just found a couple Jackson marbles thanks to this info! I have an Orange/White swirl that shows the more thinks and "lazy" swirling of Jackson, and a translucent green base with a wire pull style white that's similar to the ones seen in bulk in the collections in this video!
Ok, 51 here. I just saw my first video of yours today (this is number 2). I have been giddy all day wondering if any of my marbles got stored or still exist (negative on the mental ones, gone years ago!). I will have to dig through storage I guess. My wife was a glass blower in a previous life and I might have to think about a small run for my bag! LOL, well I can dream. Thanks for the memories and God bless!
I inherited my father's marble collection from when he was a boy. Some of them were from his dad who was born in 1868, my dad was born in 1926 so they're all very old. They've been packed away until recently. I see quite a few in your videos that look very similiar to many of them. I had no idea they were so collectible.
Thank you for your knowledge I've loved marbles for 57 years just now learning about the history thanks to Mike Briggs for sending me to you thank you for sharing what a wonderful adventure this has turned out for me😊
Im in the south, being east coast helps, not only because same coast as most companies were located but also all the railways here. It wasn't very hard for most of the "bigger" companies to get their products down to us. Ive been able to find alot of cool marbles just in thrift stores, most notable being a Christensen Agate "Brick" marble in a jar find. sadly its only one half of the original but still a stunning find for me. The name of the game here is to find some common vintage marbles, sell them, and use that money to get the more rare marbles, like Ravenswoods
As I kid I always ordered marbles from Mexico they had the craziest styles here in the us always the same kind cat eyes Bloody Mary 😮😢 I don’t remember the names but I loved marbles this brings back memories
The differences are so hard to see unless you have multiples of each company, and this video has been really helpful even though ive been trying to collect Alox Mfg marbles...seeing the three W.V. companies together was absolutely great, as Alox, Cairo and Jackson have some very, very similar styles.....i had heard alox had been buying bulk marbles from a W.V. company early on, then eventually ended up buying that companies marble machines, and produced alox marbles in st louis after that......wonder which company they were dealing with/bought out....???..Thanks for another informative and interesting video......much love, many props
Well said Scooba on the similar styles in West Virginia. I have some Alox net bags with both Marble Kings and Vitros in them . I’m not sure who else they were buying from…
Well gosh darn lol another manufacturer Im not familiar with .... guess I'll be busy for next few weeks sorting thru my marbles lol. Thanks for a very informative episode.

Really Nice collection!! I’ve got a couple (from the 60’s) probably not worth much but they are pretty. One is orange& yellow. Also have a few clay marbles that daddy said were made by Indians. Cool video ✌️
Just about all the marble companies are difficult to find here in California, except for maybe some overpriced Imperial cats eyes. Thank you for another great video, Stephen! Can't wait for the next one.
Can't believe you found one just laying out like that, amazing. Excellent video Stephen. Is there any chance there will be another big dig like the heaton dig in the future?
Thank you Mike! I am editing the first of a few Champion videos right now, focusing on ‘80’s 90’s Champions. It should be ready to upload in a couple of weeks. I hope it serves as a good introduction to Champion for you !

You talk about marbles that aren't even mentioned in the marble ID book by Robert Block. It's amazing how many different companies there are. Jackson's look just like other marbles. Since watching your videos I'm now more confused than ever about the subject. I'm a dump digger and have found 1000s so I guess I will never be able to ID them.
Hi! I am in no way a marble expert. I’ve watched a few marble-making videos because I find the subject interesting. One thing that I noticed is that the Artisan can, and will add “this or that” to change the color, or give it a stripe etc, but the real control in my opinion, is the heating process, which of course is regulated. One can control the heat, but it cannot control how the heat is going to affect the “additive”. It’s like bubbles in a glass of water, for example, they look the same, in the same source, but if one could isolate EACH bubble, would each bubble be an identical twin? Thankfully, marble-making companies are able to isolate those marbles and marvel at the beauty of a hard substance molded by heat etc. : )
Did Jackson make UV reactive (glow) black & white swirl opaque marbles, or did they not glow? I have 4 black & white swirl opaque that are UV reactive (glow) and 4 that are not, so I'm trying to decipher which ones might be Jackson vs. Cairo Novelty. I'd appreciate your input.😊
Ho Ashley, yes many of them will glow: both companies were getting their raw materials from the same glass source. The best way to tell them apart is by their swirl patterns. Jackson usually had thicker swirls.Often times it’s impossible to know for sure.
@stephenbahrmarbles Thank you, sir, for the info. I'm curious if there's a site or forum where I can submit a few photos of my 4 UV reactive (glow) black & white swirl marbles and 4 non-glow black & white swirl opaque marbles with a backlit purple hue to assist me with identification? If so, please do let me know, as I would appreciate the additional help.😊
