Great video! Lust, as well as every other sin that we as believers can’t get over, is an issue of the heart. Our hearts are idolatrous and we desire to please ourselves. I have found so much freedom over my sin, through a book called, “Gospel Treason” by Brad Bigney. I had never looked at sin as an idol that’s lurking at the root of our hearts until this book. I was struggling with a lot of anger towards somebody that had hurt me for many years. I didn’t realize that every time I got mad at this person and lashed out in anger, it was because I was idolizing my own comfort and peace. I was willing to sin an order to get what I wanted. What I wanted was a peaceful, joyful, and satisfying relationship. Those are not bad things to want, but when we put it above the Lord and we’re willing to sin in order to get it, it becomes a sinful desire. We must get to the root of the problem in order to overcome sin. Don’t get me wrong, we won’t be sinless in this world, because we are in an unredeemed flesh. But we can overcome our sin. The sin of lust, which many of us have struggled with, can be rooted in self-gratification, pleasure, finding satisfaction, not feeling loved, etc. we must repent and replace the lies with the truth. Only Jesus Christ is our whole satisfaction. He is the one who loves us completely and perfectly. We are his children and nothing in this world will satisfy us other than him and his word. He is our perfect, loving Father who sees us and cares for us. Sin leaves us feeling ashamed and that’s where Satan wants us. I’ve experienced an even deeper freedom over my sin by learning to kill the idols in my heart. Your identity needs to be in Jesus Christ. You are not defined by your sin but by whom Jesus is in your life. God defines us as his children, loved and purchased by him. We can have freedom over our sin when we learn to kill our sin and submit our lives to the one who made us free. Brad Bigney, in his book says, “so how do you know where and what you worship? It’s easy. You simply follow the trail of your time, your affection, your energy, your money, and your allegiance. At the end of the trail you’ll find a throne, and whatever, or whomever, is on the throne is what’s of highest value to you.” (Gospel Treason, pg 117). I pray this is a blessing to whoever is reading this and that you would find freedom over your sin.
I agree. I deleted my social media accounts about a year or two ago. I don't even remember. I've lost count. It has blessed me tremendously. It didn't instantly cure everything. But it helped me think and see more clearly the areas of my life that needed my attention and effort
To those struggling with lust. The verse resist the devil and he will flee from you..really works. The first month is hard. The second month even harder. After that it it rarely will cross your mind and when it does..your spirit will easily be able to help you resist the temptation. It’s two years for me September of 2024. The glory is all Gods. I couldn’t have done it without him.
October 10h, 2024. I have just deleted Instagram from my phone (never had TikTok), leaving only RUclips, going back to my old habit of daily reading. Wish me luck guys
I just finished watching ‘This Is Church?’ I am so glad I happened to go across your channel! You answered my questions with Bible supportion! Thank you a much, thank God for this channel! May God bless you & your channel to bless others and bring them closer to Him.
I realized the way we scroll through our phones, it isn't natural. And the fact each 30 second video on tik tok may be a different subject, its just isn't enough time to process information, so now our attention span is shot.
Love this channel! Thank you for sharing God's word on this platform. I haven't had social media in almost 3 years and I promise it is the best decision one could make. ❤
I totally agree I deleted instagram and felt SOOOOO much lighter ! It was crazy like a burden was off me. It helped me be closer with God and not care about worldly opinions.
Social Media was since I was in elementary school my way out of everything. My parents were abusive, school was not great to put it nicely, I had almost no friends. I don’t think I would have survived without social media. It was like I built my own world online. But now I’m not in school anymore (I’m taking a gap year), I live at my big sisters place and from the outside everything seems better so I’m trying to heal, but rather than going healing processes I’m still in social media because it’s way easier than confronting my own demons. My own little online world feels just way safer than the reality. I could heal way faster and better if I would just log off, but it’s just so hard for me to come out of my hiding spot. I hope I can get free at some point with Gods help. Prayers are appreciated. ❤ (Sorry for my bad english)
❤❤❤❤❤ this is so true. I started reading my Bible when I first wake up and it has been my favorite thing now. The Bible says to renew your mind. Reading your Bible renews the mind. Also I gave up secular music and movies/tv. Listening to worship music and listening to Christian content. I stay off Facebook. TikTok is great because there are live Bible studies you can watch. And I only follow Christian creators. My life is changed 💯💯❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Did you find WISDOM yet? ....your comment pulls on my heart strings, in the way God designed our heart to be pulled! Please MARK THE MONTH (or even the day) you started that. Then go read Psalm 90:12. I prefer NKJV and I pray you are inspired to do what His Word says to do! 💜✝️💜 I did, and it's a continual inspiration to me to keep walking God's Word every single day. What are you reading right now?
@@fancy8763 Like Song of Songs? Be clear on that, Secular as in it's against God or it just exists as nutural, like Song of Songs, a love poem that is sung, and many other songs, especially ones without lyrics and it's just music.
I'm a pastor and also have a Christian band - how do we reach people? You have to go where the sinners are. I think not scrolling and living on social media is a great message - but Jesus didn't go where the righteous were, he went to where the sinners were because they need it most. That's the point of social media, to help the lost question their choices and usher in a change.
That’s what I use social media and my gift of photography for. When I started speaking about God I noticed the algo turned on me but I didn’t stop. Today, I still share my gift to glorify him. Yes, you can use social media for bad but I want it to leave my testimony to possibly millions. If God wills it. I think in the end, God knows your heart. I have seen the wicked prosper by posting degenerate things but I will not. Keep going brother.
Very interesting God still considers Sinners the same as his own people in fact he says Sinners are better and I can agree with him through experience you're right I can't stop but he can make me the Bible is an instruction for your first life it's not being pinned against you sure you can sin and will still go to heaven no matter what sin you do if you understand what God wants you to understand you will be free and you should credit Sinners for showing you how to live
I also deleted my social media. It had me in chains. Especially lust of the eyes. But I felt God telling me to get rid of all of it. Now all I do is watch RUclips videos. Decent RUclips videos that is 😂 But for real though, I now have self control. That old stuff is disgusting to me now. I have friends who still look at it that I pray would stop one day.
That is a great question. Because is a platform that accommodates long-form video (as opposed to TikTok), it is a great place to learn and grow. It has been a benefit to my life over the years, which is why I decided to start my own channel! Not many other content platforms always for this kind of education.
I am also in college, this is the only “social” platform I use. It sounds like we don’t have the same major but I can give you a few ideas as to how you can find balance between devotion to the Lord and social media usage. If you have an iPhone, I would highly recommend using screen time features to limit the use of those apps. Although I dont use social media, it is quite helpful with other apps. Only catch here is that you have to be disciplined enough to not override the screen time. The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:31, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” The best way to make sure something doesn’t turn into an idol is to put God at the center of it, in this case perhaps you can post Bible verses everyday (just an example). If you find that you are unable to center God at something, you’re probably better off without it. Last idea I have is… pray!! Seriously, asking God for wisdom with these kinds of things helps in so many ways. What better person to turn to than the one who knows all things? “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” Jeremiah 33:3. Hopefully this helps you out, but always seek God’s guidance so that you go in the direction He wants you to go in. His will for us is better than anything we could ever imagine. God bless you, and may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you 🙏🏻
trade your smart phone in for a flip phone, put limits on your home computers with the cold turkey app, and pick a new major that is less useless and actually contributes to society
