    My dad was a shrimper for years when I was just a baby. I remember growing watching him re tie shrimp nets. That’s been over 50 years ago. It’s a dying art. Glad to see someone still does it. Love your channel by the way.

    Just found your channel. Awesome. I am in my sixties now. I used to knit nets with my grandad when I was a boy and fished them with him. It was so cool to see the process again. I had forgotten some of the steps. Thanks again. Be blessed.

    If you gave a class on how to make your own netting, I would come to it, just tell me what I need to bring and I will do it. I live in West central Louisiana and would travel to you, all you have to do is say the word. I would love to make a video with you and learn hands on and start making my own nets. Great video, I am now a new subscriber. God bless and see you on the next one.

      That's right, but not sure I'd found anything exactly 8 squares of the wire. 8 squares made it easy doing 40 mesh because of 8 dividing into 40 it worked out perfectly

  • @user-of4ki3vd8e
    @user-of4ki3vd8e 3 месяца назад +1

    i am rewatching this. While I have and fish hoopnets I want to build a couple wire nets. I am going to order the webbing. How many mesh long is your barrel? I will use cattle panel to make mine and want to add 2 extra squares like you did on the other one. I also want to make them about 28 or 30 inches in diameter. These will be my play nets when I don't feel like running 8 or 10 hoopnets. Mainly I fish during the winter I want these so I can throw them out in the spring and summer and run them every two to three days just for the heck of it. Me and my buddy are going to jonesville in a month and pick up a couple cases of block bait. P.S. Thanks for the tip on the roofing tar like idiots we always bought their over priced net dip thinking it was better.

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  3 месяца назад

      Sounds like a plan, except personally I don't see much benefits from going over size on wire nets. I think your only gonna catch as many as the bait you supply on blues and channels. 20in like this one is a bigger wire net. Those 18s take two people to get in sometimes. On the length I believe it was 30 full mesh long. The part 2 video has that information in it. Good luck with it!!

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  10 месяцев назад +1

      Oh, Sorry. It's 8. 8 is a dividend of 40, so it makes it easy to calculate in how many times between each square. 5 mesh per square with 40 mesh. If use 8 squares even if using concrete wire because of this

      I'm hand knitting the barrel for this net. Got about 8 rounds left to complete it and I'll finish up this video. We've just been so busy ending hunting season and starting our net fishing till I have not had time to finish the part 2. Hoping to finish it and get it out in the next 2-3 weeks

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  5 месяцев назад +1

      Oh, maybe that didn't answer the question. Yes if you want it to catch well. The first throat is a guide throat. It makes the fish feel comfortable going in a hole, and is big enough not to spook them. Once in that far they either gain enough confidence or bump that front throat if they turn around, then possibly spook and go through the second catch throat. Some call it a tickler throat. For sure without it a lot of fish would just turn and go out

I have a precious dog in the family that is blind and was a rescue from a welder that just didn't care. @@godscountryhuntingfishing1638 I or nor other commenter is worth getting worked up over. Thanks for the kind reply and I did truly not mean it as an attack nor did I leave the channel. I suspected it was oversight rather than indifference.
      You actually remind me of myself 50 years ago. I grew up on the TX/LA state line at the coast and built my own hoop nets to use across the river in La.. I still have one hanging on the wall of my place at Whitney. I mainly leave it hanging just to worry/amuse the Game Wardens and clients that visit my boat barn occasionally. They have been illegal here for most of my life.
      When I hung my first video 13 years ago my first negative comment was about wearing black socks with shorts and it was a crappie cleaning video. I did not respond to it but it has been a great reference for my responses to many things in life way beyond internet interactions. I was really surprised at how many of my very few followers responded in my behalf.

      @ppinthewoods3430 Phill, thanks for not leaving the channel. Although we have fun, we put a lot of hard work, time, and money into this channel just to hope that soon we even break even. The true reward for us is knowing we helped someone out at some point. We're Building, not tearing down, and no matter the comments, we always reply. It will get harder to do, the bigger we grow. That said, we read every one. Most channels are in it to win it, but we're just doing the things we love to do and introducing some to it. If I remind you of you 50 years ago that would put you at about 96 years of age, cause I'm 46. Either way, glad you got to experience the net fishing. I just don't know enough about Texas waters to justify speaking as to how they manage, but glad to have you Texas viewers. Hopefully our content is enough mix that Texans can also get out and enjoy some of the stuff we do LEGALLY!!! God bless

I'm Just a young 73 right now, but at 23 I was sporting a beard much like yours and building hoop nets, raising baby gators to sell to the local dime store, building wooden boats and growing an insufferable fetish for small boats. I am part way through liquidating my already reduced stable of 9 Hobie kayaks and several first issue aluminum boats and canoes as well as my old stable of GoPros etc. from my first kayak fishing channel. .
      I know all too well how much work goes into producing a well thought out and edited video. I killed most of my channels sometime ago after a diagnosis that changed life for a bit. I will be opening up my main channel again later this summer and am looking forward to doing a few more with a new perspective.
      The new direction of my channels will be more focused on "why" rather than "how". The alleged overall purpose will be "survival from a woman's viewpoint". I will be getting a lot of hate from dudes thinking they know the real me.

If you have any care in the world about how another man fishes, you really got no idea how many fish in that water. Livescope has brought what we thought all along to life. I get it in small reservoirs, but in big body's of water like we fish, it's impossible to catch them all out. These same water been fished by commercial fishermen for 100 years and they still there.
