another great Regis moment, the reaction from Regis and Kathie Lee when they see DL walking on - DL just adored Regis, DL had Regis on his show many times and you could see the affection he showed him. love the LIVE behind the scenes shots of the set, crew, audience ! ! ! ! !
Letterman had incredible charisma and you could see Kathie Lee was kind of taken aback by it. Letterman was great at coming into a situation, doing his thing and getting out.
I like how Dave brings attention to the continuity errors with the glasses, and the 15 seconds that it took him to get from Regis' set back to his own. He might as well have said, "it's so obvious that we pre-taped this bit." 😆
"When they told me my first guest after coming back (from heart surgery) was Regis Philbin, I said, 'I'd rather have the surgery again!'" -- David Letterman, 1/14/2000
Dave was so concerned about 'continuity' with his wearing glasses that he forgot that the BAGS didn't match! :) The bag he left NBC with was tall, the bag he presented to Regis and Kathie Lee was wide!
I heard Letterman was a stickler about audio quality on his shows, and truly, the sound was better when Dave’s producers mic’d him walking in on Regis compared to the sound of Dave on Regis’ microphones
Don, any chance of you putting up the Blue Rodeo clip from the episode? They're a Canadian band. Loved their stuff. Didn't know they were ever on Letterman. Edit; Just figured out Regis died. Bummer. He was a cool dude.
That was truly fun times two.. I would like to have seen Manon Rheaume from that day Wow, she is still managing a girls league in Canada. Any way to post that? Also Mitch Mitchel from the Experience was on and I missed him.
1. VHS or Beta tape from various VCRs to DVD burner. Finalize. 2. Convert DVD-R to .mp4 on desktop computer. 3. ID file and place in appropriate folder.
. Wow......don't know that I've ever seen Regis so (relatively) subdued......usually he was CONSTANTLY yacking (not meant as a dig, just an observation). Maybe it was because he really was (as Kathie Lee also seems to be here) caught so off-guard, he didn't really know what to say or do.... That said, interesting to see how Dave and Regis's (on-air, anyway) relationship "blossomed" over the years, and how these two genuinely seemed to like being together...... .
do you have the clip where celebrities welcome Dave back from his heart bypass surgery, and David Duchovny, in his Agent Mulder office, calls Regis a "caffeinated little monkey," and they switch over to Regis on his morning show set firing right back at Duchovny?
now that I'm thinking/remembering it, Regis was probably on his "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" show set instead, it's been a long time since that was on, 20 year old memory if that was in 2000
Brings back memories of the electricity in the Letterman era and what good pals Dave & Regis were. Thanks again Don.
Imagine being the guy in the audience. One time David Letterman gave me a kiss on the cheek and a 16 pound roast.
I love that you got both versions.
There is a great talk show going on in heaven right now and Regis is the host. May the GOAT of morning television rest in peace.
Thank you so much for this. Those were the days, my friend, I thought they’d never end.

Kathie Lee filled in for him on some of those nights. She was really good too!
Then cue guitar riff
I gave a thumbs up less than one minute in because, you know... Dave.
RIP Regis. What a sweet, funny and stand up guy you were.
Dave and Regis were hilarious together. Rest in peace, Reg
Great segment for both shows. Nice that you were able to upload the R & KL footage, too. RIP Regis.
Thanks for posting these.. RIP Regis.
They all had such a great sense of humour. KLG didn’t take herself so seriously and laughed at the “Doby” joke about her son kody.
This is peak David Letterman.
I dug out my old VHS tapes during quarantine and had a few "mixed tapes" of various shows recorded off TV - and this entire episode was one of them!
Put it online!😊👏
Please!
I bet David is as sad as a lot of us are tonight. You could tell he and Regis had a genuine fondness for one another.
This was great! Hillarious! Thanks for sharing.
I hope you have more to come. These are making the mourning go by easier. #RIPRegis
Having gone nonstop the moment the announcement was made early today, I’m spent for now. Best not to ask for more, more, more right now.
Don Giller Alrighty.
Thank you, Don, for all the work you put in sharing these videos!
Man you can tell David had the energy back in the day...lolz
I always loved when Letterman did things like this!
Letterman was a lot of fun.
Since Letterman does his show at 5:30 PM and Regis did his show at 9 AM....
David inviting Regis on his show was always good entertainment
Dave was incredibly charismatic in these clips.
Dave was so concerned about 'continuity' with his wearing glasses that he forgot that the BAGS didn't match! :) The bag he left NBC with was tall, the bag he presented to Regis and Kathie Lee was wide!
Great catch sir.
He wasn't concerned with continuity. That was the joke.
First thing I think of with Regis as a millennial is from how I met your mother when they paint him as a scary gangster, which was hilarious.
I loved the old Letterman Show on NBC
Regis will always be Notre Dame fan God speed to Regis.
RIP REGIS....YOU WERE ALWAYS THERE
And Regis dresses very well with shoes and a good tie. We will see the young and funny Regis on RUclips for years to come RIP.
You always upload great classic stuff man and rip regis
Your son Dobie. Lol! Thanks for the Regis vids 🥂
gates69 I think he said Dopey.
Shawn McLaughlin He says Dobie.
gates69 Sounds like you are right. I prefer dopey, though!😉
Letterman needs to organize tribute for regis, hes like 100+ times guest on letterman show
This is awesome! RIP Regis ❤️
The big man and reg were always great together
as usual, Don, you're the man
Tv is not what it used to be
Nope.. it sure is not!
You ain’t kidding
And Director Hal Gurnee in the background at 8:10
R.I.P. Regis.
Lmao at "Doby".
I thought Regis would live forever.
A hundred years from now people will watch him with Kathy Lee on youtube.
RIP Regis
I REMEMBER THIS ❤️😆😆❤️🤣
I heard Letterman was a stickler about audio quality on his shows, and truly, the sound was better when Dave’s producers mic’d him walking in on Regis compared to the sound of Dave on Regis’ microphones
Wish Dave would come back and save late night TV.
The good old fun days
Dave is the best...
Regis isn't gone, his soul is trapped forever in a continuous RUclips loop.
Need the clip from Late Show when Kathie Lee sings Happy Birthday to Dave...
Not uploaded on this channel.
The 🐐

In time. After going nonstop all day and night preparing Regis/Dave uploads, not the best time to ask for more, more, more.

GOD GIVE US BACK REGIS PHILBIN AND WILL GIVE U STEPHANIE HOLLMAN !!!
Hey Don what's you setup like for digitising these old tapes
1. VHS or Beta tape from various VCRs to DVD burner. Finalize.
2. Convert DVD-R to .mp4 on desktop computer.
3. ID file and place in appropriate folder.

let's be honest....Kathie Lee was a BABE back in the day.
Obnoxious, phoney and arrogant, but hot.
3:49 your son doopy😂😂😅😅
Katie Lee seems to be in shock of seeing a TV star? She never meet him before?

I remember when he had the Doctors on. He said, "These are the Doctors that saved my life'! And everyone cheered!
found it! ruclips.net/video/JH7r9-AmH9k/видео.html
JMelissaMc the part I remember starts around 1:40 ruclips.net/video/JH7r9-AmH9k/видео.html
Never cared for Letterman.
