The presentation was OUTSTANDING. I've seen a lot of videos on this subject but yours was the most comprehensive. You provided tons of information and it was presented in a way where it didn't feel crammed into the allotted time.
I recently located the slave owner of my 3X great-grandparents. I really got lucky because they kept the slave owner's name who lived nearby. He died before the war ended and my peeps were listed on his inventory. Other lines haven't been so easy. I'm looking forward to exploring some of the resources you provided. Just when you thought there was no where else to look. And you were so right - slavery era research is not for the faint of heart. Thanks for the wonderful teaching tools!

this is a great resource! i've been searching family history on and off about 6 years, getting nowhere. i've been at it again, and decided to find something on YT that may help, and found you. i think this video is a sign of help BECAUSE ... there was a mention of Tobin, Walker and now I am paused on the page about ArchiveGrid, where there is a name Hammond mentioned; all of these mentioned names are part of my family too; so yup, a sign of help! my last name is Hammonds, but it'd be Blue if my father had his father's last name.
ok, back to watching your video! :)

This is super helpful! My family tree starts in Bienville Parish with ancestors arriving from South Carolina. Thanks for giving me the push I need to continue searching!

Great information. Really helpful. I cringed though, every time I heard the words slave and slave owners. I’d suggest the much preferred enslaved and enslaver, for future presentations.
