One of the best songs to come out in recent years. Thanks for reacting. The line that gets me is "My mind likes to talk about everything I'm not, and even worse everything I am.".. Chilling.
morgan wade is one of my absolutely favorite artists. her voice just draws me in... her life story, does the same. and yes this sing is about her life. love Morgan and her songs. please do more from the vinyl sessions... Through your Eyes, Take me Away, Wilder Days, Left Me Behind, are all great songs
Thanks Don for honoring my request. This was based on Morgan's own experience. I chose the Our Vynl session because about a year and a half ago I first heard Morgan on your channel from this session doing "Through Their Eyes" I really liked it and listened to the whole session and all 4 songs she did were really good but this one got me because of the raw realness of it. Funny thing I was relatively new to the channel then and noticed a Mr. David Emailed in the comments saying he had heard Morgan really wanted to go 'Nashville'. Well David won the Pony because 3 months later Morgan signed with a big label (Sony/Nasville). The resulting album ruined Morgan IMHO. Her two greatest strengths her lyrics and pain in her voice were buried in the mix so I wanted this one so you could hear and feel the rawness and intensity. Any way thanks again for the reaction. Also for the rating, which surprised me, not by the number but I thought you may not rate this one considering the subject matter.---#UTRCM
@mikebarnett9012 Fantastic post and recap of Morgan on the channel and her journey to Nashville. I figured I was okay giving this one a rating since she wanted this story to be heard and that I wasn't sure who it was about. It was generic enough (just barely, since it was such a personal account of someone's feelings and life) that I was good with it.
I remember it very well because this was my first interaction w/David. After she signed his credibility and reliability were totally sealed in my mind.---#UTRCM
Thanks so much Mike for this outstanding request. I agree completely with your comments below. Morgan is one of the few current artists that really has that something extra - what a great performance. Thanks Don for the terrific reaction and the rating!
@Terrywood glad you appreciated the video, not really the type that you necessarily enjoy but it can be appreciated. Funny thing the line that Don pointed out is the one that drew me to this song. Being from Ga. in Southeastern U.S. we've had a small situation within my family that could have been resolved with a little talk but nobody wanted to talk about it and it turned into a much more serious situation that was much more difficult to resolve. Thanks again for watching and commenting as it appears Eve in the comment section no one wants to talk about it.---#UTRCM
Yes, it's her story. Been following her closely since "Wilder Days" first came out. Had the chance to see her live way up close to the stage at the Pony (Stone Pony), great night.
This is the best song I've heard since Cover Me Up by Isbell. The lyrics fit as tight as any and the anguish feels so real. The drawly voice from a soprano just makes it so much more intense. I think in the last week since I first heard it, I must have found a dozen different versions, everyone perfect. Bottom line, you can't write a better song. The fact that she is a superlative believable performer just makes thing better. Can't wait till she comes to NY.
