- The X5 was the car that first put the S in SUV, and 20 years on, many more have followed suit. This fourth-generation BMW X5, however, has grown larger and more luxurious, so could it really still be as good to drive as the ones that went before it. Gavin D'Souza couldn't wait to find out; so much so that he hung around after the car's launch and drove the car straight off the show floor!

99% of us watching these reviews may never be able to buy these ultra luxury SUVs (it may cost freaking 1crore on road), but still we like watching these beauties nonetheless. :) great work gavin , as usual.

Most of the salaries people can actually buy these luxury cars if you start saving in your early 20s into mutual funds, real estate etc. And then save consistently for the next 25-30 years and let compound interest do it's magic so you can buy these when you retire.

It definitely betters it's former generation to say the least thanks to BMW's new design language, even better use of leather and plastics all around the car and finally, BMW's driving mannerisms which seem to be improving with every car and every iteration. The X5 was always a mature looking SUV ticking all the right boxes well but this car's refinement levels blew me away. It's hard to tell it's a diesel powered car and that is what will prod buyers towards its purchase. The body roll which is surprisingly well contained as compared to its predecessor despite being such a large and heavy car stands out from the former model and also in the competition. The tonne of features which it comes with is also exceptional but frankly speaking, no buyers would be able to make the most of the tech and gismos considering it will be perceived as a chauffeur driven car. The Audi Q7 has always been a benchmark in this segment with its virtual cockpit and unparalleled levels of comfort which is the most sought after factor when spending close to a crore. Sure BMW has taken the game to a whole new level but the formidable rivals are also too niche offerings in the segment and so it would be hard for BMW to please its customers. Until the X7 doesn't roll out, I think the Q7 or even the sidelined GLS have a lot going for them. All the best to BMW though.

If there's one brand that's late to the party in every segment... it's Audi. I wonder when they'll launch a proper competitor to the GLS, X7 and XC90. BMW X5's Audi counterpart is the Q7. Q7 was initially meant to rival the X5 but now with the new Volvo XC90, GLS and X7 the 7 seater game has changed and Audi is way behind.

Most of the owners who buy these cars are chauffeur driven and still I'm surprising why these cars do not offer a reclining rear seats. I think the centre tunnel is reduced in the new X5.

BMW: Sure! Do you want a car attached with that?
Customers: Umm...I'm not sure.....Alright! Just slap it on.
Seriously though, that grille is just growing bigger and bigger.
then you have not seen the grill of audi or mercedes 😂
Beauty it is
Its because of the 3 litre v6 twin turbos inside. It is hard to overcome Indian temperatures in summer. Eventhough the grille is bigger for all countries it is there for good engine temps.

As far as the comfort is concerned... even XC60 can match this car... don't you think? It may not have the presence of the X5 but the features.... it's pretty closely matched up. It even has air-suspension on all 4 corners as well. My money goes to the XC60. Even though its smaller and no way near as fast as this car.
Air suspension is not a good idea its not very reliable and costs a fortune to fix when it goes bad

BMW X5 is the best in all aspect and the leader...People might buy Mercedes,Audi just to be different..and some people will buy Range Rover Velar, Sport to be different and showing off..
I actually don't like the big front grills the small one was better
it actually gives the car more presence in road
simply hate those huge grill, BMW should've maintained the old subtle looking matte grill like in the M5 instead of blowing it out like any other car maker right now,seems like they're running out of design ideas

You hear Engine and Exhaust sound while in Sports mode and as soon as you put it in Comfort mode, its all gone...!

Bmw has made a beautiful vehicle but the price is top high 1 crore almost on road mumbai one would thinknof buying the range rover velar or the range rover sport anytime rather than going for a bmw pricing is where tjey have to work on
