El downtown de Johannesburgo fue de primer mundo en su momento, era el Nueva York de África, y después del apartheid se descuido mucho, ojalá lo logren recuperar y esta bella ciudad siga conservando su gran desarrollo.

Joburg is really a tale of 2 cities . The central part of Jhb is fraught with urban decay, dilapidated buildings and uncleanliness due to neglect. I think your other Johannesburg videos shows this. These are where the poorest of joburgers live. This part of Joburg, referred to as the Northern suburbs is more “recent” , developed over the last 30 years or so where the rich live . Instead of focusing on urban renewal for central JHB, development was focused towards the more northern areas; your Fourways, Randburg, Sandton and Midrand etc. You clearly see the difference in this video . The streets are relatively clean, the grass manicured and there are new buildings .
People often complain that the city has regressed but that’s because they’re considering the original city centre . Development is still happening and I’m proud of this. There’s still hope in this beautiful country

South Africa has a high rape rate, with 43,195 rapes reported in 2014/15, and an unknown number of sexual assaults going unreported.[207] A 2009 survey of 1,738 men in KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape by the Medical Research Council found one in four men admitted to raping someone,[208] and another survey of 4,000 women in Johannesburg by CIET Africa found one in three said they had been raped in the past year. The incidence of child and infant rape is among the highest in the world, largely as a result of the virgin cleansing myth, and a number of high-profile cases (sometimes as young as eight months)[211] have outraged the nation. Between 1994 and 2018, there were more than 500 xenophobic attacks against foreigners in South Africa.[213] The 2019 Johannesburg riots were similar in nature and origin to the 2008 xenophobic riots that also occurred in Johannesburg. But yes, it's a nice place to live, sure.

Too bad the Western media(US) never shows us the nice parts of any African country. All they show us is war, mud huts and young black kids with potted bellies due to starvation.....Not to mention flies. Anyways would love to visit South Africa and neighboring countries someday. It's best to just go there instead of listening to negativity from the media.
