Johannesburg, informally known as Jozi, Joburg, or "The City of Gold", is the largest city in South Africa, classified as a megacity, and is one of the 100 largest urban areas in the world. According to Demographia, the Johannesburg-Pretoria urban area (combined because of strong transport links that make commuting feasible) is the 26th-largest in the world, with 14,167,000 inhabitants. The city was established in 1886 following the discovery of gold on what had been a farm. Due to the extremely large gold deposit found along the Witwatersrand, within ten years, the population had grown to 100,000 inhabitants.
A separate city from the late 1970s until 1994, Soweto is now part of Johannesburg. Originally an acronym for "South-Western Townships", Soweto originated as a collection of settlements on the outskirts of Johannesburg, populated mostly by native African workers from the gold mining industry.
The metropolis is an alpha global city as listed by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network. In 2019, the population of the city of Johannesburg was 5,635,127, making it the most populous city in South Africa. In the same year, the population of Johannesburg's urban agglomeration was put at 8,000,000. Land area of the municipal city (1,645 km2 or 635 sq mi) is large in comparison with those of other major cities, resulting in a moderate population density of 2,364 per square kilometre (6,120/sq mi).

Joburg is really a tale of 2 cities . The central part of Jhb is fraught with urban decay, dilapidated buildings and uncleanliness due to neglect. I think your other Johannesburg videos shows this. These are where the poorest of joburgers live. This part of Joburg, referred to as the Northern suburbs is more “recent” , developed over the last 30 years or so where the rich live . Instead of focusing on urban renewal for central JHB, development was focused towards the more northern areas; your Fourways, Randburg, Sandton and Midrand etc. You clearly see the difference in this video . The streets are relatively clean, the grass manicured and there are new buildings .
People often complain that the city has regressed but that’s because they’re considering the original city centre . Development is still happening and I’m proud of this. There’s still hope in this beautiful country
The old CBD is on the up. There are many CIDs doing wonders and you'd be surprised how clean and functional most parts are.

What's with some African vloggers they didn't show this side of Johannesburg.. it's modern and beautiful. As what I have seen no other cities in Africa so far could match the modernity of this city.
Many African bloggers pander to their viewers' hatred of SA caused by jealousy, so, they come and head to the poorest parts, giving them what they want to see or views; confirmation bias.
