Hi Keven, interesting video about your travel to Lima Peru.
When you were talking about the Tinder matches expiring in a short amount of time except for your contact from Mexico, maybe as a foreigner they just assume that you will only stay a short amount of time and they leave. The only thing is they are assuming that your stay is short and not for several weeks.

Interesting video, I'd wondered if this genre of video was a thing but i'd never bothered to look it up. Cool city, i didn't know a lot ab it, cool to know your perspective. But i did think it was going to be more related to the nightlife, or some sense of "safety" or acceptance, whether there's a "gay neighborhood" or sth like that. I'm from close to madrid so i know that there's a big gay community and gay neighborhood here but idk if that extrapolates to other cities

Typically, my gay travel videos are more thorough on the experience there as a gay person :) This was different because I was traveling with (straight) friends.
Check out my channel if you're curious - I have many, many gay travel videos!

Your intuition is right, if you don't know locals , stick to what you know. Im Peruvian, and Peru has changed a lot, Lima, the capital in particular is more opened minded. next time I suggest you travel with PERUVIANS who actually know the city and places to hang, you live in Miami, don't you have Peruvian friends or know spanish by now?. Lima is a city that is 500 yrs old, so yeah it is not uniform, it is in constant change and evolution, Art Deco is the cliché of Miami. Miraflores is not considered bougie, its considered as the neighborhood where most tourists start and end up . Tourists have no clue where the boogie areas because only a Peruvian will tell you or show you (La Molina, San Isidro etc). Sadly you got a very narrow perspective of Lima, which is Nothing like the rest of Peru. p.s we are ALL mixed, Asian, indigenous , black, caucasian, etc. There are WEALTHY "native" (as you say,) which is offensive for us, we prefer to be called PERIVIANS, I understand Americans are obsessed with race, we Peruvians are not divided by such nonsense, we are united by culture . Incan princesses intermarried with the Spanish who arrived and their descendants intermarried with the Arabs, Jews, Blacks and Asians who also migrated.

Lima was my first excursion outside of the U.S. and you could say it was quite hot! Fast forward 15 years later when I returned, it didn't feel the same.

@@KevenTalks I think I went after the breakup of my first BF. I had zero Spanish back then in 2007, and my newfound friend and I were using a computer to translate and talk to each other. Cellphones didn't have translate apps back then.

Is purity of blood line of value?

@@KevenTalks When I was in Chile, many years ago, I noted that purity of blood lines was valued by some. Having purely European blood (without Native American ) appeared to be key creating a caste system of sorts. Did you find that true in Peru?

    • @KevenTalks

@@davidwoodford1814 Makes sense...colorism & racism are universal. I don't know for sure that this exists in Peru too, but I wouldn't be remotely surprised. I did notice that in a wealthier part of town, the local patrons had more Euro-centric features, and staff was often native...
