I agree with all of this except education! I am 28, engineer in Michigan. There are no blacks in field of science and I have worked at Pfizer, Consumers, and Raytheon as current head for war repairs. I've never worked with our people, even other sisters and it makes no sense! Well it does when you realize we were not allowed to read and write. It's sad, it truly is when we only graduate around 3000 black stem a year. (Less than 2 Highscools). As it is black history MLK once said our focus as a ppl should be on education as we only read at a 6th grade level, its now 8th. If there was ever a message to sound the alarm to educating our people please let this be it. I've worked in some of the greatest engineering spaces within a short time meeting the Governor in multiple occasions in various roles, wondering why I never work with others that look like me or that I can have a genuine laugh with like when I worked with Flint churches....... and I grew up on 79th south side Chicago watching cousins shoot each other in the back. First memory seeing a man knifed over 20 times, I really thought opportunity was better outside of the terror dome
Not everyone has a mind for science and math that doesn’t mean their mind shouldn’t be cultivated. We should focus on nurturing our children’s intellectual curiosity, critical thinking and creativity. Some of the world’s greatest mathematicians and scientists were also artists and musicians. Let’s educate well rounded children instead of pushing them into fields they may not find interest in or thrive
