I have that built in in my kitchen! The house was built in 1971, I still have original counter tops and my deep porcelain double sink is avocado green.
1. I’m shocked this ended up being good. 2. Styled this way, your hair looks like a beautiful crown, which is fitting 👑 3. Love the content you create and the joy with which you share it all.
I love the pattern of this dress! ❤ It makes me want to send you a teapot. I collect antique and vintage stuff as well, but I think you need a Hall Teapot. 😂😎
Yes! Yes! Yes! Sweet prune purée to flavor & sweeten the fluffy egg white base is the BEST! It was highly popular in the 1950’s - so congrats on being very truly retro! You may already know that this old fashioned confection became even more popular when President Eisenhower reportedly declared Prune Whip to be his “favorite dessert.” You’re right, it’s very much like a mousse. So good!
This dress makes me want to have tea with the girls. I love the dress even with the pretty apron. Now for the prune dessert, never had it but would love to try it.
You look gorgeous, Serena!❤️ I love the fact that you have been making the recipes that came with your appliance!!! That's so awesome!!! I wish my mom was alive so I could share your videos with her, she would really enjoy watching you!!!
I grew up in the 50s and 60s. My amazing mother made us prune whip at least once a month. All she did was boil the prunes until soft, shredded them in pieces, then blended them into fresh sweet whipped cream. She didn't bake it. Thank you for reminding me, I will make some for my family this weekend. I still use her early 50's hand mixer, which is shaped like a rocket ship
I'm grateful that you are trying out these recipes! I don't know if I would have been brave enough to try making "prune whip", but you are helping me open my mind to new/old foods! That dress is to die for too. ❤
I’ve had a similar situation (where a prune-heavy dessert is an unexpected “hit,” and In retrospect it makes sense that it would** yet it’s the “oh is someone in your household constipated?” medicinal slant we know them for doesn’t always lend itself to having it be a festive choice!). ** the qualities that make prunes a “relief” choice for constipation are the same ones that lend it to being a great (and common) resource for extending your shopping budget (a perfect rationing choice in wartime too). it (1) blends well into foods, (2) it has enough fiber to hold it’s shape when incorporated into egg-white (3) the high-sweetness works for flavor (4) the osmolarity of the sweetener draws in moisture to the dish (and your”backed up load!”) My “workaround secret” is that I’ll also incorporate blackberries (or a more “traditional” choice” in with the “PLUMS(!)) and it tends to not face the same uphill battle of association
I can’t even! I fainted at your blender. I love my vintage home. I’ve filled my kitchen with Vintage. I collect and use Blue Cornflower. You have an AHMAZING kitchen
Your comments right before and during tasting were so on-target! Plums are so good by themselves, I was questioning along with you. I'm glad your family enjoyed them this way, too!
I grew up in the 60's in the bay area California. Prunes were plentiful. If you see a prune CAKE recipe I would highly recommend. I am enjoying this series and as always your stunning wardrobe. Thank you!
I like prunes, but I don’t think I would have made that recipe, but if the kids even liked it, I might give it a try. I absolutely love the dress. I covet that fabric, it’s so bright and appealing.
I can't handle your dress and apron LOL!! I get the giggles just seeing some of your beautiful clothes -the fabric is STUNNING and you look so great in it ❤ I love your decor and wallpaper so much too. I wonder if my husband would be on board for a remodel lololol I love mousse but all I was thinking was how scared I'd be to splash on that gorgeous outfit lol I'm clumsy tho.
I like prunes so it would be delish for me! I absolutely love your dining room light. I'm from the 50-60's so all your household pieces are perfect for me and your clothes are perfect. My mom was a seamstress, made all my childhood dresses, I'm not quite so good 😂 Keep making all these videos. I do relate. ♥️👩🦳🌺🐾🍽️☕🍮
I loved the cap you put over your hair so you didn't have to fix it! 😂 Good for bad hair days. I also give kudos to you for trying these old recipes. Glad that you liked it! 😂
Iirc Prune Whip was invented during the depression, since eggs and dried fruit were (semi)plentiful. I wouldn’t be surprised if it could be made with other dried fruits. Also, love the vintage Corningware, that’s one of those things that I grab from thrift stores every time I see it. ^^
...but here we are...hahahaha😊 Years ago my two elderly aunts arrived for a holiday dinner continuing an argument they'd been having on the drive over about, what else, the right way to make prune whip😅takes me back. Thanks.
Gorgeous dress! Courageous Baking! Glad it was good! Dannon used to make prune fruit at the bottom yogurt back in the 60s and 70s. It was one of my faves and hard to find!
Anything with the term Prune is avoided by me - but nice to see your lovely Nu Tone appliance. Isn’t it odd we all don’t have something so handy in our homes today???
reminds me of a pavlova, except with prunes 😆 topped with fresh fruit and cream and I bet this would taste delicious. would be a fun dish to take to Christmas lunch
I remember in my mother's old Better Home & Garden's cookbook the calories for various desserts and there was a calories for a whipped prune pie! It was the lowest calorie pie!
I'm loving your series on the Nutone. Ironically enough, the previous owner of my house left an original Nutone mixer blender in the garage, which I recently discovered. It even has the pink container and knife sharpener!
I can't wait to get a similar one, I've been showing my husband your videos and shorts to show him why i want a kitchen like yours 😂😂 Found a modern one that says works with the original attachments from Nu Tone 😊
🤣😂😂 I like it. My only thing is it taste so much like a regular prune it’s only worth making if you want the nice fluffy texture otherwise just eat a few prunes and cut out all the dishes
I have that built in in my kitchen! The house was built in 1971, I still have original counter tops and my deep porcelain double sink is avocado green.
Oh my gosh, that's sounds like a dream come true.
I'm mostly distracted by the device inside the counter.
Hahah good this series was made to highlight the food center 🥰🤗🤗
"At this point I'm questioning all my life decisions!" 😂😂😂
Prune whip. That's an interesting recipe. I'm glad y'all liked it. Good food for the gut.
Plum pudding is delicious, so I expect plum mousse would be the same. But I am living for that lovely dress!!
Plum mousse just sounds tastier. Prune whip made me think: "that sounds like a way to ruin some perfectly good dried plums".
1. I’m shocked this ended up being good. 2. Styled this way, your hair looks like a beautiful crown, which is fitting 👑 3. Love the content you create and the joy with which you share it all.
Awww thanks so much 💕❤️ I was pretty shocked too. I was prepared for it to be awful.
Last week I found out I am allergic to a whole bunch of food. One of the things helping me adjust is your videos allowing vicarious exploration. ♡
Oh no! I hope it doesn’t make eating too difficult. I’m so glad you are enjoying my videos. 🤗❤️ sending lots of love your way.
@@SewRena thank you very much 💗💗💗
My diet is *super* limited these days. It's okay if you grieve the diet you had before, and not having to think about what you eat SO much.
@@howcanikeepfromsinging thank you ♡
Your husband and children are lucky to have you !
You are one Classy Lady !❤
I remember this from my childhood - It's wonderful! Thanks for the reminder. On the menu for tonight... and I'm not saying what it is. ;-)
Hahahah I hope everyone likes it 😂
I really like prunes. I'd definitely give this a try ❤️
Another beautiful dress worn to perfection!
I love the pattern of this dress! ❤ It makes me want to send you a teapot. I collect antique and vintage stuff as well, but I think you need a Hall Teapot. 😂😎

@lindabenson4742 Thanks so much for the Eisenhower Era info. That is new to me!
Oh wow that outfit is so beautiful
This dress makes me want to have tea with the girls. I love the dress even with the pretty apron. Now for the prune dessert, never had it but would love to try it.
You brave soul, I’m glad it turned out well
This girl is too much!!!! 😄 ❤
Too much awesomeness!! Love her.
That counter top blender & mixer though... 😮😍💖

I would love for you to have a show!!! You could demonstrate sewing, cooking and I would watch you everyday.
I would like this. 😊
Yes. Might make it for my MOL. no explanation needed…🤣
I'm grateful that you are trying out these recipes! I don't know if I would have been brave enough to try making "prune whip", but you are helping me open my mind to new/old foods! That dress is to die for too. ❤
There are moments I regret saying I would try all the recipes 😂, but it’s definitely expanding my culinary world. Thanks so much for watching💕
@@SewRena You bet! You are my favorite RUclips creator. All the best to you and your family! 🧡
I’m with you…prunes don’t need company!!!

So badly I want to see a look book video of your! You have so many beautiful clothes. I just want to see them all.
Me too!
My mother made this for me and my siblings in the 70s. Very good.
Thank you for your honest reviews! If you liked it...I'm sure that I would. I like prunes.
Love your dress print. Hard to see what was on it but very nostalgic looking.
Thanks! It’s little Halloween candies, bats and random abstract mcm line art
I like prunes, but I don’t think I would have made that recipe, but if the kids even liked it, I might give it a try.
I absolutely love the dress. I covet that fabric, it’s so bright and appealing.
Your videos are just so much fun! The kitchen, how you dress, what you make--it brings back memories and informs us about history. Thank you!

I adore that countertop set. LOVE it, and I bet it never breaks, either. The Prune Whip I had a child, and I can say I am still regular.
Oh my God, the dress. The lacy apron! How do you always manage to look so elegant while you're cooking??
This Prune Whip is truly delectable. My mother made it for us on special family occassions when she had the time. I will have to whip it up now!
i’d want that Nutone built-in kitchen system Soooooo BADLY!!! and somebody should start manufacturing those again. They are the boss.
I’m getting flashbacks from my youth about prunes… but girl, that dress is beautiful!!!!!! Tfs

Oh my gosh 😂! Your face says it all when you eat your prune whip ! Love your channel.
I’ve never actually had Prune Whip. Always heard about it…but usually as the butt of a joke! I’m glad you liked it.
Hahaha it taste good but it sounds and looks bad so I can see why it has a bad reputation. It smells lovely too once it’s in the oven
God bless you for trying prunes! You are a dedicated lady!
You are a spectacularly unique person. Truly delightful!
I'm not sure about the recipe itself, but YOUR vibes are definitely DELICIOUS and a hit!!
You have the most perfect kitchen I have seen, with the exception of the 1960s barbie kitchen.
I absolutely LOVE watching your channel. Don't let anyone tell you anything but positivity!!!!!!!
Okay. But, why are you so adorable?
You are a culinary risk taker! :-) I'm oddly fascinated with the NuTone.
My mother had many desert recipes They fed us prunes regularly at school. Loved them.
I love your content so much🥰
Add more cooking Please to the shorts. Watching you use the vintage appliances is soooooo cooooooooolll
Thank you so much 💕❤️
I loved the cap you put over your hair so you didn't have to fix it! 😂 Good for bad hair days.
I also give kudos to you for trying these old recipes. Glad that you liked it! 😂
Niche interest: old recipes that sound heinous but are actually good.
Hahah I think the ones that sound bad, but taste good are the best ones. I’m the most shocked by them

Never had that, my kids would eat prunes as a snack, right out the box, lol.
I’m glad you got a win on this one

Really enjoying the print on your dress, so fun. Very strange recipe, but glad to know it's tasty.
This would be so good with the orange essence prunes. Im going to make this this weekend.
I haven't had that in decades. my Grandma and Aunt used to make it. it was delicious. I love prune.
I'm obsessed with your videos and this channel in general!!!!!!!! OBSESSED
What a cute kitchen.
My grandmother used to make cheese souffle and prune souffle. Your prune whip is similar. We always enjoyed it.

LOVE THAT MIXER/BLENDER, SO AWSOME‼️
I was a very small child in this era and I remember clam dip…some of the things we used to eat 🙄🙄😑
That dress 😍
I was surprised you liked it. I always love your reaction to tasting something new. 😊
That is the coolest kitchen appliance! Amazing to see it in action.
Beautiful summer dress.
I wish they still made kitchens like that ❤
Love what you do ❤
That system is cool!
I love how that blender n mixing bowl works in your kitchen. So awesome n you make pretty clothes
Haven't had it since I was a child but I do remember it was delicious.
You look very pretty with your hair up.

You are awesome ❤❤❤
Yummy 😋 😊
Looks good. Your kitchen center is genius! Would love to have such a kitchen.
I LOVE prunes! I'll try this.

Brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger and vanilla bean I would add😊to this recipe. Add this recipe to plain yogurt 😊.
Great idea! ❤❤ your kitchen!!
