The reason Madden was eager to kill Coll was that Coll in his kidnapping spree kidnapped Madden's right-hand man, Big Frenchy LeMange, and Madden had to ransom his assistant. This is related in the movie, "Cotton Club," as well as Paul Sann's entertaining book, "Kill the Dutchman."

More than a few Coll's from around the Bunbeg area in the Gweedore parish who would be from the same people who originally lived off the West Donegal coast...there are also a lot of Coll's from the Andalucia region of Spain and there could be some link to the Spanish Armada....Irish President Eamonn Devalera's mother was Spanish and her surname was Coll.

@@scottmccaul8023 Couldn't be sure Scott as you are on the American side but in general the Coll's just kept their name as Coll...my grandfather was born and raised in Bunbeg...the same little townland where Vincent was born before the family moved to New York...given that I could be related to him far out myself but still don't know for sure although all the Coll's from that area Bunbeg are related either closely or distantly....there is definitely a Spanish connection going way back.

@@scottmccaul8023 Scott they aren't actually my vids...I've just watched them like your good self and have responded to some comments on the subject as I know the Bunbeg area in Co Donegal well...it's beautiful and only the relevant poverty led to Vincent's family immigrate...his to New York and mines the relatively short hop to the great city of Glasgow..Scotland where there are dozens of Coll's who all originate from that small area and all of whom regularly travel home each summer to the ould sod and the magical turf fires with that beautiful peat smoke...once smelled never forgotten. Try a book called MAD DOG by Brendan Delap and Rich Gold....think I read you say u were from the rocky mountains...it's a small world as they say but I wouldn't like to paint it 😉 Slainte mo Chara.
