  • Here is an ultimate guide to everything skiboarding. From bindings to board choices, and even a little maintenance. A lot of questions I get are just from people overthinking things, so my best advice is just take this info and make an informed person decision and then shred! Simple as that!
    FAQs
    1. Do you still ride for RVL8?
Yes! Meet the rest of the Pro Riders here
    www.rvl8skiboards.com/team.html
    2. I am 200+ lbs. Can I still ride?
Yes! Like I stated in the video, KTPs would be a great option. You will want a stiffer board like those and most likely non-release bindings.
    3. No poles? Can I use them?
NO POLES! lol but yes you could use them if you really want but that defeats the purpose and freedom of riding Skiboards in the first place. Learn how to push and use your edges and you will never pick up a pair of poles again.
    4. Is it like rollerblading?
Similar in the skating movements but other than that it is closer to skiing than anything else.

Hey man love you vids, but I have a question.. I've been riding ski boards for 5 or 6 years now but 75cm boards. I've found they're terrible for trying to land jumps and powder, is that typical for a 75cm set up because of the lack of surface area? I also find my buddies who ski are way faster and glide way better then me even when I'm freshly waxed and they arent. What's your opinion on 75cm boards? I run SnowJam boards with a chamfered side if that helps at all, I'm looking at Revel8s currently!

My wife is a really good snowboarder, shes been boarding her whole life. The last 10 years ive been trying to learn and it just isnt fun trying to move like that. A year ago i tried skiiing and didnt have any better of a time. Ive rollerbladed most of my life so tried out some snowblades a week ago and loooooooooved it, so today im expecting my own rvl8 boards to show up, all due to this video thank you!!!

Preach!!! Thank you for representing us skiboarders and spreading the word. I tried a pair of K2 fattys about 20 years ago (coming from a pair of Rossi 205 GS skis) and have never put full length ski's back on. I love the questions and comments I get from people when I'm out riding my XL Blunts. People are amazed by the boards and what I can do on them. My 13 year old son even prefers to ride my old Line Weapons over his full length Line Super Heros. Keep spreading the word Brother. Skiboarder for life!!

I've been waiting so long for this video I already made my RVL8 purchase. Went with the 2017 Sticky Icky Icky with Spruce Riser. I'm not confident enough in my riding to run the non-release bindings, for now. I cannot wait to hit the mountain for the first time on them. You are definitely one of the main reasons I went with RVL8 over Summit. I would love to ski more ski boarding content.

I loved this video. I learned a lot of new information i did not know. I got into skiboards back in 2017 while living in Colorado. I never heard of RVL8. My first pair were a pair of SnowJam 540's Panzer 90 cm and now my new pair are Summit Marauder 125cms. Both with snowboard bindings using a summit riser kit. I was just wondering what are your thoughts on Summits skiboards and longer skiboards. I noticed that RVL8 only went up to 110 cm and they were wider. thanks in advance and keep posting skiboard videos!

Hi Talon! Love this skiboard guide but could you also consider doing a guide for actually riding them, like how to improve or tips for advanced riding/tricks? I've been skiboarding for a bit now but I don't get to go too often, and I'm kind of stuck at an intermediate level. I went to Park City recently and had no trouble riding through most of the blues, but I have difficulty with more advanced techniques like doing tricks, riding backwards, going down steep slopes, moguls, etc. I've looked around but there doesn't seem to be much help for improving my skiboard skills (mostly only found regular skiing or snowboarding). My best bet of trying to improve has just been watching your videos and trying to figure out how you ride, but some tips/tricks to become a better skiboarder would be much appreciated!

as a rider from Alberta Canada. our rockies have lotta powder and deep snow.
what model would you recommend for this type of terrain.
debating from KTP vs DLP but im worrying if they would be too long
do they feel much different than 88cm skiboard that i have?
i want it still easy to do tricks and carving but sometimes 88cm digs into the powder snows up here it slows me down..
does KTP float good on powder even though i dont move the binding backwards?
id like to go shorter as possible but still good enough for carving and moguls and powder
actually i just found that there is going to a Revolt 5 SEI collab do they perform well in powder as well? i see on the comparison chart revolt 5 has score 6 on powder

I’m not a great skier and I picked up a pair when I was helping my kids learn. No poles and short I could easily get close to the kids to pick them up.
Now all I use are snow boards. I use regular release bindings with the DIN turned down a bit (non-aggressive older rider). I want those things to pop off if I get crossed up! I’ll live with the “yard sale!” Comments and skip the trip down in the sled, lol.
Edit: I used them several years with the non-release bindings with no problems.

Hi. I've been snowblading for over 20 yrs, but it was always a struggle to go through powder. A few years ago, I learned about skiboards and bought Summit Carbon Pro 99cm, thinking that the wider design would help. It's certainly better than regular snowblades, but it still doesn't ride well. I've fallen because the boards sunk into snow, so I tend to tire my legs keeping the front tips up to prevent it. Do I just need to buy a longer board with more of a rocker design? I'd appreciate any tips. Thank you.

these kind of skiboards is impossible to get in sweden can't find them at all

These are shorter skiboards and beneath your skill level but What do you think about the RVL8 Bantam 75 or Tansho 90 cm skiboards?

    • @TalonSei
      @TalonSei  3 года назад

I would not recommend bantams for adults, they are very small and anyone over 150lbs would risk breaking them. Tanshos would be a better choice but I still personally recommend 98cm+ to most adults.

Fyi, I'm a new skier, stick to groomers, and don't plan on hitting any jumps. Just skiing with my kids.
