Every time I hear Kent Hughes speak I am impressed. No salesman talk, no cliches, no excuses, just plain talk by a remarkably intelligent hockey executive.

I mean he do some sales talk in press conferences to push some players on the trade block from time to time but in such a subtle and classy way. He is not a peddler for sure, and he is indeed very very smart.

@@TonkyTube Hughes' main problems are of 2 kinds: he has to put up with the Bergevin's legacy in terms of terrible contracts and, ironically, the outnumbered young good players in development.

Kent is the guy ! He's the modern day savard ! Anybody who doesn't see this knows nothing about hockey or how to rebuild a franchise! At the end of the day you need a strong core and futures ! Having a teaching philosophy permits a team to build a real future and maintain it ! Props to Kent he really really gets it !

To accomplish a goal ,one needs a vision, like the Vegas Golden Knights Owner who said at the start of the franchise we will win the Stanley Cup within 7 years and they did. Kent Hugues always says I don't put a time line, he seems to lack confidence and trying to buy time @ several millions/yr for him Gorton & St-Louis. The truth is he hasn't made the playoffs yet and Bergevin brought the Habs to a final

I don't think most people are buying anything, they just don't care anymore and he does not give any reason to since he has no plan, just some weird hope that anything can happen at the beginning of a season. Starting the season and playing all the games is now seen as something to aspire to.

Is it possible that MTL Montreal management does not understand or is willing to accept, that a TOP 4 FORWARD at 6-2/210 pounds with 25 goals and (10.0 hits per 60 minutes) ......... is more valuable than a 5-9/175 pound 30 goal scorer with (2.0 hit per 60 minutes) played.

THERE IS A 50% CHANCE THAT CAUFILED WILL SCORE 40 GOALS. ....only 50%........ THERE IS A 100% CHANCE THAT Brady Tkachuk WILL SCORE 30+. BUT Brady will be a huge power-forward inflicting pain & fear... Hockey is a game of skill, brains AND intimidation .... You should try to get all three from each FORWARD you have in your system or groom them that way ..... SCREW CONCEPTS that target skill only ...... ...... If the team is having a hard time scoring , use your second option and HIT EVERYTHING IN SITE AND REPOSSES THE PUCK when your team loses it..
