Exactly! Meanwhile, for a couple of other channels that I watch and who generally provide solid entertaining playthroughs, even for those channels the novelty of StarField has worn off after a couple of weeks and by now it's devolved into a rather boring "Shoot & Loot" simulator.
If it takes 60 hours to finish the main quest then Gopher will take 600. 1 hour heading to the main guest and 9 hours getting distracted and then getting distracted from the distraction. that's how he always finds the most interesting content... by ADHD patrol .
I just realized something. Todd has finally made a game where Gopher uses the fast travel function by moving to planet location or to X Y and Z in space.
*eyes shut* *inhale* ...*sigh* y'know, i took this completely seriously until i read the reply...i mean i detected a hint of joke formatting...but still.
2:26 I wish this game had a 'fast travel' buttom to fast travel and the 'land' one to actually land (get the landing animation and stay in the ship while on it), don't take control of my character in such abrupt way... Hate that sometimes it struggles to telegraph the difference and spawns you already on the surface, sometimes quite far from the ship. I'm cool with fast travel tho but out of personal preference I choose not to use it in this type of games: immersive sims, action rpgs, crpgs, Bethesda style rps, and so on. It really takes away from the experience to me, it's annoyng enough with the loading blackscreen transition. Hope future patches or DLC's fix this issue, if not we're gonna have to take the matter in our own hands and mod it unfortubately. P. S: Loving the series!
The next couple episodes could be a ton of fun. Going to that distress call is one of the really good experiences and getting Barrett also. Lots of fun to be had by all.
Gopher, Thursday,July 4th is Independence day in the U.S...Fireworks,BBQ's, Lots of booze, and fun with family and friends...so In advance...May the Fourth Be with you! 🎉
Hey Gopher little tip here or better yet a warning.. Don't store any items in your New Atlantis apartment if you own it that is. Everything, but everything that i stored in there just got deleted.. Unique quest items gone, snowglobes, basically everything and i can't go back to another save. So hopefully this doesnt happends to you! Btw, love your vids and have an amazing weekend dude.
Oh, so you managed to recruit characters from start of the game - that's nice to know! Even though there is no place for every crew member on Frontier...😂 I hope that their new assignment will end up better than the last one...
Gopher I have been subscribed for over a decade now and a long time Patreon as well. I have a question, how planning goes into character creation for role playing? Do you have a general idea and then just go with the flow of the game or do you have a concrete idea before you start a LP? Me personally 9 times out of 10 I have an idea and get 30 hours in and decide I want something different and inevitably start a new PC on my first play through.
100 hours in is just scratching the surface. Add that you can change traits by various means within the game there was no need to start over unless your going for knifes edge efficiency. I did that on a Fallout playthrough. Super fun planning every step of every quest from the start and seeing how close I could get to perfection.@@strangestecho5088
I'll never understand why people think they play perfectly themselves. They don't have thousands of people nitpicking their stupidity. Especially in Starfield, the game doesn't do a great job explaining a lot of its systems and controls.
Bethesda games have ALWAYS had EXCELLENT tutorials. it's Called the first 30 hour of the Game. After that it becomes a singing simulator as you constantly Wail "I Wish I New That Earlier" over and over for the next 30 hours.@@NickGuelker
With the longer fuselage, your ship is starting to look like an Eagle from Space: 1999. Yes, I'm carbon-dating myself here, and yes, I think the Eagle is an incredibly cool design.
So I know the game sometimes just loads you onto the tarmac outside your ship. I imagine there's already a mod to fix that. But selecting the location using the scanner the way Gopher did at Vectera, rather than via the Planet Menu, would count as fast travel and guarantee that's what happens. It didn't happen at Gryphus because it was his first time landing there. Am I correct in thinking that?
Yes. The landing animation is a cover for the procedural Generation. Once you have landed it is no longer necessary since the PG is locked in place after that so the animation is removed as well as takeoff animation unless you specifically engage liftoff. There are Several mods in the works to restore the Animations.
There is a Glitch. If you have Vasco as a companion and take off into orbit, Vasco will be standing on top of the cockpit in space. Gopher noticed this so .....
20:13 So what you're saying is that in order to infiltrate a criminal hideout later, we're going to need the punchline of one of these jokes as a password.
The planets can have multiple biomes and are procedurally generated unique to every playthrough. Some of the quest locations are likely procedural as well.
That's the procedural generation at work. Thousands of encounters with thousands of variables means MILLIONS of options. Never run past anything without taking a peek. You may never see that encounter the same way again in 10 years of replays.
Outposts are essentially ship crew swapping stations. Check their Stats. Most are Botanists or Personal Trainers. Bad ship crew. a few are AWESOME since their perks transfer to the player as if the player had them.
Sarah's Leadership skill makes it so you can have +1 crew, so basically it is if she doesn't count against you for Crew Size. Still wonder how long it will be before he realizes there is a setting to Hide Spacesuit, and Helmet while in Breathable Areas!
Are you sure? Leadership doesn't affect number of crew you can have as far as I know. Also, later on I could not assign her to the ship once it had 2 crew. If this is a thing I guess you have to assign her first?
@@GophersVids It's just an exclusive perk for Sarah, she doesn't count as a crew member when you assign her so you can have up to five in total by default.
Please, folks, forget about this eternally discussed setting for spacesuits and helmets to show or hide in breathable areas or settlements. It obviously is bugged. After working initially it lets my character now roam without visible helmet in 0 atmosphere environments although it is equipped or even worse, in her underwear or overall, if she is equipped with one. Seems, I learned that from Sarah, who started this BS running around in her leather jacket on a moon without any pressure or gases. So I finally ended up to manually equip/undress my gear to keep the immersion.
Gopher, I know it's your first playthrough and thus you are playing it cautiously, but I wish you went for more sarcastic options in the dialogues :) Sure, it's nice to hear your chuckle when you read the option aloud, but some of the NPCs' responses to you being a smartass are really funny :)
That's reserved for "Space Barry" I'm sure he will show his Greasy Plump Face at some point. and then pass gas and shoot a table or something for no reason.
@@carrieullrich5059 Oh, I will never ask Gopher to make the choices he doesn't like :) I guess I was under the wrong impression he was being cautious with answers so as not to cut off some dialogue trees.
This series could easily get to 250 episodes. And still not be boring. Amazing.

With gopher playing? Make that 2500 :P (and I'm here for that)
I love that you can greet Lin just as Barret did at the start, that was a hilarious 😂
"Now's not the time to be flirting with the boss,' he says out loud, while stuffing an entire watermelon into his pants.
Gigidy.
I just realized something. Todd has finally made a game where Gopher uses the fast travel function by moving to planet location or to X Y and Z in space.
The Mortal Kombat theme was actually inspired by an old European song of praise.
It was a Finnish hymn.
Keep em coming my guy 😅.

It's really Sarah that adds an extra crew. But I like Gopher's reasoning.
The next couple episodes could be a ton of fun. Going to that distress call is one of the really good experiences and getting Barrett also. Lots of fun to be had by all.
Only met the core 5 people myself but Barrett truly has the chillest funny personality of them all.
Captain, Gopher "I think your gonna need a bigger boat." Or at least more cabin space.
Good addition to the crew, that Lin. Now you can all make a sandwich :)

Same with the Mantis ship storage and mannequins. They randomly delete Also.

For my first play through I normally just play myself (more or less). After that I tend to get more creative :)
I ended up restarting 100 hours in this time, because I wanted certain traits for new game plus.

'you are the best Charley three I talked to all week' lol :)

Honestly, he's been doing this for so long I'm sure he always knows when it's going to happen. He might even be entertained by it at this point.

That's a nice compliment to start off on.

I saw that the Nexus has a mod that makes your sights visible, in camo mode. I'm not sure how elegantly it does it, but it might be worth a look.
"Vasco hangs outside" caught me off-gaurd 😂

Huh, I found Heller in a habitated planet, and the crash ship was in some sort of forest. I guess that part is random.
🙂yay🙂another episode thank you gopher 👍🏻
What the heck? Heller was crashed on a completely different planet / biome for me... there were Trees and stuff...

People sure do like to quote Barret verbatim.
Sadly, my computer won't quite handle Starfield. :(
C'mmmoooonnnn Gopher, how can you resist that beautiful accent with stars in her eyes living her dream right next to you?
I still have Heller on my ship. I don't do settlements, so, there he is. I also don't do companions, so he must be realllllyyy bored.

@GophersVids You still need a ship with enough crew capacity modules, but yeah she's otherwise a 'free slot.'
Ah, that‘s why I suddenly have Lynn, Sarah and Vasco despite having only room for 2?
Please, folks, forget about this eternally discussed setting for spacesuits and helmets to show or hide in breathable areas or settlements. It obviously is bugged. I'm glad he's doing choices he likes tis time. I'm certain someday we will see a full on snark play through, it will be nice to see new dialogue then.
It's not about being cautious. They're just not always the choices I want to make for this play through :)
@@GophersVids Got it. Well, I'll be eagerly awaiting the full snark playthrough in the future then :)
