I made an Oopsie - Joker Corals is actually located in Georgia, not NYC. This would impact those who may be interested in the free local pick-up. My apologies! Be sure to watch their website at jokercorals.com this coming Saturday for their live sale! Lots of super affordable corals incoming...! 🔥
I love seeing your son in the videos. It makes me smile every time. I love when kids are at that stage. Cherish it as they grow to fast. Enjoy being a dad. It's the best thing in the world. Keep up the good work. 👍
Tank looks GREAT! glad to see you got over the Dinos, but sorry to hear about the clam, Like you said sometimes it just happens. Love the new puppy too! There isn't anything better than a kid growing up with a puppy
Man your tank is getting to be so beautiful! I love seeing how much your gorgonians have been growing. I know I would love to see an update on all your gorg! RIP to your clam tho. It was so sad seeing that empty space. :(
I feel your pain, a couple of months ago I lost my 5 year old Derasa Clam which I got as a tiny little clam and grew to the size of a grapefruit. Mine died after a tank upgrade in which my nutrients dropped 😢
Sorry about the clam brother😢super sad that she did not make it. Been watching since you got it. Pacific East aquaculture just so happens to have some wicked tear drop clam for when you are ready to get another.
My condolences to you in the clam. I lost one to hermit crab & one just poofed like yours as well. I’m hoping to get one or two in palooza next month. I’ve been without a clam for 2 1/2 years now and I think I’m ready lol
Still love Chewie for the puppies name. Definitely pour one out for the clam, never had luck with them. Those new corals look amazing and the tank it's looking like it's starting to thrive.
Bristleworms will do that, as soon as they smell any flesh decay they come in to finish the job. Happens only to inverts in my system and its always the same thing, especially for snails and mollusks. Once they get into the shell its almost always going to be bad down the line.
It just happened. Some of these super wizards of Reefing have entire tank crashes. They have sumps, super expensive equipment and all the good stuff. It even happens in the ocean. Entire reef sections bleach out, scientists left baffled. It's life
Sry about the loss of the clam. I have a similar sized derasa that started to go south suddenly with a pinched mantle. Like you everything else coral fish inverts were fine and parameters alk temp salinity calcium etc were ok. Just slightly elevated phosphate which was corrected via brightwell phosphate I thought it was going to die. But I did some research and did a freshwater dip with RO water with ph and alk matching system and the clam pulled through. Was skeptical but if it was going to go I had to try. Best of luck w the future new clam. Tank looks great.
Definitely get a Reef wave from Red Sea man, I had the 25 one for my 37 tall and it worked perfectly for my octo’s, torch and other LPS corals. The reefwave 45 should do the job on your tank.
I was listening to the Tidal Garden’s live show and Than said he sucks at keeping clams cause the trace of coral dip would make it into his tank. You’ve added some new corals lately could it be traces of dip?
So sorry you lost your beautiful clam. I know how you feel I was devastated when mine died. I’m pretty sure my flame angel killed mine although I never saw him nipping at it. Your tank does look amazing. Keep up the good work. Love seeing Emily and sweet Leon. Regarding your puppy I recommend training him to do his business outside because it’s hard to transition from using puppy pads and then teaching him to go outside. He’s a cute puppy for sure
Don’t complete dead area a clam. They need some movement. Also they filter tank amd well. So keep some phyto and also keep an eye on nitrates as they feed on both and can clean water faster than you think
Sorry about the clam, but since you have a monitoring system look back to when you first notice the clam having issues. Maybe there was a parameter of and the monitoring system can clue you in. I see that you did place a mangrove shoot in the sump area, interesting thing will be if and how the parameters will change over time. The lighting is low so growth will be slow.
That sucks, sorry. I have always had problems with clams. Have had better luck with Derasa which have lower light requirements. I'm not getting any more claims until I can find room in my next build where I know I can ramp them up to a high par level, like 350 or more. For me I am pretty sure that was my issue, keeping clams in like barley 200 par where they are placed seemed to not work long term. I could be wrong though. Good luck with your next one.
I am gonna share my experience with you hopefully we all can learn from this misfortune and you may one day start clam again. I feed my clams since 2inches daily with all sort of foods and rotate them. I still feed mine at about 6 inches now daily but will lesser amount per feed.
If it died that fast w/ no other corals showing signs, it might be a worm that got into the clam via the abyssal gape. If it isnt mounted on a plate its good to have its tendon down on a nice rock or something you can move to check for the worms periodically. ive flipped my 6" derasa over and found 2-5 bristle worms chilling there annoying it from underneath.
I can feel when it comes to things randomly dying. I recently had my hi-fin goby disappear (and he is gone for sure). At least I still have my pistol shrimp! I’ll need to get a buddy for him again sometime
Sorry man... be sure to double check the overflow box / sump too, my gobies were regulars in those compartments for the first two months until they really settled in... hope yours show up for you!
Hey man, I'm in Maryland too. If you frag any of your corals, it'd be awesome to say, i have a "inappropriate coral". Lol. ESPECIALLY those super bright zoas!
Sorry to hear about the clam :( Your tank looks great though! One question though. My basic green hammer is kinda extended out and doesn’t have that condensed hammer type look. It’s healthy, but does it get that look under higher flow or light?
Oh my goodness, I enjoy my clam so much and he is some years old. I realy feel your pain on this. This is so sad. Heavy metal should not the problem because you other invertabrate are doing good. Did you check the byssus gland, sometimes bristle worms can go insde and kill the clam?! The white rim is very weak, my clam have always a bigger white rim. But clams are actually stable if they etalished, I have no idea what the reason cloud be.
I got a comment from someone elses vid. Mounting acros at an angle helps them grow.. better fill in and really helps for tabling type sticks. Just thought I would pass that on.. dont know if its true
one of the hardest thing with mixed reefs it flow i can tell you that one MP-40 at 25% wont be enough flow for those SPS honestly i think one of the main reasons mixed reefs fail is because people want ot add SPS to them instead of just doing softies and LPS
Sorry for your loss. I'd be careful with those puppy pads, some contain pheromones or scents to encourage puppies to go on them and can be counterproductive and confusing when potty training dogs.
That mushroom could cause you some grief after it really starts pooping out the babies. My buddy lost a rock completely covered in zoas because his mushroom decided to make the rock their home instead.
So sad...ive lost so many clams. I keep buying small ones and they never make it more than 6 months tops. I guess thats why big ones cost so much more...i tried so hard with tbe last one... i think my wrasse harrassed him too much. He wss ok for a couple months then i started to notice the wrasse picking around his foot in the clam hammock i bought him. I thought he was just picking at spaghetti worms or other little pests but he may have been also or exclusively nipping at his foot. Then his mantle started retracting little by little til he was gone... clams are like my white whale
Bro!!! Trick.. SHOT GLASS and 2 FOOT FEEDING TUBE.... start using shot glass with food suck up and use feeding tube. Eventually all the creatures that live will come out to feed. It’s a great trick to see every animal you have on your reef! Try it you’ll always use a tube and a shot glass to feed.
Moki, most clams need to be placed in a rock cradle, for want of a better description. The are subject to being irritated by worms and other aquarium denizens.More importantly, the clams,as they mature, put out tendrils that fasten them to that rock cradle.Without going into a deep scientific explanation and everyone falling asleep, these anchors are necessary ,and if torn off can be fatal. Also, clams need more light in the lower Kelvin range towards red and orange and a very intense source (Like Metal Halides) can provide.Feel free to email me directly or phone, Doc BC
Thanks for the info Doc! I am under the impression that Derasa clam doesn't attach to anything like the Maxima/Crocea do - Let me look into this before my next clam, either way I think having a rock cradle may help keeping pests away from the bottle of the clam and is a good idea! Good suggestion on the light, I will need to brainstorm a little on how to make it work better for future clam. Maybe a whiter spectrum of light at some point of the lighting schedule?

i know it's quite randomly asking but does anyone know of a good place to watch newly released series online ?
I love seeing your son in the videos. It makes me smile every time. I love when kids are at that stage. Cherish it as they grow to fast. Enjoy being a dad. It's the best thing in the world.

Tank looks great! And the kid is getting big lol been awhile since I checked in nice to see u growing over 60k! Keep doing what you do 🤞🏾💯
Godfather! How have you been? It is riding season again, hope you are enjoying the breeze and staying eazy! 🏍
My condolences to you in the clam. I lost one to hermit crab & one just poofed like yours as well. I’m hoping to get one or two in palooza next month. I’ve been without a clam for 2 1/2 years now and I think I’m ready lol

Hey brother thanks for sharing fantastic video and corrals too...👍👍👍👍👍😊😊😊😊

im sorry for you man :/ i know that clam was one of the big stars of the channel
It just happened. Some of these super wizards of Reefing have entire tank crashes. They have sumps, super expensive equipment and all the good stuff. It even happens in the ocean. Entire reef sections bleach out, scientists left baffled. It's life
Wowza the tank looks amazing

The tiny hand!!! Hehehe!
Sad about the clam, looking forward to hearing your theories.
Were you adding zooplankton to the tank? Maybe it didn’t get enough food? They need to be in-between rocks too.
I was listening to the Tidal Garden’s live show and Than said he sucks at keeping clams cause the trace of coral dip would make it into his tank. You’ve added some new corals lately could it be traces of dip?
You need Giro for the main and mp 10 on the bottom back to keep the dead ends flowing..
Loving it
Nice tank.. green star polyps on the left are great, easy and colorful. Should let them grow and take a nice area of the tank.
aw sorry for ur loss, my clam also started to de-attach itself from the anchored point and falling to the side, a bit worried.
So sorry you lost your beautiful clam. I know how you feel I was devastated when mine died. I’m pretty sure my flame angel killed mine although I never saw him nipping at it. Your tank does look amazing. Keep up the good work. Love seeing Emily and sweet Leon.

Sorry about the clam 😣. Your Hippo tang is getting big though 👏🏽
Leon did bring the mood up in this video.
Totally! Perhaps in future happy videos I will insert some crying clips to bring the mood down for balance 😂
@@InappropriateReefer LOL!

I see that the clam did not have a foot attached to anything.. Maybe a flat piece of rock underneath nest time??
my favorite tank on you tube !!!!
Man id love all corals.. have a few including NyK torch
I am gonna share my experience with you hopefully we all can learn from this misfortune and you may one day start clam again.

Sorry man... be sure to double check the overflow box / sump too, my gobies were regulars in those compartments for the first two months until they really settled in... hope yours show up for you!
Looking good. Gutted about the glam. Tank is filling out nicely. I wouldn't mess around with Flow. If everything is happy then why mess it up
Uhh my condolence. I've lost 2 gorgeous class in 1 yr.
You ever look into the random flow generators to mix return pump patterns?
I love how this tank is starting to fill in and color up
Thanks man, it was rough staring at tank full of bone white rock for half a year... 😅
I took a min of silence for your clam. It's always a bad day when something perishes in your tank.
Hey man, I'm in Maryland too. If you frag any of your corals, it'd be awesome to say, i have a "inappropriate coral". Lol. ESPECIALLY those super bright zoas!
Why did you not open the clam, was there not anything inside???
Joker corals sent you a freaking gold mine
Sorry to hear about the clam :(
Your tank looks great though! One question though. My basic green hammer is kinda extended out and doesn’t have that condensed hammer type look. It’s healthy, but does it get that look under higher flow or light?
Perhaps try a redish chalice or 2 for that shaded area on the left of the tank behind the gsp
You should check your par level maybe that had something to do with the clam?
Oh my goodness, I enjoy my clam so much and he is some years old. I realy feel your pain on this. This is so sad.

Have your parameters been in check? Any fluctuations in Alk?
My condolences for your clam.
What is that blue clamp you use to pick things up in your tank? I would really love to buy one of those
No new growth margin on that clam. It's not been well for awhile. You should always see new white shell.
I got a comment from someone elses vid. Mounting acros at an angle helps them grow.. better fill in and really helps for tabling type sticks. Just thought I would pass that on.. dont know if its true

That is sad but clams are hard... any small think they just go and that is it
That mushroom could cause you some grief after it really starts pooping out the babies. My buddy lost a rock completely covered in zoas because his mushroom decided to make the rock their home instead.
I had a claim for over 10 years ended up selling him did you have a good enough lighting back then I used to run all VHO shows and they were fantastic
Is that a toadstool next to the clam? I wonder if toxins coming from it could’ve been a factor.
That is, interesting I did not consider that 🤔
Are we just ignoring the tiny hand 14:23 lmao
😲😳😳😳 the clam has been around forever, so sorry
what about a gyre behind the acro/sps rock? you wouldn't even see it.
Omg I loved that clam 😭
What happened to your old Shiba?
Solution to clams death: get more corals. Ah that solution solves many problems.
One of Mine also died starting this year. Also just in like 1 day:(
Color is definitely from the moonshine 🍻🦉
Brisstleworms get into the base through the foot. You would never see it or know it.
What’s your list of fish is it 16 in there?
@14:25... what happened to your hand?!? 😂😂😂 I nearly wet myself! 😂😂😂
how long is a clam's lifespan because 3 years from petco seems like a good deal
So sad...ive lost so many clams. I keep buying small ones and they never make it more than 6 months tops. What’s going on man??... that’s your clam!
I hope he kept the shell of the clam.
is that gsp on the far left ?
Oh man!!!!
Hate those frag plugs left in the tank
Nero 3 if you want a board flow that won’t tear corals
Nero 5*
R.I.P. $50 Petco clam.

@@InappropriateReefer LOL I'll definitely try that new one. Btw I'm so glad you keep uploading!!!! I've watched you forever!!!!!
AHHHHHHHHHHHH did anyone else notice the little hand?? 14:25 but also sry to hear bro :(
Noooo the clam😔
Clams suffer for a while before they recede into their shells. Think of something that went wrong in the past months.
This clam definitely went through a lot the last 3 months during the whole Dino / Nutrient swing ordeal. 🤔
Don’t think they located in nyc ?
Poop! You are absolutely right, let me make that correction. I made the same location mistake last time too 😅
I think you should let one of us name the puppy🙂
Rip clam
pyramid snails?
Sorry mate

Hey Mok-Yi, I'll pay you for the shipping if you'll send me a BUNCH of those Asterina Starfish for my Harlequin!!!
Ha!! I was so tired of plucking those starfish out that I am looking into adding a Harlequin Shrimp and then passing him around locally...
Name the dog Rusty!
Hi ;)
Name the puppy fozzy.
💔
Wish they would ship to israel
No one ships here and shops got shitty corals with high prices
My frogfish died today :( is name was bob
Rip clam :(
Really sorry to hear this... RIP Bob, he is probably fishing w/ Mochi up there.
