    David, thank you for the well informed mini video class on how to TLC the Fairy Tale Catus. I’m going to give it try and transplant mine. Thanks!

      Thank you very much for your comment. Now would be a good time to transplant so it can adapt to its new pot before the Fall comes. You don't want to do it in August. Remember that the pot should be just slightly larger than the last pot you had.
      The one I transplanted has put on some really nice new growth. It's pretty amazing how fast it responded. It's outside now and we've had a lot of rain, and it is quite happy.

    Hello, thanks for a nice video!
    But true Acanthocereus tetragonus is a large forest cactus, resembling e.g. Harrisia or Hylocereus.
    This "Fairy Castle" is a garden form of Cereus peruvianus ( = hildmannianus = uruguayense).
    Best regards, Antti (more than 40 years with cacti)

      Thank you very much. Didn't know it was in the Cereus family. I'll edit the description. Interestingly enough I just posted a video of, another member of the Cereus family: Night Blooming Cereus.

    Your Fairy Tail Cactus is stunning. I own a similar one, but it appears quite yellow. It seems to be suffering from underwatering. How often should I water during the winter?

    • @davidsilver6253
      @davidsilver6253  6 месяцев назад +2

      If it is turning yellow, it is getting too much water, but some yellow color is expected during the Winter. During the Winter, it should be getting as much sun as possible. I have mine under grow lights because I don't have enough sun for it indoors even though it gets some morning sun. Do not fertilize in the Winter months.
      It should be bone dry between watering. Since it is a succulent, it will need more water than a cactus, so keep that in mind. Under my conditions, I only water twice a month. I water just enough for the water to run through the pot (which is quite quickly) and then stop. It gets a very, very quick drink. If you have a saucer for it, be sure to water in the sink and after it finishes draining, you can put it back on the saucer.
      I hope that helps.

      @@davidsilver6253 thank you so much for your wise advise! I’ll make sure to follow your advice to not fertilize it during the winter and only water once the soil is dry. Very helpful!

    Thanks for the video I cant find why it turns brown as somebody give me a tiny one with brown spots on top so my guess is not a fungus thanks again

      If the tips are turning brown, it is too much water. Cut back. Also, be sure to give plenty of sun.

    Can this cactus handle direct sunlight

    Do they come in different colors. I seen someone selling a pink one?

    • @davidsilver6253
      @davidsilver6253  8 месяцев назад

      The Fairy Castle cactus will come either a pale green with some yellows or a solid green. If there is a pink color on the one you saw, most likely it was some other cactus that was grafted on to the Fairy Castle cactus. That graft will eventually fall off.

    What size pot is that?

    • @davidsilver6253
      @davidsilver6253  Месяц назад

      Six inch pot. Always repot to the very next size up. You wouldn't want to go from a 4" to an 8" for example.
