Fantastic video and really beautiful and healthy looking Trichocereus hybrids that you are repotting, Jeff! 🥰🌵🌺And THANK YOU so much for the shout out and kind words about my channel, truly appreciated!!! Thanks for sharing and hope you have a great weekend! Happy growing!! 👍💚😊🌵🪴🌵🌸🏵🌺
They look great! You might find it helpful cut the top off of a large vitamin bottle, or some other plastic container. Cut at an angle so you can easily scoop soil, and have better control filling a pot around a plant with it. It's free, and reuses the plastic container, which makes it much better than spending money on a specialty cup for scooping soil.
I bought a pretty little cactus on sale the other day, and it's super tight in a 2 inch pot. So I've been researching how to pot cacti by watching RUclips videos. I'm happy that I ran across yours and I have subscribed, which I haven't done with any of the others I've watched. I look forward to seeing more of your videos. Thank you for all of this priceless information!

Good job - they are so cute! At your recommendation, I’ve been using Molly mixtures and absolutely love them. They are good quality and very convenient for those of us with limited plant supply storage. Thoroughly enjoy all your videos!
Fab repotting video Jeff! I had no idea Saskatchewan has native cacti...must be amazing seeing them in their natural habitat. The columnar cacti are fascinating, and the blooms on the Trichos are so dramatic with their size & intense colours. Looking forward to the individual placement trial for these three to see how they fare :)
Thank you for the video on prickly pickles, I know this question is off topic but I repotted my jade plant, scraped off some on the old dirt & new soil was 1/2 potting soil & 1/2 succulent product, now my jades leaves are wilting 😢, should I repot it again with only succulent product? Thank you for any replies
Jeff I love watching you work your magic. Is terra cotta best for 🌵? If I purchase one in a 4 inch nursery pot would I need to repot in a 4 inch terra cotta or upsize because spring is right here? Also, does the terra cotta pot need more than the one hole or will the one drainage hole be ok?
Hello! Only upsize the pot if it needs it. I love terracotta, especially for larger pots, because they allow the soil moisture to draw out much faster than compared to a plastic pot.
My grandma who caused my cacti trauma had one bigger than me as a kid... Anyway, when it would attack her she would get out the sharp stiff spines then she would use packing tape over the area to pull out any of the hairs!
Thank you for the tip about soaking the terracotta pot before planting. I've never heard about that method and I've been into my cacti hobby for a year now. I'll definitely be doing that from here on out. :)
Glochids are pretty much why I stopped getting opuntia 😬 I found duct tape to be a good method to get them out, though! Also, if you ever feel like it, I think a video about root mealybugs would be very helpful. There isn't that much information about them out there and many people don't even know they exist, let alone how difficult they can be to get rid of (wish that were me).
I bought my first cacti last year and all the info online said do not water in winter. I know they store water but I was still afraid they would die if I gave them no water at all. I gave them a bit of water, not very often and they’re fine and growing. Do you water yours in winter? I had no idea we have native cacti in Canada. This video is very helpful. Thanks Jeff.
Loving your videos! I recently transplanted my haworthia (zebra plant) from a plastic container to a terra cotta and it has declined. It seems to dry out so quickly I have to water about every other day. I didn't realize this at first. Surprisingly this plant was in a plastic dish with no drainage holes (part of those cute diy's of succulent platters I did years ago) for 6 years and it has thrived. I recently put it in terra cotta pot a couple of months ago and now the tips are dry and they're starting to curl :( . Terra cotta just doesn't seem to be working well for me so now I'm afraid to put anything in them.
just repotted 7 new super dry cactus in terracotta pots , gave them a bit of water in succulent soil with extra perlite..hope the watering part is ok ?
I take mine outside when the night time temps are consistently above 10 Celsius (50 Fahrenheit) and I'll place them in full shade....slowly acclimate them to higher light
A spot outside during summer and a cool spot in winter is almost a prerequisite for many cacti and other succulents if you want healthy, compact growth over many years. You'd need a very sunny windowsill if you want to keep them inside all year.
You put so much information in your videos. As a new plant owner, you give lots of helpful information. You dont leave out any information, even if you “talk non-stop”. For those who are really listening and appreciate you, keep doing what you’re doing!

Oh hey, Joe! Thanks for watching!
They look real nice in their own pots and the terra cotta is so pretty with them! It's hard to believe they were all in one pot!
Ya, they were pretty snug in there.
I love repotting my cactus. It’s always a mission especially big beefy ones. I use old pair of jeans where tongs won’t work.
it's so relaxing watching you work. They look so much better in their own pots.
Thanks Lynn....they were definitely needing a new pot.

Nicely done Jeff! Looking fwd to updates on the lighting differences.

Exactly what type of cactus is this and is it good to grow indoors?

That is such a great method and you are now the second person to mention this lol
You can use a charge card to scrap those very fine cactus needles from your skin. It works for me. 😊 🌵
@@idahabbershon9443 nice! 👍
Lol, spicy pickles 😅 I want that blue cactus, and I have no idea what it's called! I think I will after it warms up and keep it on my deck.

Love that shirt 🤣❤️
Great video, a trick I use to get rid of the fine thorns is a little bit of warm wax, wait for it to cool down and pull it off...works very well
Congrats on the new Beefs. They look great. I have been into cacti lately
I’m from Saskatchewan as well and love my cactus’s
Jeff just started the video but where did you get the T-shirt?
I love terra-cotta, great ASMR listening to them suck up water.
Hello! Thanks for watching and I got the shirt from Tropics Narcotics

I separated my 3head trichocerius...😢 BUT.. Im looking forward to watching them grow separated❤❤
Mine never bloomed. Maybe needs direct light?
If you get one of those invisible thorns stuck in your skin… try masking tape to remove it
Oh ya.....that would work sweet! Thanks for the tip!
"you know I love pencils"
Pictures you getting all excited for back to school to go by plant products at a good price 🤣
😆🥰
They are from my kids school supply packs hahahaha
Very informative video 📹 👍, you inspire me to be a better plant parent got me using pencils...they work lol

Can cacti be left outside then? I’m in Oklahoma.

A lot of that fluffy stuff could be styrofoam that a lot of soil bags have. It fooled me! 😀
Yes! I've had this too
