    I literally rewinded this in the original video and took in the information. Got off my couch immediately and went to the range. I ended up having the best range session of my life, struck 200 balls and still didn’t want to leave. This is some no BS tips and has put Min Woo Lee much higher on my favorite pro player list. I beg everyone to try this with their swing! I certainly wasn’t disappointed

    One of the best lessons I've ever gotten is exactly what Minwoo was saying...
    1) get the feeling that you're "pushing the club/hands away" from the body during backswing - creating separation while turning your hips/body
    2) have the right elbow feel as though it's pointing straight down to the ground (if you want to exaggerate - to your right foot toes)

  • @georgeyod286
    @georgeyod286 9 месяцев назад +19

    Basically Garret’s right arm needed more width. Min is saying create more width but at the same time don’t make your right shoulder go into an internal rotation on the backswing cuz it’ll have that “chicken wing” look. If you have a chicken wing with your right arm, you’ll have to manipulate your arms to try and shallow the club. Your right shoulder needs to externally rotate while creating width. One of Tiger’s tips many years ago he said to push the butt end of the club far away from your body during the backswing

    Great lesson..completely agree. However, nicklaus had a flying right elbow that worked out well for him so there's that as well. My theory on the golf swing is that there's ideal and realistic. YOUR swing is somewhere on that spectrum but you've got to find it..that's the challenge!

    The steep backswing of Minwoo is something I emulated and got some very positive results. I used to have the soft spaghetti backswing of the pupil in this video. Awesome lesson! BTW, my swing thought on my backswing is to think of Tommy Nakajima... not sure if any of you remember him, but he had a similar steep backswing that Minwoo has.

    Such a simple swing thought.

    • @AdamIsMyNameO
      @AdamIsMyNameO 9 месяцев назад +20

      The ‘connection’ thing isn’t the same though. Garrett keeps connection between his arms, what Min Woo is saying is to create width, but his forearms are still close together/connected.

    • @AlabamaGolfer
      @AlabamaGolfer 9 месяцев назад +12

      @@AdamIsMyNameO there are tons of people who are adamant about keeping that right arm connected to the body. From Ben Hogan to the dozens of people who make RUclips videos about keeping a headcover squeezed under your armpit during the backswing.

    • @AdamIsMyNameO
      @AdamIsMyNameO 9 месяцев назад +4

      @@AlabamaGolfer I’ve never once seen or heard that. When I watch the top players on the world, none of them have contact between the trail arm and the upper body in a full swing.

    • @AdamIsMyNameO
      @AdamIsMyNameO 9 месяцев назад +5

      @@AlabamaGolfer I think you’re mistaking an arm connection with avoiding depth. Min Woo is trying to create depth. The drill of keeping something in your armpits is to avoid having the right arm flare open, but that’s a separate issue.

    • @AlabamaGolfer
      @AlabamaGolfer 9 месяцев назад +2

      @@AdamIsMyNameO don’t get me wrong, I don’t disagree with him. I think there’s enough history of different golf swings that have proven effective to show there’s more than one way to skin a cat. However, there’s many golfers who will go to great lengths to criticize excess separation of the trail arm like MWL is suggesting. Most recently, I engaged in a discussion with some on one of Golfslump’s video where they were giving him crap for having too much separation during his backswing tutorial.
      It’s not a big deal to me; I’m terrible at golf lol. I was surprised by the fervor these people demonstrated on the subject as you seem to be. After all, Ben Hogan said it, so that was gospel according to them. 🤷
