  • Hi everyone. I have put together a build video for my "Hydrotherapy" prop since I have had a lot of people asking for one. If you have not seen the original prop please check out the video here:
    𝗛𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿: www.hauntnation...
    • Animated Mad Scientist...
This prop was built for the Haunt Nation "Hacked" prop contest. The contest required the build be done with 8-10 pre-determined items which I list in the beginning of the video.
Because of the nature of the prop and the complexity of the build, this video is more of an outline of the techniques I used and the steps involved in the build, more than a straight forward tutorial.
This should help others who want to build any similar props and I will try my best to answer any questions people may have about the build. I will also release future videos focusing on single techniques used in this build which can be applied to any type of Mad Scientist or Steampunk prop builds people want to do.
Techniques I used in the build:
    1. Wood texture to metal and rust build up with Wood Filler Max and Iron B paint.
    2. Making a mold and casting faux bolts for props in liquid resin / Easy Flo 60.
    3. Adding bubble effects to a prop via an Air Stone.
    4. Painting and weathering corrosion on faux copper / bronze parts.
    5. Adding lighting to props via Christmas Lights.
    6. Making a custom foam carving tool for pool noodles.
    7. Making plywood waterproof through the use of liquid plastic.
    8. Accenting props by Kit Bashing parts from models.
    9. Creating faux metal effects on props using dry brush techniques.
    10. Adding Plexiglass and Diffusion filters to enhance your prop lighting.
    11. Corpsing plastic eyeballs for props.
    12. Using plastic resin to reinforce weak materials in your props.

This blows be away - I need to bookmark this video URL as a glossary of 3 dozen or more techniques I should explore! It's kind of a shame so much of that great detail seems obscured in the dark!

+Attic Hatch Thanks!! I'm actually going to be setting up a better spot to film some of my new videos and will have this prop in the background so I can get some additional footage of it in better light! I'll keep you posted!

Absolutely Killer job! Very detailed! I Love it! How did you control your lighting though? I see where you said it was christmas lights and blacklight and green flashlights but how did you wire those up?

    • @MadCityHaunt
      @MadCityHaunt  10 лет назад

Thanks David, the Christmas lights are a cheap set I found on Amazon that flash in various patterns. They have a control box which you can select the patterns from. The 2 flashlights I am using are battery powered. I did the same thing with another prop for the Mad Lab. The plan is once I have all the props built to remove the battery powered lights and replace them with the 12v LED setups people use to light their yard haunts so I can run all (most) of the prop lighting off of 1 outlet. (The effects will still require power. For example the air pump for this prop.)

New Sub here! LOVED this prop! I wished I had video of my old props I've done in the past. I've been trying to think of a 'center-piece' prop for my Dr's room, I think I've found some inspiration. Thank you for posting!

+rouimet Hi Rouimet, I actually picked them up at Menards here in Wisconsin. They have quite a good selection of odds and ends for pipe fittings. You might be able to order through their website if you are unable to track down the pieces you need.
