  • Welcome to this tutorial on uploading a published Articulate Storyline or Adobe Captivate course to the web using Vercel and GitHub without any complex code. In this video, we will show you how to make your course viewable by anyone outside of a learning management system (LMS), making it easy for instructional designers and eLearning developers to showcase their work for their portfolios.
    First, we will use GitHub to host our published Storyline course. GitHub is a popular hosting platform for software development projects, but it's also an excellent tool for storing web files. We will create a repository for our course and upload the published files.
    Next, we will use Vercel to deploy our course. Vercel is a cloud platform for static sites and serverless functions. It provides a fast and easy way to deploy and host web projects. We will link our GitHub repository to Vercel, and our course will be live on the web in just a few clicks.
    In addition to being an excellent tool for deploying and hosting web projects, Vercel is also known for being more straightforward to use than other cloud platforms like AWS. With Vercel, you don't need to worry about infrastructure or server maintenance, as the platform handles everything.
    Vercel also offers an intuitive and user-friendly interface, making it easier to navigate and use than AWS. For example, Vercel has a simple drag-and-drop interface for deploying projects, while AWS can require more technical expertise to get started.
    Another benefit of using Vercel is its fast deployment times. Vercel uses a unique "atomic" deployment system, which means that updates to your project are deployed instantly without any downtime or disruption to your users.
    Vercel provides a simple, fast, and easy-to-use platform for deploying and hosting web projects. It is an excellent choice for instructional designers and eLearning developers who want to showcase their work.
    So, suppose you're an instructional designer or eLearning developer looking to publish your Articulate Storyline course. This tutorial will show you how to do it quickly and easily using Vercel and GitHub. Let's get started!

    Hey Jeff - this is a *fantastic* tip, sir! Great explanation and resource!!
    I tried this with a Rise export though, with no luck. Have you been able to replicate this with a Rise export?

      You might have to point to another file rather than the story.html file. I think it may just be index.html but would need to check. It should work though.

    We were literally looking for other ways to host Articulate project samples. We use AWS to host 360 environments and client eLearning files. Had the same thought that there must be a better/easier way to host the project samples rather than on S3. Stopping that and going to do this. Thanks!

      Are you meaning like Rise 360? I use Storyline in this tutorial which is part of Articulate 360 so wondering if you are talking about the Rise tool. You export to web within the tool and then take the package and upload to GitHub like you do with the Storyline file but just point to a different file. But Rise also has the Share link without review so you could do that too.

    I have a microsite where I host the content. Again issue with google microsite is data protection as it is susceptible to downloads. Is there a possibility to host video/scorm file in github and tag it in microsite.

    • @LearningDojo

    Have you tested any articulate files containing links or
    Embedded documents (as in
    The resource tab)? AWS always gave me issues with those.

    • @LearningDojo
      @LearningDojo  Год назад

      It may depend on how you are linking to those files, it is something to test for sure. I will try it out.

    • @LearningDojo
      @LearningDojo  Год назад

      I would assume it works better than AWS since AWS you have to enable permissions on all the buckets and Vercel works much more like regular web hosting.

  • @guizot2010
    @guizot2010 Год назад

    You mention at the end that it's possible to do this with something like Godaddy and FTP. I have a server like that, but I haven't been able to make it work like you show here. Is Vercel still necessary? How does one do this if one has one's own FTP server?

    • @LearningDojo
      @LearningDojo  Год назад +1

      So it is more complex for sure. You have to get the FTP connection info and use an app like CyberDuck to connect to your server. Or you go into their CPanel and upload from there. I do this whenever I update my website. So I buy a URL, I then get the FTP connection info, I place my website files on my website which in this case would be my published Storyline file. It is not as easy as Vercel but that is doable. I may do this kind of video in the future but you may need to reach out to GoDaddy support.
