Thanks! will do.. glad it can provide inspiration for anyone to get their stuff painted.. am almost tempted to take down the older videos with unpainted models!!
Great Batrep. I think you have probably spotted the few mistakes you made during the game. I always spot my own around turn 4, when its too late! Horse Artillery can move and unlimber, or limber and move for one action. Columns get +1 for being in that formation and French get an additional +1 for Pas D'Charge in Assault Column. Units within a Brigade can group move if they start and end in contact, in the same formation for all units. Otherwise they move individually and you test for each group, or unit seperately. All orders within a Brigade, must be issued if possible, before moving to next Brigade and then hopefully, the CinC can help any units that have been missed. Only saying all this, as I noticed a few people mentioning the rules and how they worked. Great figures and setup and I think we will use this scenario for our battle this coming Sunday. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Ken. its sad, we haven't played much lately with people on Deployment, but with the new book coming out, we should get more games in. Have you had a chance to try the new rules by chance?
Not yet, but we do have all of the Army books, like Albion Triumphant and I think that all of the suggestions they included in those, are now incorporated into the new rules. So should be pretty similar hopefully!
We are trying out Black Powder 2 today, so that should be fun. They have really changed the power of the General/CinC, also skirmishers and evade, as well as a better overall description of the rules with diagrams. I have knocked out a quick reference sheet, so it includes a lot more detail than the one they gave. Page 49 is a bit of a mix up, so ignore the charts there, as one is mislabeled! But overall, looks like a great update!
@@hellonearth-thehistoryofwa1270 For sure. I have just had about a year straight of articles for No Dice No Glory, or other 15mm events to paint for, my Badeners need reinforcements :)
Had another view of this batrep. Always nice to watch such beautiful figures on a well presented table. Once again found the Black Powder rules a bit disappointing. The brigades are barely in contact, wham, bam, and they're failing morale tests and it's all over. I guess I've been spoilt by Sharp Practice, where you can almost feel the huge musketry volleys with all the dice that get thrown, and the shock markers and smoke that the firing generates; then you can see the officer figures scurrying about, playing a vital role in controlling the battle, attempting to remove 'shock' and trying to stop things falling into disorder and inaction. SP is a bit slower but it's vastly more satisfying as a game. If there were a "Big" version of Sharp Practice I think my search for a new rule set would be over. (Not yet seen a good play-thru of General de Brigade, but that's next on my list.)
Yeah when Scott comes back from Deployment we plan on playing more BP and I think he picked up Sharp Practice at Salute 2018.. so we'll give that a go :)
Not sure how many men each represents, but we have based our battalions to be 24 figures in each, 36 for 'large' battalions, and we went with 12 mounted figures for any horse units.
Was thinking of trying Blackpowder as I need some quickplay rules for Napoleonics to replace my ageing WRG 1685+ rules. But I find the casualty and morale test system rather dull, and command/control almost non-existent. Especially dislike dice for tracking things like shock. Is it more realistic than other systems? Not at all convinced. Also 1 gun = 1 battery seems unrealistic. Surely needs a minimum of 2 to represent all the paraphernalia of an artillery train?
Here is the thing with Black Powder, is its very modular. In most of the supplements they actually recommend 2 guns for one battery, 1 gun for half batteries, but we opted for one gun = 1 battery, primarily because of model inventory and also because we don;t play on the giant tables the Perry Twins have (which are all over the books) As for 'realistic' its very fluid, and they have tried to keep the tokens/upkeep to a minimum since there are tonnes of other rulesets that have all that. We have since moved to Shaken and Disorder tokens, and I know Scott has bought some wound trackers, but we won;t get to see that until he comes back from overseas deployment
Good to hear about the 2-model battery update. I’m thinking of modding whatever rules I eventually settle on to use the casualty markers favoured in Blackpowder. Only problem is I can barely gather a dozen infantry casualties and a dozen dead cavalry horses from my spares box.
Hi @@sirrathersplendid4825 . You don't need casualty figures. If you have been using WRG you can just remove a figure for hits. That's what I intend to do. So you just need disordered markers.
Where do you play at? I have a small army. Of French with Polish Legion de la Vistule 1810-1813. I would love to play with you. They are mini figs 25 mm. has any one ever set up and played over inter net?
Im slightly confused, from having skimmed through the book, I cant find any hint of a point system, so how did you come up with a 500 point armies? if you can remember.
Nice to see some Black Powder battle reports out there. Nice looking table and models as well. How do you guys like the rule set? I enjoy Hail Caesar a lot and I'd assume this has the same feel as most of Warlords games.
HIgher ground does matter, for guns, they can fire over friendly and enemy troops, and also, if you are defending a hilltop, you get a bonus as well (don;t have the book at hand..so not sure what page thats on)
Vicrix are also a good source for 28mm Napoleonic Infantry and Artillery. Although we find that larger 25mm works fine too if mixed in, or any 25mm, if the whole Brigade is the same manufacturer. Warlord have a good selection, as they produce the rules set too, but Perry gives you more figures and variety in their boxes. So between all three, you can cover almost any unit of the main protagonists and with a little conversion/paintwork, most of the minor Nations too!
NICE GUYS .....KEEP THEM COMING ...IF YOU GUYS NEED 28MM NAPS PLASTIC I HAVE ALOT AND 20MM NAPS ..CHEAP JUST ASK WHAT NATION YA NEED ECT....K LATER JOHN
"wife agro" - haha, know the feeling! It's why I only play when she's away...
Albion was indeed triumphant, Huzzah! Great batrep.
Enjoyed this report thanks. You've helped win me over to Black Powder.
Hah good to hear, its a good system (when compared to the 6 hour long games other rules sometimes produces) :)
Well done - what a fantastic battle report! Very enjoyable to watch. Your minis are beautiful! Keep them coming!
Thanks! will do.. glad it can provide inspiration for anyone to get their stuff painted.. am almost tempted to take down the older videos with unpainted models!!
Thanks will do!
I like the terrain! Well done on the presentation.
Good game and fun to watch....nice game room too.
7:20 "Although charging guns is probably not a good idea, because I'll get 2x cannister shot."
"Yeah no shit."
holy shit I laughed so damn hard lmao

Always nice to see two commonwealth guys having a drink, a fight, and a chinwag.
Yep, it was good times. Actually, tonite picked up the pieces to make a Confederation of the Rhine regiment or 3.... stay tuned!

Maby You should try Waterloo Warhammer Historical.
so how many models in a British battelion and how many in a French batt. How many men does 1 model represent? thanks

8x12 table? Maybe the perspective is just off. I thought it looked more like 8x8 or so?
its 2 of Scott's 6 by 4s pushed together.. so yeah youre right, my math is off, its 8 by 6
