You can find the Canon R8 right here through my affiliate link. It cost you nothing extra but helps support this channel with a small commission: amzn.to/3YuSIrk

I bought my R8 when it first came out and it was two "firsts" for me - my first full-frame camera and my first mirrorless. I love the confident AF system, the great low-light capabilities and superb IQ, all in such a lightweight body. So affordable, but such a POWERHOUSE! It's great for wildlife, landscapes, portraits and pretty much anything I want to throw at it. Like you, I use the back screen as my joystick and that works really well. I tend to shoot at 20fps for wildlife as 40 is way more than I find necessary and I prefer the deeper buffer of 20.
Thanks for posting this video. This camera deserves all the love it can get. It's an amazing value for the money.

@@jeffgaboury3157 I agree! And yeah the 20 fps is my go to for most thing’s. Birds in flight or fishing herons I tend to go for 40, but that’s a lot of photos and it does fill the buffer fast. Thanks for the comment.

@@BrentTouchstone You're welcome. I've tried the 40fps when I got the camera, but still find the 20 more than adequate. Even the 10fps of my 7D Mark II is great for most things. As a matter of fact, I'd love to be able to "dial in" a frame rate, the way you can on the new R5 Mark II and R1 (and the way you could on my 7D Mark II, way back in 2014!!!??!!). If the R8 had that, I'd probably choose a happy median of 15fps, preferring a longer burst over the more fps. It's a photographer's choice and I'm surprised it's taken this long for Canon to bring this very logical and reasonable feature back to the fore again.
Anyway, great video! Keep on shooting. I loved your samples!

i have bought R8 few days back and I am learning the menus. I had once used canon 5d mark iv and first thing that struck me was its image quality..It was so clean and colour were so soothing to the eyes..I am not sure if R8 image quality is of that level or not.

I’ve never used the 5d mark iv. My father has it and loves it. I used a 6d for years and loved that camera even though it was considered a budget camera. I hope you like the R8.

I have seen some of your videos and I have found them very useful. If you could tell which lenses you have used and which you liked most while using this camera

Thanks! I’ve mainly used the RF35mm 1.8 and the kit lens 24-105 5.6-8. Also for wildlife the RF100-400. I just purchased the new 28-70 2.8. I’ll be taking it out this weekend :)
