Such beautiful birds ! Absolutely wonderful that they get the chance to hunt and fly in the open ! Stunning flight patterns too in such tight corners !
Thank you so much for this video. It is absolutley fascinating what you do professionally and to have this window into your work is appreciated. Hearing you express your own gratitude to able to do what you do is heartwarming. Thank you!!!
Thank you very much! Those are very kind words. I do feel grateful for the job I have and for the relationship I have with the raptors. Between my family and career My Cup Overflows. I find all of nature fascinating and don't understand why more people are not enamoured with the natural world.
I really enjoy your videos. I hope you produce some more content. I would love to learn about each of your birds along with the good and bad. I’m a first year apprentice and I’m trying to learn everything I can. Thanks for the video you have done.
Thank you for the kind comment. I have a number of videos planned, but the time to edit them is my biggest hold up. As this is just a hobby for me and it falls after all my other responsibilities. Falconry is one of my greatest passions in life. I was fortunate to learn about it when I was a boy and be able to enter my own apprenticeship as soon as I moved out on my own. Much like life, falconry is about enjoying the journey not the destination.
I've just watched several Aplomado videos, and they seem to be really very interesting...they seem to be almost "social", will ride along on the vehicle window, and just blast off after something, and they look incredibly persistent at going after prey, flying through buildings, trees, more like a goshawk's abilities, but in a much smaller package. As per your video, they seem to be good "worker's", and even fun! Thanks for a nice look at these guys in action! BTW, we have red-tailed kites, and a few kestrels in our area, I love to see that hovering/diving, and the kites just cruise the hillside breeze and thermals, so nice to see.. cheers, all the best in the New Year!
Aplomados have a lot of behaviour similarities to the Harris Hawk. These larger hawks are a Parabuteo and are quit remarkable themselves. They are also utilized in abatement and falconry where their natural and rare "gregarious" nature can be capitalized upon. The dynamics of the Harris Hawks family group is similar to a pack of wolves and is not yet fully understood.
Great video! As an avid birdwatcher i am curious, are the males better doing this kind of work or are females better? I've heard that with raptors the females are bigger and can be more moody. 😅
Thank you for the compliments and the kick in the butt! The videos didn't exactly stop as I film for much of the Summer and Fall, however I am a busy person and don't have a lot of time to edit. This is a hobby for me and comes after responsibilities and other passions. I do have some projects in the works and hope to have more videos out soon.
