Bonjour cher chasseur d'images. POTASH ROAD quel magnifique et sublime paysage. merci pour ce voyage dans cette belle région de L' UTAH et les prises de vues grandioses, j'adore. une fan de MARSEILLE FRANCE.
Been through Moab on the way to SLC but never through here, Don’t think my Big Truck would make it, but thank you so much, I’m retired from trucking and in the comfort of my room watching this, So Beautiful 😊❤️
Mountain biked this WAY back in the mid 90s. Rode along the White Rim trail, then down Shafer which is just stunning. Then left under Dead Horse Point to Potash road and up into Moab. Nearly killed me. Brutal ride, way longer than we were expecting. But absolutely beautiful.
My buddy and I arrived in Moab on day 6 of our 10 day adventure bike ride. It was late October this year a week before it turned cold. We left Arches NP and turned down Potash Rd. I thought I died and went to heaven. Unfortunately, I was out of gas down by the power plant and we never turned onto dirt. Thanks for sharing what I missed!!!
Ahh, that’s a huge bummer! The route was fun enough in our SUV, would’ve loved to have done it on my KLX 230 dual sport bike. What kind of bike do you have?
That road is in better shape than when I drove it many moons ago. It is a great bit of adventure particularly to start at the upper end of Shafer Trail.
Did Potash Road, down the Shafer Trail, completed the White Rim trail over two days( camping overnight in my tent) in a Rental new Jeep Cherokee in 2002. Oldtimer Englishman reliving past adventures.
Olá, que lugar lindo, um céu mais lindo ainda, gostaria de estar aí, agradecendo a Deus tanta perfeição, que Deus te abençõe, um ótimo final de semana.

Wonderful 4WD drive, great landscapes on the way. Was great to see it virtually, as I won't be able to drive with an RV on such roads, during my planned roadtrip through West USA. I will be in Moab though to see Arches NP. Thanks for the video, greetings from a roadtripper from Germany!
Amazing views! I plan to drive on Potash with my 2023 Crosstrek in March/April this year. Looking forward to it. We were at Moab and Canyonlands a few years ago.
I unexpectedly drove this very road. After camping overnight in Canyonlands, on the way out of the park, the next morning, I saw Shafer Canyon Rd road and decided to drive it down into the canyon, and then I just kept going all the way to Moab. It ranks as one of my favorite times ever in a National Park. We were also in a stock SUV, and we only saw 1 or 2 other cars on the road that day.
Another spot on my to-do list. I haven't explored Eastern Utah, yet. I'm going to arrange a road trip from Michigan to Canyonland. Probably in 2024. This year I'm driving to New Mexico
@AdventureEveryDay White Sands NP, Lincoln NF, UFO Museum, Elephant Butte Dam, Gila NF, Western NM Museum, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Four Corners NM and hopefully Monument Valley in AZ before I head home I'm open to any suggestions!
@AdventureEveryDay lol sounds like a plan. I'm driving my 17-year old truck there. Her name is Goldie. She has 400k under her belt. I hope she doesn't leave me stranded in the middle of the desert 😅
@@thatmichiganguy Hopefully she’ll hold up, just be sure you keep plenty of water on hand in case something does happen and you get stranded out in the desert 🏜️
Just like the comments I left for your Canyonlands NP vid a couple of weeks ago, once again I was in awe at the rock color and I am eagerly awaiting the day I can get back out there because I want to do the White Rim Trail as well as go thru Pucker Pass. In your opening seconds (and repeated again at the 2:25 mark), it took me about three seconds to remember that site. Too many positives about that experience to mention here but one if not probably the only negative I recall was the condition of the road, with that underlying road I had to slow down to 5 MPH or so unless I liked banging my head into the door jam. There were several locations like this once getting past the switchbacks coming down but the worse one I recall started at the 11:25 mark for several minutes. Should I drive this again, I believe I'll wear a bike helmet until I get to the potash ponds. Once again, great video !
@@ogFIEND I envy you, your presence in that area. I do count the time period as to when I can make it out that way again. Watching other videos for that area, I have more areas on the list to do. What are you driving?

Hi Guys, loving your work, we will be here in May 23, will that be a good time to drive this road? We hope to have 4 or 5 nights in Moab, relaxing and exploring. We will have a Dodge Ram. 🇺🇸🌵🏴
May should be a great time to visit Moab and do some off-roading. Weather can start to get a bit warm already in late May, but hopefully it won't be too bad for your visit. Thanks for watching! Enjoy your trip!
WIll an AWD with moderate ground clearance, like Forester/Outback Wilderness, be able to make it through the entire trail? Or is a 4Runner/Wrangler type 4x4 body-on-frame SUV a must?
Can’t say for sure, our Audi Q5 had pretty decent ground clearance, but our aftermarket tow hitch scraped the ground two different times. Plus the conditions of the trail vary. If you decide to try it, just go slow, having a spotter is a great idea, and be prepared to turn around if you come across an impasse.
Potash Road is longer and not as smooth as the Monument Valley loop drive. Both are impressive and definitely worth seeing in person. Here's a the link for our video of the drive through Monument Valley: ruclips.net/video/tEhrLr3ETyI/видео.html
No, we can’t recommend trying it without all wheel drive. Ground clearance in a minivan could be an issue as well. You should be able to do Shafer Canyon no problem though.
We did this drive in July. There may be times of year when the road doesn't go all the way through to Moab, but can't say for sure. Weather conditions will also play a big role in the drivability of this road as well.

We certainly don't recommend anyone attempt this in a normal car, especially one without 4x4. The park rangers don't recommend it either. Shafer Canyon Road, yes, but not Potash Road. Maybe you can force a normal car through the trail, but you're risking severe damage to your car. Getting towed out will cost at least $1,500, not to mention there's little to no cell signal to even call a wrecker. The tow hitch on our Audi Q5 SUV bottomed out and scraped twice along this trail, and that was with an experienced spotter and carefully picking our lines in difficult areas. Bad idea for most tourists.
I would say you could probably do the Shafer Canyon switchbacks in a normal car, but don't recommend Potash Road in anything but a 4x4 with decent ground clearance.
A permit is not required for Potash Road. Some other roads in Canyonlands do require permits, so it's always best to research the trail you want to drive/hike/bike ahead of time.
Watching this while walking on my Treadmill. Feels like I'm enjoying the outdoors.
