Hard to blame him but must expand w 2 strikes because of so many bad calls. 1. Paredes 2. Bellinger 3. Busch 4. Hoerner Paredes honestly hasn’t showed me much more than Morel has, don’t believe it would haunt them at all to trade him. Especially with Shaw being on the edge of moving up to the bigs. I like Bellinger personally especially because he’s very expendable with his positions and playing very solid defense in those spots. He’s a lefty bat and all. If the money is cleared up and we don’t have to eat a lot of it I get why he’d get traded cause we’d get a player and money opened up. 3. Busch is young and has lived up to my expectations at first base. I personally don’t think he’d be great at 2nd like people are saying so I don’t think he’s as expendable with positions as people say he might be. Just keep him at first base because he’s shown he can be a gold glove contender each year moving forward. When it comes to trading him I thinks he got a lot of value. Would I like to move him? Most likely no. 4. Hoerner, I would absolutely hate to see this guy go. I think he’s one of the best contact guys or possibly the best contact guy if he’s on fire. He sprays the ball all over the field. He’s got speed and great base running skills. He’s a proven gold glove contender every year and already has one. Imagine the brewers trading Brice Turang, I view them as similar players. It would be a big mistake trading him and believe it would haunt them.
As far as position players go, I'm more excited about the young kids than any of the veterans. We've seen these same guys two years in a row be mediocre, and I'm sick of watching them. All of the veterans can go, I'm ready to see the young, exciting players, including PCA and Busch.
Sam is right on Bellinger, the best he's going to do this year would be .275 25 90 rbi Of course that's not horrible, but this team needs more than that.
It is not unreasonable or crazy to say that Shaw and Cassie could produce very close to what Bellinger and Hoerner would do plus then you land something else to help you. Let's say a Hoerner trade brings you Gilbert from Seattle. Gilbert and Shaw > Hoerner and whatever other prospects they trade to get that done.
In regards to trading...my thought is CUBS need to replace a trade prospect with IMPROVED QUALITY....PERIOD. Especially in POP with the BAT. CUBS are in desperate need of a POWER BAT. If they DON'T......then KEEP those 4 trade possibilities for offense. And improve Pitching then to achieve "90 WIN SEASON" category. Enjoy the show! jmc
Keep Bellinger, trade Paredes, Assad and/or Wicks to the Mariners for Logan Gilbert. Sign Pete Alonso, DH Susuki, package Hoerner, Amaya, Busch and their choice of 2nd tier minor league talent to the A's for Miller and Langeliers. Do this, and they'd have a lineup of: 1. Armstrong-CF, 2. Shaw-3B, 3. Happ-LF, 4. Bellinger-RF, 5. Alonso-1B, 6.Susuki-DH, 7. Swanson-SS, 8. Langeliers-C, 9. Triantos-2B. With a starting rotation of 1. Imanaga, 2. Steele, 3. Gilbert, 4. Taillon, 5. Boyd. With Miller as your shut down closer, that should get Counsell to his desired 90 to 95 wins in 2025.
If only we were the GM/Owner then it would be so easy to say Cody because we could actually spend the money elsewhere, however we have no idea if they will or not so it's tough to say you want bellinger traded.
And to even have that money to spend, somebody would have to take on his salary. I have a hard time seeing that. Sam here has some wild projections at times. I'm thinking Cody has a 23 type season next year. He's gotta stay healthy though
@@Georgeglinos-bh8wy My main worry is with his really poor batted ball metrics. I know those aren't everything, but especially last year it just seemed like he had so many uncompetitive like slap swings or whatever, and many times when he hit it well it went nowhere. Maybe I'm wrong but I want something more surefire.
1. Paredes (cause he blocks Shaw and Smith with 8m salary) 2. Hoerner (Triantos, Shaw coming up) 3. Cody ( he is the only one close to superstar on Cubs) 4. Busch (they traded J. Ferris for him and he is top 10 rookie batter) (I would not trade him unless for Soto, Vlad level superstar)
1- Paredes. Just don't see him as that good of a player, can play Matt Shaw there. He is ready! 2- Nico although he is a solid player with a good glove, this lineup needs more POP and Matt Shaw can and will provide that. 3-Bellinger although his contact isn't the greatest he still could comeback and have a year like 2023 also he adds a lot of versatility to the club and as an insurance in case PCA or Busch regresses. Would hate to see him traded just for a Salary dump. 4-Busch too much upside and team control
Obv you didn’t pay attention in class…Suzuki was not an option in this exercise, plus the fact he’s probably the best overall offensive player the team has.
1. Bellinger but the Cubs will eat $15m and get nothing of value that will help in '25. 2. Hoerner but not until he proves he's healthy enough to play SS, unless Jed settles for pennies on the dollar. Jed will believe the Central Div is for the taking at an 86 W season which won't be acheived because he won't acquire a star bat nor a #1 SP and no chance the Cubs will be 20 games over .500 in games started by Shota. Another season of living on the margins and the Reds make smart moves and with a quality mgr. win the division.
My order would be: 1) Nico 2) Paredes 3) Busch My only off-limits would be: PCA, Shaw, Caissie. I would trade the Canadian Caissie to Toronto if I could land Vlad Guerrero. It would be a feel-good story.
1. Alcantara (Holds a 40man spot and is still in High A, Would be the top guy in a Package for a Top player. 2. Tailion (He has shown he can be amazing here, but has good value in a trade and makes 17mil per which is alot for a Non 1-2, and we just paid it again to a guy with 30 good innings in Cleveland. 😅. 3. Happ or Suzuki. alot of $$$ in LF/RF, Where we need to open up a spot for Owen Cassie or 1 of the other Great OF prospects who are ready. Bellinger I think they are actually gonna get a good deal after Soto goes for Cody.
I will be happy to trade Nico Hoerner, Cody Bellinger, and Isaac Parades if we get the right people back. I'm on the fence about Busch. Also Canario needs to go. He's out of options and there's no place on the team for him.
You know what would be great to see out of Cody Bellinger.... if he stepped up and simply agreed to take less money than his contract says he should get for 2025. I know that sounds like a pie in the sky idea but there have been players that have done such honorable things for the better of their team in the past. I really like Cody but his contract is a bit of a drain on the team and he y no means produced in 2024 like be did last year. I like Happ but his consistency at the plate can be very frustrating. I know he cannot be traded but I would think we could fill his spot with someone younger and at least as consistent as him at the plate for less money. I have to say the biggest disappointment at the plate this year is Dansby Swanson. If we could trade him and get all or most of his money in return that would be great but the no trade clause kills us again. Nico Hoerner is one of the better folks that we have at the plate but he is no superstar since he is unable to produce with power. I really appreciate both Dansby and Nico in our middle infield but something has got to give to make this a playoff caliber team. Paredes and Busch could be traded but am not sure what we could get in return for either of them at this point. Busch was an incredible lift for us as he learned on the job as a rookie on how to handle first base. Paredes struggled in the beginning with the Cubs but did show improvement with the Cubs as his time with the team progressed.
It's like in bowling, being on a team, in a league, where everyone averages 150, but nobody bowls above that, you can't win just bowling your mediocre average!! You need 1 or 2 bowlers that have a 190 average, because normally in bowling, you usually bowl, at least 30 pins over your average consistently!! And Jed doesn't seek out those players!! The Cubs, are a mediocre team with a mediocre owner, and a mediocre GM, in a winnable division!!..............Unfortunately!!🙄🧐🤔😞
They kind of have to trade guys. they can't play all of them, there's no room. And they have to trade even some of the top prospects. They won't all pan out and why have a top farm system if you never turn that into mlb talent
If I HAVE to get rid of one guy, I'd put Shaw at 3rd and send Isaac and Amaya off to somewhere else. The easy answer is Nico. But no. He has stolen 95 bases with 15 caught. He hits 35 or 40 doubles a year. He strikes out 12 percent vs the avg of 22 percent. He has a gold glove at 2nd and almost had one at Short Stop. yes he does not have Marcus Simien's power but there are not alot of 40 dinger guys at 2nd. Nico has way too much upside. And no, don't get rid of Bellinger. What do the Cubs do if Busch gets hurt or PCA breaks a hand? Cody had broken ribs and fingers last year. He is way too valuable at this point. If in July the Cubs are in good position or out of it? Maybe get rid of then. You cant live in fantasy world where a guy who gets 8 million a year hits 40 dingers and steals 40 bags. Cody won't get moved nor will Nico. They need a closer and Sazaki. They blew 26 saves. That's 109 wins. If they don't blow any. Clase blew 4. Ok the Cubs blew 4. 105 wins. The Cubs are good without Judge or Soto. AZ was in the WS. Who was their superstar? Shaw will be comfortable in the big leagues. Whether it's 2nd or 3rd. For me, I agree with you and Isaac can go. Perfectly, you can have Shaw on the team and get him some PT.
Not sure where you get your numbers but the last 3 seasons Nico has 84 doubles which is hardly 35-40 a year. Secondly we don’t expect him to hit 40 HRs a year but somewhere between 15-20 would be nice. We all love Hoerner and his D and SBs but he isn’t a clutch hitter and K’s a bit too much, Cubs need more. BTW while very good at no point did he ALMOST win a GG at SS. As far as the blown saves you just can’t get rid of them and say we would have won all/most of those games as there were a good number of games where more than one save opportunity was blown, but I get your point..bullpen definitely needs help.
Cmon dude, a bowling reference, seriously. BTW if you have a 150 average and CONSISTENTLY (your words not mine) bowl 30-40 pins over that your average wouldn’t be 150!!
I'm not in love with any of the players on this boring team. Just make whatever moves they need to make to get exciting winning team on the north side. Who cares who they trade of this roster
Hoerner needs to go. His lack of slug torpedoed the offense last year. You need power from the second base position, especially when you don't get it from shortstop. Shaw is the answer.
The hitting coach messed with his batting approach and tried to get him to hit more Home Runs and instead it did not happen and his Average went down alot.
Sam, what about Miguel Amaya??? He sucks. He's not very good defensively. He can't throw. His hitting does not out weigh his deficiencies. Why are you willing to settle for this guy? Seriously, I feel that this is the one position that the Cubs could easily upgrade.
@@gregmatyas4272 Samuel Basallo (Balt), and Harry Ford (Sea) are AAA prospects who are currently blocked in the their systems. The Cubs have a deep minor league system to deal from. I'm just saying...an upgrade isn't a stretch.
@@gregmatyas4272 I'm just not a fan of the dude, and think the ceiling is pretty low. But keep the status quo...maybe he'll over-perform as Jed hopes they all will.
@ I’d much rather see Amaya as the backup but tired of hearing about all these catchers available who each hit about .210, thankfully Jansen signed with Rays tonight…one less loser to worry about, I guess it means Jed is going to sign Kelly now, ick.
Jed created this mess, he overpaid for Belli, Happ and Suzuki. Giving no trades to “good” players is haunting this team. Paredes is a maybe and possibly even Shaw. Who knows if either will develop into a good player, yet alone a star.
Hoerner, Amaya, Wicks and Assad are really the only ones I would want to move. The caveat being that the player(s) Wicks and Assad would bring would have to be substantial given the amount of controllable years they have and how much more room to grow they have in front of them. Hoerner is a nice complementary player, but the fact that he only hits about 5 HRs a year and is a slap hitter should be a luxury and not a necessity for any team. Amaya showed improvement through the length of the entire season, but right now he's not a legit starting MLB catcher. The hitting coach for AA was on a podcast earlier this week and said that Ballistaros (sp?) has the defensive capability and skills to be a good defensive backstop and his hitting acumen is off the charts. I would much rather have his ceiling than Amaya's at this point. I'm very intrigued to see what Paredes can do for a full season (he has legit 30+ HR power in his bat which the Cubs DESPERATELY need) and if Busch can build on what he showed last year. At this point I would have to be blown away with an offer for Bellinger if someone wants him. He would bring back WAY more value at the 2025 trade deadline if the Cubs are out of it than if he were moved now and he has the potential to hit 30+ homers as well. Owen Cassie will probably be moved b/c of the OF situation, but Triantos and Shaw should all be up by May or June with Horton following close behind. I know I'm going to catch a bunch of flak for saying this, but if the bullpen had been better and if they had half as many blown saves than they did they would've been competing for a playoff spot last year. That should tell you that they're close and really just need to button a few things up in order for them to be playing in October.
For me: 1. Bellinger. It's not a good value for that high contract, and I want my 1B/RF to have more pop in his bat. 2. Paredes. His lack of production really scared me this past season after the trade, and I would rather risk having Shaw at 3B. 3. Busch. I want my 1B to have more power in their bat, a big strong slugger. 4. Hoerner. Shaw is ready to play, unless he is at third. That's just my order. I like Nico more than Paredes or Busch. BONUS... if the Cubs get Sasaki, add Taillon to the list. I don't expect that to happen.
Then every team can have him. It’s exactly why the Cubs need to trade him, his perceived value. Yeah we all like/appreciate him a ton but the team needs more. He has zero pop, isn’t a clutch hitter and probably a tad bit overpaid….but he has the most trade value of the 4 all things considered.
Hoerner, Bellinger, Paredes, Bush -- that order. Though, I will say, I personally don't think Bush is going anywhere. As long as another team is interested, the first 3 are as good as gone.
Trade them all, get more prospects. I don't think outside signing Soto and either Alonso or trade for Vlad Jr they are not making the playoffs. Happ and Suzuki would be great batting 6tha nd 7th in a great lineup. Not in the top 4. If not signing the cream of the crop talent... we do not need more Happs and Suzukis who are slightly above average and those 2 really hamstring the roster flexibility. Have you seen the Dodgers roster? A team without superstars is not competing with a team with 6. Relying on variance to go your way all the time is not how you build a contender.
1. Parades, 2. Hoerner, 3. Bellinger, 4. Busch. I’d be happy to keep the bottom 3, depending on what we can trade for. I don’t like Busch on the list. I have the feeling he is going to get better, after a fine rookie year. I like Hoerner and Bellinger too. Each of them could easily out perform 2024, but to make room for Shaw, okay. I wasn’t impressed with Paredes at all.
Don’t judge him when he has a down year. You probably want to trade Lindor as well if we had him for 34m a year. Especially 2021 when he hit .230, 63 RBI, .734 OPS, 3.1 WAR, worse than Swanson’s number !

Besides maybe PCA there’s no untouchables on the cubs. Everyone is expendable.
What are you gonna get for Horner won’t be ready for opening day
Suzuki and busch gotta hit 28-30 homers next season to have a chance at any successs
Any of the position players!!🤔🤨🧐
1. Paredes (cause he blocks Shaw and Smith with 8m salary)
2. Hoerner (Triantos, Shaw coming up)
3. Cody ( he is the only one close to superstar on Cubs)
4. Busch (they traded J. Ferris for him and he is top 10 rookie batter) (I would not trade him unless for Soto, Vlad level superstar)
Agree about Paredes but we just don't have anyone to play third, it's like he's using a plastic bat...my goodness.
My first and last listen of the day. Getcha hat bro! #everydayer
Looks like Suzuki is on the block. Let the rebuild begin. I would also trade Steele, Parades, Nico, Busch, and Happ.
Any of them.
1. Hoerner 2. Paredes. 3. Bellinger 4. Busch
Adam in Ohio
Most willing to trade.
1 Bellinger
2 Parades
3 Hoerner
4 Busch
#1. Paredes. I’d rather keep the rest.
1. Hoerner 2. Suzuki 3. Paredes 4. Bellinger
Once you trade Suzuki it’s a rebuild. And that’s what it is
Obv you didn’t pay attention in class…Suzuki was not an option in this exercise, plus the fact he’s probably the best overall offensive player the team has.
@@gregmatyas4272I’m just going off the Joel Sherman report that I saw via bleacher nation. Apparently Suzuki is on the block
@ Suzuki has a NTC and I don’t see him waving it
Busch nico and paredes I really like Busch
suzuki has value to trade
1. Bellinger but the Cubs will eat $15m and get nothing of value that will help in '25. 2. Hoerner but not until he proves he's healthy enough to play SS, unless Jed settles for pennies on the dollar. Jed will believe the Central Div is for the taking at an 86 W season
which won't be acheived because he won't acquire a star bat nor a #1 SP and no chance the Cubs will be 20 games over .500 in games started by Shota.
Find a way to trade Happ he’s been here to long. We need a power hitter in left fielder
Bellinger will be a Met or Yankee. Whoever loses out on Soto will trade for Bellinger.
Cody Bellinger and Justin Steele.
I'm not ready to give Bush away. But, if we can land a star at first base....maybe slide Bush to second base, trade Nico.
Nico Hoerner, Cody Bellinger, Isaac Peredes, Michael Busch, in that order. Play Shaw and get a big bat for first base.
nico, belinger, and isaac. everyone else i think should stay on the team
Bush. Belli to first. Happ so Owen can play. Horner so Shaw can play
What's sad is, that's every Chicago team!!.............🤨Think about it!!🤔🙄
I am not ready to trade Cody Bellinger
It's like in bowling, being on a team, in a league, where everyone averages 150, but nobody bowls above that, you can't win just bowling your mediocre average!! You need 1 or 2 bowlers that have a 190 average, because normally in bowling, you usually bowl, at least 30 pins over your average consistently!! And Jed doesn't seek out those players!! The Cubs, are a mediocre team with a mediocre owner, and a mediocre GM, in a winnable division!!..............Unfortunately!!🙄🧐🤔😞
We should keep Bush!
Bellinger, Paredes, Hoerner and then Busch
Boog can not talk bad about om and Jed because he is on Tom”s payroll
Nico.
They kind of have to trade guys. they can't play all of them, there's no room. And they have to trade even some of the top prospects. They won't all pan out and why have a top farm system if you never turn that into mlb talent
🤨How does a Major League team not develop every position on the team!!??😲🤔
Hoerner,Bellinger,Paredes,Busch
Cmon dude, a bowling reference, seriously. BTW if you have a 150 average and CONSISTENTLY (your words not mine) bowl 30-40 pins over that your average wouldn’t be 150!!
Bellinger, Paredes, Hoerner, Busch in that order
Upgrade and get who, please tell me what star C is available for trade/FA…available is the key word.
@@gregmatyas4272 Samuel Basallo (Balt), and Harry Ford (Sea) are AAA prospects who are currently blocked in the their systems. The Cubs have a deep minor league system to deal from. I'm just saying...an upgrade isn't a stretch.
@@stantakvii ok a couple more prospects…just what we don’t need…do we know that they’re going to be better than the “prospect” the Cubs have.
Why trade anyone. How about sign Alonso and Burnes its money not prospects
Cody B. Isn't the problem smh Cubs payroll lol . Only bad contract Cubs need to move from plays 2nd base !!
Jed created this mess, he overpaid for Belli, Happ and Suzuki. Giving no trades to “good” players is haunting this team. Paredes is a maybe and possibly even Shaw. Who knows if either will develop into a good player, yet alone a star.
Paredes , Nico , Busch then Cody
Bring back bob brenley 😂
How are the cubs not having a bigger payroll the Padres SMH 😂
Keep Bellinger trade Suzukai
For me: 1. I don't expect that to happen.
i’m tired of the trade nico so shaw can come up narrative. trade paredes and put shaw at 3rd! every team needs a nico!
Sam you forgot Jose Cuas bro what a train wreck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Trade Swanson as soon as a kid ready to take his job just pay him half his salary
no trade clause
Don’t judge him when he has a down year. You probably want to trade Lindor as well if we had him for 34m a year. Especially 2021 when he hit .230, 63 RBI, .734 OPS, 3.1 WAR, worse than Swanson’s number !
Matt Shaw hasn't played a game in the Majors .Hoerner was hurt ,I dont like the way you smear him.He was better before he got hurt ,you know who I would get rid of Happ cant stand him ,Suzuki and Swanson pitiful have a nice day.
Keep everyone except Parades. Go get a big bat. And get Fried or Burnes, problem solved
Get rid of Dansby and Nico
Deal Paredes to Sand Diego for Cronenworth
Parades sucks
He hit 31 HR in 2023
@ we’re in 2025 and bellinger hit 26 a ?
@@sni6941he hit those 30+ in a matchbox in Tampa. Unless he's working on strength and conditioning this winter instead of a plate of smothered burritos on the couch, I doubt he reaches 30 homers with the Cubs at Wrigley although I do think he's much better than he showed us in the 60 games we had him for.
@@True-word74 he is young, going into his prime years, as for Cody, he is around his peak years and injury is the main reason why his power number going down.
None of our top 10 guys after that I don't care .We are going to give away our best rookies for crap ,I don't trust Jed,Hawkins or Ricketts they don't know value or good players .Look they paid 29 million dollars for a pitcher with a bad arm ,hell they could of got Adamas just don't trust them. Sam why are you in a hurry to get rid of one of your best clutch hitter because the rest of them suck ,they suck I just don't see your logic at all.Have a good day.
My picks if possible ,Happ worthless Swanson old broken down,Suzuki not a star ,There
Paredes, Bellinger, Hoerner, Busch
What are you gonna get for Horner won’t be ready for opening day
Nico should be ready by ST. The surgery he had is the hand end of that procedure. He didn't have his whole arm done like the surgery tends to do. It's his thumb where that tendon attaches
You’d get an open position and $11m payroll relief to answer your Q
@ right you not gonna get a good trade being injured duh ? Nit ready for opening day
